For your average user, any software will do as long as it runs. But for those of us in the extreme crowd, we already know how it goes—it either works perfectly or it's complete garbage. 😁

Just finished installing Windows 7 and honestly? I’ve got nothing but praise. This system is absolutely killer—way better than Vista.
Speed-wise, it's just fantastic. I'm running a 2.6 GHz dual-core with 2 GB of RAM, and it actually feels snappier than my buddy's setup, which is a 3.2 GHz 64-bit processor with 2 GB of RAM.

Even browsing the web feels faster now. My only real task is getting used to the workflow compared to how things were back in the XP days.

It’s easy enough to get used to something better. 🙂🙂🙂🙂

I guess Vista might be one of the biggest failures in computing history, which even Microsoft basically admitted...
Vista doesn't even come close to XP or 7.

Listen, I've never actually had Vista freeze on me or anything, whereas XP hangs or crashes at least twice a month. It's the same rig—dual core 3 GHz with 4 GB of RAM. Personally, I haven't run into any issues with Vista, so I'm curious what people mean by it being a failure; maybe I just haven't used those specific features yet. My internet speed is also identical across Vista, XP, and 7 at 1.5 MB/s, so I don't get how he's seeing a difference. I started using Vista a year after it launched and it's been fine, while 7 keeps stuttering on me. I think I'll stick with what I have for a while.

Anyone else dealing with this issue on Windows 7 where the audio is way quieter than it was
back on Windows XP?
The second I finished installing, Windows just slapped on some generic driver and I could tell immediately the volume was underwhelming. So, I tried to fix it by
manually installing the official manufacturer driver (which supports Windows 7), but it didn’t change a thing..
Everything is cranked up to max, but it’s still significantly quieter than it used to be on Windows XP
Any way to fix this? It’s especially annoying because I can barely hear myself when I'm on SIP/VoIP calls...

thanks 👍

Hey, that speaker icon in the bottom right corner... does yours say 100% too?

Just wondering—would Windows 7 actually run on a 1.5 GHz processor with only 512 MB of RAM?
It's a laptop we're talking about—obviously.

I’d do it. That's exactly why I'm talking to you. 🙂
But then you're left without any of the bells and whistles—like Aero, for instance.something And all that other nonsense Windows 7 drags along—stuff that's basically just wasted resources even if you're running a high-end rig.
My RAM usage is constantly sitting north of 80%—it's just always pinned like that.

Yeah, it does. Cranked it all the way up to 100%.

Any idea what else could be causing this?...

Hey everyone, I need some assistance. I'm running Windows 7 and I accidentally turned off the clock and date on the taskbar in the bottom right corner. Now I can't figure out how to get it back. Please help me🙂))

Just right-click the taskbar, go to PROPERTIES, then on the first tab just check the box that says "Show the clock"—or whatever the exact wording is—hit APPLY, then OK.

Cheers!

Well, I don't even see an option for "Show the clock" on that first tab on my machine.🤷

Of course not! Daniel Vaughn3 hasn't got a clue what he's talking about.

So, you know that little white triangle sitting on your taskbar? That’s the one responsible for managing all your system tray stuff. You just hover your cursor right over that little triangle—and then, boom, a little tooltip pops up! Hey! So, you're looking to dig up those hidden icons? No problem at all! It's super easy, really. You just gotta head right down to that little taskbar at the bottom of your screen—you know the one. Look for that tiny little upward-pointing arrow, that little "Show hidden icons" button. Just give that a quick click! Boom! Everything pops right out into the light. It’s like opening a little treasure chest of background apps. Super simple, super straightforward. Happy clicking!Just right-click on it! Simple as that! Seriously, just pop that right mouse button down and you're golden. It really is that easy! Properties! Just thinking about them! Everything about how things are set up and the way they behave! It’s all right there in the settings, you know? You gotta dive in deep to really see what’s going on under the hood! It's fascinating! Really! Total game changer when you get it right! It’s going to kick in! So, you want to mess around with those little system icons? You know, the ones just sitting there on your desktop? You can totally turn them on or off! It’s actually pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. I was tinkering with my setup the other day—just felt like cleaning things up, you know?—and it makes such a massive difference in how much "clutter" you're staring at. Anyway, if you're looking to toggle those Behaviors on / OFF, here is the deal: Just jump into your settings, head over to the personalization section, and look for your desktop icon settings. Boom. There they are. You can check the boxes for things like the Recycle Bin or User Files, or uncheck them if you want that super clean, minimalist aesthetic. Some people love having everything visible, others want that empty workspace vibe. Personally? I'm all about that extra breathing room! It just feels smoother. Just click, check, or uncheck, and you're good to go. Easy peasy! So, you’ve got all those system icons lined up right there! The first one is the Clock, and then if you look just to the right, there's that whole menu sitting in a column. Simple as that! Behaviors on / OFF Behaviors on / OFF

I grabbed an activated version of Windows 7 online
It works fine on all my other PCs (they're all activated)
except mine!!!!!!
I did a totally clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 7600, not just an update
Tried everything... no antivirus is blocking it, wiped the whole drive, tried with and without updates, but it still says it's not activated, even though it works instantly on every other machine.
Anyone got a clue what's going on?

Nobody's gonna help you since we aren't supposed to talk about illegal stuff here.🤷

Maybe try a quick Google search; you might actually track it down there. 🙂

There is a small white triangle on the taskbar used for tray control. Hover over it (you'll see a Show hidden icons tooltip), right-click Properties, and then Turn system icons on or off will enable the list of system icons starting with Clock. To the right, you'll find the Behaviors menu with the On/off column.

Daniel Vaughn3 clearly doesn't know what they're saying. 😁
I suppose at least they tried.
Thanks for the help; I am new to this forum, so I haven't figured everything out yet.

Hmm, that’s strange. On my Windows 7, the clock was right there—took about an hour to find it. Maybe they changed things in this latest version, because in the BETA 7000, it was definitely there. Only thing is, it wasn't on the first tab, but the third one. My mistake on that.😁
Basically, here is how it looked on my Windows 7. I would right-click the taskbar—you know, the superbar—then hit PROPERTIES, and under the third tab, I had the option to turn the clock on. The setting was simply labeled "Clock." This is exactly how it appeared for me:
