The option was disabled because there is a legitimate reason behind it, and frankly, the administration isn't obligated to disclose exactly what that reason is. Once the issue is resolved, the feature will be brought back, and you'll all be notified. It's as simple as that.

To be honest, the forum has actually been running much more smoothly since you guys took the search function offline.

I imagine it was probably putting quite a heavy load on the servers.

That’s just not true. The server is still a total mess regardless of whether search works or not. Removing that one tool didn't fix a single thing. If anything, the server is acting worse this year than I can remember.
At least we didn't used to have a mountain of ads that even AdBlocker can't touch, or random adult content popping up all over the sub-forums.

Some of us actually need search just to keep track of our own threads.
I’ve started at least 80 different topics myself, and most of the time I can't even find them again.

I don't know if there's even a plan to bring the function back later, but here's a reality check: even the tiny niche forums out there have a working search bar.

Let me tell you something, they aren’t ever giving us back those extra days. Not a chance. They’re just gonna push everything out to the end of next month instead. It’s straight-up disrespectful, honestly.

Oh, please. It’s not going to show up. They’re just trolling at this point. They know full well that option isn't coming back, yet they still act all high and mighty, handing out those "likes" like they own the place the second anyone calls them out on their nonsense.

I’ve never really used the post search function because I’m not interested in stalking anyone—I'm not that kind of person—and frankly, it sounds exhausting. But could we at least have the option to track our own comments? I should be able to open an active thread and see if someone has quoted me. Or at least be able to tell someone, "Hey, check out my experience on page 56," instead of being forced to scroll endlessly through every single post.

Is there any way to get a notification if someone, say, quotes me here on Reddit??? If there isn't, why on earth not? Sending my regards to everyone else who's dealing with this nonsense.

That option was smothered (yeah, smothered) for a good reason.

If you happen to be using Tapatalk, I believe there is an option available to enable notifications whenever someone quotes you 🤔

So, I just realized today that I can't block certain users anymore—which is honestly a huge deal if you want to avoid all the constant trolling and repetitive nonsense.

Is this some kind of permanent change from the Admins?
Because if they actually killed that feature, they might as well just announce it now so we can all collectively bail on Reddit.
