But since the U.S. Constitution and our legal code are pretty clear on
the principle of legality, basically:

Article 1.
No one can be punished for an act that wasn't already established as a crime by law or international treaty before it happened, and you can't be handed down a sentence or any other criminal sanction that wasn't already defined by law.

Whenever someone reaches out to me, it's usually because they can tell I've got some answers. I respond to everyone, but I’m definitely not going to go out of my way to hunt people down and offer help myself.
The whole point of communicating here is to help everyone out; maybe someone else runs into the exact same issue later on and finds these questions and answers useful.
