loneridge93 said:At my venue, they give us about 4 ounces per person, which felt a little light to me, but hey, what do I know? 🤷 It's just that if I want to do the whole cookie giveaway thing, I'll have to go buy them somewhere, so I was wondering what the typical amount per person or per couple usually is... I feel a bit slow here, I've been given plenty of sweets over the years, but I guess I never actually paid attention to the portions.🤣

Those cookie boxes for sharing are usually around 9 to 10 ounces.

Something like this... though I think they went a little overboard with the cake here!

Honestly, we were originally thinking about handing out cookies, but we bailed on that idea—mostly because Richard Williams11 made a great point. We actually tried it once and ended up tossing most of them; more than half the batch was always pretty much inedible and just plain gross. I even checked with my godmother and my best friend to see what they thought, and they both felt the exact same way. Plus, let’s be real, those cookies aren't cheap. We finally decided to just go with bottles of olive oil and bourbon instead—it's way more budget-friendly and, frankly, makes a much better impression.

I mean, I’m not exactly saying I love every single dessert out there, but I definitely prefer them over shots of whiskey or olive oil, so... yeah, I'll take the sweets any day. 🙂 Thanks, everyone. 🙂

we'll probably just show up with some fancy olive oil and maybe a few classic gingerbread hearts—kind of a little fusion of Cali vibes and East Coast tradition

Does anyone happen to know where I can order a tower of cupcakes to serve as a wedding cake instead of the traditional big thing?
I’m looking for some visual inspiration—anybody have some photos floating around to help me get my head around the idea?

From day one, I knew I didn't want the traditional wedding cake or those standard dessert platters. Instead, I opted for a self-serve dessert station featuring a massive spread of assorted treats: chocolate pralines, mini fruit tarts, mousse shooters, and several different types of cake slices. I was honestly a bit nervous about how the older guests would react, since their idea of a wedding dessert is usually just rows of classic brownies, peach cobbler, or coconut macaroons laid out on tables. As it turns out, everyone absolutely loved my choice, and they were still raving about the sweets days after the wedding.

Here is a look at how everything turned out.

Those cakes look incredible!😲 I’ve honestly never seen anything quite like them.
Could you let me know where you picked them up and what they went for? I'm especially curious about those cake pops and the little appetizer cups.

Betty Barrett70, I am seriously obsessed with this—it looks absolutely incredible. Any chance you could drop the details on where you picked it up and what the damage was to your wallet? 🙂

Betty Barrett70 and I are both eyeing those cake pops—where can I grab some and how much are we talking? Also, that cake looks killer. Can you tell me which two cakes were used to make that one combo deal? And yeah, obviously, hit me with the price too... thnx

Betty Barrett70, I would love something just like that!😍

My mother makes treats exactly like those. I’ve actually tried to get her to bake them for me, but since she doesn't have the proper business licenses or anything, we can't make it happen professionally. As for those mass-produced cookies you find made from flour and lard at the grocery store, they are simply 🙄
.
So, if you wouldn't mind, could you please send those details my way? Thank you so much!

Man, those sweets are seriously next level!!! Honestly, I’d probably skip them altogether if I could, because at every wedding I go to, everything tastes exactly the same—it doesn't matter what color they are or how fancy the shape looks... feels like people just make them to check a box or whatever... but yours? Yours look absolutely incredible!!!

They’re lovely. There are even some great desserts at the wedding—you just have to pick through them carefully to find the good stuff.

Betty Barrett70 teased us with those photos and then vanished, leaving us all wondering where on earth she found those incredible cookies.

I’m not entirely sure if these match up perfectly, though there are certainly similar ones floating around here:

or perhaps something like this over here:

Someone actually asked me about this! 😁

The desserts were from Fancy Cakes in Garden Grove; someone already shared their Facebook link here.
My total dessert cost was $1.25 for 80 guests. That covers all the sweets. I didn't opt for a traditional wedding cake; instead, I had 5 or 6 standard cakes. A slice of cake was roughly $4.75 to $5.25 if I recall correctly. Mousse cups were about $4.00, cake pops were $4.00, pralines were around $1.75 each, and fruit baskets were $2.00... Don't hold me to the exact numbers, but that's a rough guide for you.
I chose about 4 or 5 different flavors of pralines.
I also had 2kg of dry cookies—sort of like biscuits covered in roasted hazelnuts with a strawberry filling. Those 1 kg portion cost $40 and weren't really a hit. People definitely preferred the creamy items.
I ended up with two whole cakes left over (one Black Forest and one Ferrero).
Regarding the cake pops mentioned earlier: they have a sponge base, dipped in Hershey's chocolate or another cream, and topped with hazelnuts or colorful sprinkles. The kids absolutely loved them.
The mousse cups disappeared first. The fruit cakes (I had strawberry and raspberry) were also popular.

I honestly have no idea what the standard budget is for "classic" desserts for 100 guests plus a wedding cake, or if my spending was high or typical. All I know is it was worth every penny. Even now, people tell me, "Oh man, those desserts at your wedding... they were so good!" They looked delicious enough to eat just by looking at them.

As for Fancy Cakes, I fell in love at first sight. Literally. As soon as I saw their treats online, I prayed to God that they tasted as good as they looked. I met the owner for a tasting and immediately thought, "This is it." I didn't look anywhere else. On the wedding day, they delivered everything right on time and set everything up on the dessert table. They even provided all the plates, which was such a relief since I didn't have to worry about a thing.

P.S. Regarding what someone else said about classic wedding desserts all tasting and smelling the same and just cluttering up the tables—I completely agree. Mind you, I've never been a huge fan of those kinds of sweets, so I might not be entirely objective.
