😂 I’m honestly afraid I don't even grasp the exact implication here—presumably, they think it's started to shift. 🤣 Only one of my mother’s friends ever bothered asking me about it—maybe twice or three times at the start—which I found honestly hilarious. For me, the baby truly felt real the moment I heard that heartbeat on the ultrasound... which was around the eight-week mark. 😍

Quincy:
It’s funny how life works, isn't it? My closest friends just seemed to vanish into thin air the moment I found out I was pregnant for the first time. It makes you wonder where everyone goes when things actually get real.
I didn't exactly have it in my plans to keep drifting through our weekend hangouts like this, though I suppose I didn't foresee us being unable to grab a quick coffee together either. It’s funny how things shift; I wasn't anticipating that our conversations would narrow down solely to pregnancy talk, yet somehow, I didn't see coming that we might just stop talking altogether.
They didn't even bother to reach out to me. Not once.
In the beginning, I was always the one reaching out, the one making every single move to start a conversation or keep things moving, but eventually, I just hit a wall and realized I couldn't be the only one trying anymore. Honestly, I just got tired of being the only one putting in the effort, you know?
I’m really not going to go around begging anyone to hang out with me.
They really did a number on me, I suppose, but what can you do? It is what it is, right? I guess they just weren't the kind of friends I thought they were, at least not in the way I had imagined them being.
Life just keeps moving forward, doesn't it? At the end of the day, the people who truly care about you—the ones who actually see your value—are the ones who will make the effort to stay in your life. 🙂 Whether you’re actually pregnant or not, and whether they're truly biological or not, it really doesn't change the reality of the situation.
I ended up doing much the same thing with a few so-called "friends" of mine recently.
I’ve always felt that true friends are the ones who stick by you regardless of what kind of chaos is unfolding in your world or theirs. It shouldn't matter if you're hitting a massive peak or sliding into a bit of a valley; if the friendship is real, they aren't going anywhere, right? Life gets messy, and people get distracted, but those core connections should remain steady through all the noise.
Some things can be adjusted, I suppose, but you can't just flip a switch and cut someone out of your life if you actually give a damn about them, can you?
I don't think anyone expects to be grilled about their pregnancy and future child every single second,
but it does feel a bit dismissive when close friends ignore the situation entirely or never bother to check in on how you're actually feeling.
At the end of the day, this is a massive part of our lives right now, and it isn't exactly possible to pretend it isn't happening.
It's not like I've passed away—I'm just pregnant. Nothing stops me from grabbing a latte, hitting the shops, or chatting about literally anything else. It's not as if my vocabulary has been limited strictly to diapers and nursery colors.
For heaven's sake, I need a break too, and I still need social interaction and varied conversation topics.
Along with everything else that makes me who I am, I've simply added "mom" to the list.
I honestly can't wrap my head around why they've decided that we can't—or shouldn't—hang out like we used to. 🤷

Noah Wells2 said:First off, I'm right there with Zlatan and you. My situation is much the same; I have a cat who stays indoors mostly but gets to stretch her legs outside occasionally. I’ve also dealt with toxoplasmosis (though my vet mentioned it isn't a total guarantee of safety since the virus can reactivate later on). Regardless, the idea of getting rid of her never crosses my mind because she is a member of this family.😍
Secondly, I’ve touched on this before regarding my "good" friend's reaction—or lack thereof—to my pregnancy news, and how another "dear" friend
from about a year and a half ago🙄 hasn't called, texted, or made any effort to contact me at all since I found out four months ago. I know she’s aware, as are her sister, her mother, and our mutual friends. I can guess the possible reasons behind her silence—perhaps she's struggling with her own difficulty conceiving for over a year—but regardless, this behavior feels selfish and entirely unneighborly. I don't expect people to be fascinated by every milestone of my pregnancy, but I do expect my friends to be happy for my happiness. As far as I'm concerned, that friendship is over.☕.
I ended up doing much the same thing with a few so-called "friends" of mine recently.

boldbison32 said:Regarding my girlfriends and how they’ve been handling my pregnancy, I have to say that my closest friends were absolutely thrilled when I shared the news, and they are genuinely happy for me. That said, I don't exactly expect them to grill me constantly about how the baby is doing or if I can feel any movement or other tiny details. When we catch up over coffee or on the phone, they always check in on how I'm feeling, I give them a quick update, and then we move on to everything else—love lives, work, weekend plans, you name it. Just because I’m pregnant doesn't mean I've lost interest in the rest of the world... I really believe that anything taken to an extreme is a bit much. Back when I wasn't even thinking about kids, I wouldn't have wanted to sit through endless conversations centered solely around pregnancy and babies. Now, it’s just as annoying when people hear the news and immediately jump to talking about labor pains, childbirth, breast changes, or hemorrhoids...🙂 Honestly, just let me enjoy this phase and discover the "joys" of pregnancy at my own pace. If there's something I actually want to ask my inner circle or you ladies here on the forum, I definitely will!🙂

Oh man, I feel you. I’m nearly six months along myself, and honestly, it can be such a trip. Just the other day, I was at the grocery store when this woman comes up to me out of nowhere—total stranger—and starts asking all these intense questions. She was like, "Oh my gosh, how are you feeling? Is little Rita moving around much yet? Can you feel the baby kicking?" It’s always so surreal when people just jump right into your personal business like that!
And I mean, personally, I was just kind of sitting there thinking...😱 I honestly got chills when she said that out loud. Look, my little one has been healthy and thriving since they were six weeks old, so I really can't stand it when people come at me with those kinds of questions. It’s just exhausting.

ironjackal20 said:Never say never. Try to see things from her perspective. We dealt with infertility for years, and even though we loved seeing other people's kids, there were certain things I just couldn't handle lately, like kids' birthday parties. They were a total nightmare for me. When everyone else has children, you constantly deal with that awkward "So, when is it your turn?" pressure. I handled it by telling everyone I wouldn't be coming anymore because it was just too hard. I'd always send a gift later, but being in a group of twenty couples where everyone has toddlers and then suddenly prying into my private life was too much.
My husband didn't have the guts to be upfront with his friends, so he just made up excuses for why we couldn't make it. I thought it was pointless, but it was his call and I respect that.
Maybe it's just harder for your friend than it is for you, which is why she can't even pick up the phone or send a text. Give her some grace.
Look, I didn't mean to sound extreme, but I certainly looked at the bigger picture of her past behavior before deciding to step away from the friendship. I empathize with the female experience; I've seen plenty of heartbreaking stories in my own circle involving miscarriages, fibroids, or stillbirths. In all those instances, my friends were supportive, even if some preferred to stay quiet about the details. On top of that, my own pregnancy is high-risk due to an underlying health issue she’s well aware of. However, I struggle to see how it's possible to lack even a shred of basic courtesy for four and a half months—like sending a simple text if she isn't up for talking. We all process things differently, but in her case, this feels selfish and hypocritical, and I have no desire to maintain a connection under any circumstances moving forward.🥳 It's because I suspect these character flaws would surface again eventually, regardless of anyone's pregnancy status.

I couldn't agree more.
It seems they've decided to write you off simply because they're nursing some inexplicable jealousy or malice, which, frankly, sounds as absurd as it is disappointing. In the end, it sounds like they weren't really your friends to begin with.

It hits home for me because I went through something similar with my closest friend, someone I was incredibly tight with before I got pregnant. We were always hanging out, grabbing lunch or catching movies together, but the second I became pregnant, the friendship just evaporated. I reached out a few times to grab coffee or see a film, but eventually, I just called it quits. I realized I had put in enough effort and decided that was that. It actually hurt quite a bit at first, especially since he was my most reliable friend here in Washington, D.C. He still pops up on Facebook occasionally, but what we have now isn't even a shadow of what it used to be. ☕

Haha, you’ve got a point there... once I can’t stop hovering over my little girl, he's definitely going to feel the jealousy!! Poor guy won't know what hit him...😁

