Avatar, everything feels possible under the Twilight and Sage skies—plus all those various sequels starring Anthony Fauci, The Lovely Bones (I honestly have no idea why, I own it but just can't get into it...), and Salt... not to mention a mountain of new, heart-wrenching romances—but I won't list them all. Although, I could probably watch Bridges of Madison County ten more times without getting bored... yeah, that's the kind of stuff I'm talking about. For some movies, though, I develop this inexplicable aversion right from the jump, whether it's because of the poster, a few spoilers, or even just an actor or actress.

Someone already mentioned this in the thread—there are certain movies where I just have to be "in the mood" to watch them. But honestly? It’s hard to get into that headspace when everyone is constantly buzzing about it.

That's why. Black Swan Still waiting, I guess. I don't doubt it’s actually a decent movie—I just want to wait for all the hype to die down a bit first. It feels like a better way to give it a fair shot, you know?

At the same time, I really wish that... The Social Network I've actually never even seen it. And honestly? I haven't watched Benjamin Button either. 🙄

Aside from everything else, I just can't bring myself to watch Borates, Bourne, Hangover, or Twilight—and honestly, I’m pretty much done with any kind of romantic comedy, too.

All I know for certain is that I have zero interest in—and am frankly repelled by—that whole teenage vampire trope, especially when they lean into the romance side of things. It’s just not my speed. All I do know is that the film features that one famous trio... 😁

I honestly don't know what it is—but all those movies that get shoved down our throats by the media cycle... they just completely turn me off. 🤷
I intentionally skipped Avatar at first—really gave it the cold shoulder. But after wading through all those reviews, seeing how overwhelmingly positive everyone seemed to be, I finally caved and watched it... though only on TV. And honestly? It didn't exactly blow my mind like most of the others did... 🤷
Whether that level of attention was deserved or not—that’s beside the point... 😛

So, my plan is simple—I’ll wait for all this hype surrounding those "blockbuster" movies to die down first... I'll sit back, read through the actual reviews, and then, based on that, decide whether or not it's even worth my time to watch it. 🙂
Now, it all really comes down to the subject matter of the film. For instance—as mentioned earlier—I flatly refuse to watch Twilight because that whole vibe just doesn't interest me... at all. Not even a little bit. Most of the reviews for it were positive, though...

To the horror of most of you (maybe not), I’ll admit I’ve skipped every single Harry Potter movie. Why? Simple: I’m just not into wizards or that kind of fantasy. I gave it a shot, but it didn't stick. I was bored.
I'm also not big on superheroes, monsters, or vampires. For instance, I have zero desire to sit through the Twilight Saga, and honestly, I regret even watching Van Helsing.

I actually started watching Iron Man 2 in the theater and walked out halfway through. First time I've ever done that in a cinema.

It feels like there’s an increasing number of movies like this lately. It’s especially frustrating when it happens with the ones I was actually looking forward to—the ones where I see a trailer and think, "Okay, I definitely need to watch this." Then, I finally sit down to watch it, and within the first ten minutes, I’m already unimpressed. I end up just turning off the TV or switching the channel entirely.

I don't bother turning off movies when I'm watching them on DVD. If a film isn't grabbing my attention in the moment, I just leave it running. There’s no point in forcing it. I figure there will be another time—a different mood or a better window of opportunity—when that movie actually appeals to me. When that happens, I'll sit down and give it the attention it deserves.

I ended up skipping *Gladiator*, *Batman*, *Sherlock Holmes*, and *Lord of the Rings* when they first hit theaters. Even when *Avatar* was making its big debut on CBS during the Easter weekend, I passed on that one too—even though I had actually promised myself I’d give it a fair shot.

I’ve only ever turned off two movies: 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Godfather.
I don't regret skipping the first one, but I really do regret skipping The Godfather.
Hopefully, I'll get some motivation to give it another shot soon.