I was literally sobbing last night because I feel like a total disaster—just a complete mess—and he just sits there laughing at me, telling me I'm being dramatic... which honestly makes me feel even worse 🙂
And then there are the days when HE actually has the nerve to ask me, "Hey, have I put on a little weight??" 🙂🙂 🙂
no comment! 🤣

Justin Baker3 said:Here’s a fresh example from yesterday: I was standing in line at Target, and there was nobody behind me, just two women ahead of me finishing up their checkout. Suddenly, this woman just smoothly slides right between me and them, acting like she’s next in line.
Honestly, I had to fight the urge to lose my cool completely. First off, I was clearly the only one waiting in line. Secondly, you can't exactly mistake me for being pregnant—I have a bump. I just don't understand people who blatantly pretend they're blind. I also don't get the cashier, who saw I was pregnant and couldn't even find the nerve to tell that lady to back off and let me go first.
I swear, once I actually have this baby, I’m going to be pushing that stroller right through anyone in my way. My patience for this stuff is officially gone.
It really is incredibly irritating. It has happened to me several times—even once, some woman cut right in front of me when I was clearly showing quite a bit, and she somehow failed to notice I was pregnant. 🤷
What truly gets to me are people who offer unsolicited medical advice when they aren't doctors. For instance, my physician recommended certain vitamins and magnesium after my last checkup, but my mother-in-law and her little circle started lecturing me about how it's all just chemicals and that I should stick to "natural" foods instead. 😲 I am a total health nut and strictly eat organic, yet my immune system is still struggling, my hair is thinning, my nails are brittle, and my bloodwork is poor. But sure, they lived on whole foods thirty years ago without any supplements and turned out fine. 🙂🙂 Or take the comment from my husband's cousin, who is a nurse instructor at a university. When I mentioned being put on a restricted diet during pregnancy, she remarked: "That's nonsense, you shouldn't diet at all while pregnant; I gained 25 pounds and my kids were perfectly fine." .. 🤷 Well, it's great that her kids were fine, but if she had bothered to ask why, I would have told her that my entire family has diabetes and I gain five pounds in a month the moment I stop following my regimen. 😠 The ultimate irony is that she eats exclusively macrobiotic food because she's so obsessed with her own health. 🤣
There are plenty of idiots like that, but I usually just shut it down by telling them I don't care for Jack's advice. ☕
And yes, it is also maddening that I can't sleep on my stomach anymore. 🤣 I've been chronically sleep-deprived for months now, and I am counting down the days until this baby is born so I can finally lie on my stomach and get at least two hours of sleep. 😂

So my self-appointed moral guardians—aka my aunt and mom—are totally coming for me because I’m taking prenatal vitamins on my doctor's orders. Apparently, they think just eating "healthy" was enough for them, which is funny considering my aunt smoked through both her pregnancies and my partner's brother was actually born premature, but hey, I guess that doesn't count. 😕
Then the other day, I mentioned over coffee that I don't want anyone visiting for the first month and a half after the baby comes, except for my parents and my partner's folks. And this friend of mine goes, "Oh, that wouldn't apply to you, we'd be there immediately," and then proceeds to list everyone: herself, her husband, her mom—who's my godmother—and her four-year-old. 🙄 And get this, she had the baby all by herself and spent the whole time complaining about how everyone kept showing up and expecting her to cook for them, not to mention how they basically turned her entire backyard into a disaster zone. 😲

It honestly drives me crazy that I can't get any actual help here and have to Google every single little thing... and then you just end up falling down these rabbit holes of total nonsense... either things are way too hyped up, or they're absolutely terrifying... or you read some horror story where someone basically drops dead just because they had a little ache on their left or right side.. 🙄I mean, I know I’m probably just making it my own problem... but it’s still so frustrating!
And it really bugs me how jealous I am of my husband... he seems to be doing just fine and nothing about his life has shifted, while I’m over here feeling like a total wreck... one day it’s physical, the next it’s mental... 😁
The only thing that actually gives me any comfort—if you can even call it that—is this constant gurgling, stretching, and twitching in my gut 😍😍

I suppose I should probably weigh in on this, though I’m not entirely sure if anyone is still paying attention to these threads. It feels like we’ve been circling the same drain for a while now, hasn't it? I was sitting there earlier, just thinking about how much things have shifted lately, and I couldn't help but wonder if we're all just collectively pretending that everything is normal when it clearly isn't. Does anyone else get that nagging feeling that the ground is shifting right under our feet while we're busy worrying about trivialities? It’s a strange sort of exhaustion, isn't it? Not even a sharp, sudden fatigue, but more of a slow, steady draining of energy that leaves you wondering where the time went and why everything suddenly feels so much heavier than it did a few months ago. I mean, really, are we actually making progress here, or are we just rearranging the deck chairs on a very large, very expensive ship? It’s worth considering, I think, even if it makes us a bit uncomfortable to admit. kaže:
It’s honestly pretty draining to deal with this constant wave of jealousy toward my partner. It eats at me because, from where I’m sitting, his life seems perfectly steady—nothing about him has shifted, and he’s just cruising along like everything is fine. Meanwhile, I feel like a complete mess. One day I’m struggling physically, and the next it feels like my mental state is just totally spiraling. Is it just me, or is it exhausting trying to find your footing when someone else seems to have it all figured out so effortlessly? 😁
The only thing giving me any sense of comfort or amusement lately is this constant, rhythmic thumping, stretching, and hiccuping going on in my gut. 😍😍
Honestly, I felt like I was dealing with this same exact thing during my last pregnancy, and now, here I am again, facing the same pattern all over again.
And there he is, sleeping like a little baby—skinny as a rail, really—while my back and hips are absolutely killing me, and the princess just gives me a cowardly little kick in her sleep.
I spent way too much time Googling stuff about childbirth and stretch marks earlier, and honestly, my head is just spinning from all the conflicting information out there. Does anyone else feel like the more you search, the more you just end up with a massive headache?
So, I’ve decided that if there’s going to be a third child, they’re going to have to earn their way into this family. They can only join us if they decide to carry themselves around for nine months, pack on an extra fifteen pounds, and truly embrace the whole experience—from the endless blood draws to the back pain that leaves you feeling completely wrecked, right up through the actual labor. Honestly, it’s a tall order. Dad says no. 🙂

The thing that gets to me most is people just ignoring the rules... wherever I go, I wait my turn. It never even crosses my mind to cut in line, especially now that I'm pregnant and there are places where expecting moms get priority. I had such an uncomfortable encounter the other day... I walked into a local notary office and saw two people sitting there waiting. I stood there for a minute before deciding to approach the clerk to ask what I needed, but before I could even get a word out, this woman sitting there lunges toward me—almost pushing me aside—and snaps loudly that she's next in line. wtf... I was honestly stunned!! I just wanted to talk to the lady behind the desk, not sit there like an idiot waiting for something to happen... but this woman, seeing my belly, thought I was trying to jump ahead of her..... It's terrible how some women can be.....

That is exactly what I was getting at, because I'm certainly not the type of person who makes everything about myself, and in fact, the last time I spoke to this particular friend on the phone, I spent half an hour just waiting for her to tell me what was going on in her own life; I listened, I commented, and I didn't try to interrupt once to pivot back to "oh, my baby..." but when she finally finished, she asked me "how are you" with such a tone that I could hear in her voice that she was expecting a very short, perfunctory answer...
It was just one of those moments where someone asks how you are just to check a box... and after that, a whole month has passed... and there hasn't been a single word since...

Everything about this pregnancy feels incredibly steady for me. I honestly couldn't care less about outside drama; I’m just staying calm, avoiding anyone who might cause unnecessary stress, and focusing entirely on my baby. I’m counting down the days until delivery, though I'm hoping to keep this little one tucked away inside me for as long as possible. To be honest, if I weren't pregnant, things that bother me now wouldn't even register—I simply don't have the energy for it. I've embraced the whole experience, including the physical changes. I actually love my bump and how my body looks right now, knowing it all eventually settles back down. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a fashion icon or anything, but I feel deeply connected to this baby, and frankly, people can think whatever they want about it.
