Denzel Washington in Movies ·
Nicholas Chavez70 said:There are just a few African American actors who managed to transcend that whole gritty, gangsta hip-hop persona—you know, that aggressive, rap-influenced attitude you see in guys like Ice-T or Cube. It’s a rare thing to find someone who moves past those stereotypes entirely.

👍Well, Samuel L. Jackson and Fishburne are definitely some of those rare exceptions... I mean, let's be real, even Samuel L. Jackson is on that list.😁

The Fast and the Furious franchise in Movies ·
cosmiclynx57 said:For me, The Fast and the Furious (2001) is hands down the absolute best movie in the whole F&F franchise. 👍

There’s just this certain something about it that the sequels totally lack, and if I had to sum it up (briefly), it’s the fact that the whole thing is completely dedicated to street racing that looks freaking amazing, a straightforward story that hits all the right notes, and—which is huge for me—actually getting to know the characters.

Okay, that was the short version, so let me dive into the details for a bit. 😉

Now, look, the second and third movies focus on racing too, but man, they just don't nail it quite like this one did; maybe it's not the first film ever made, but for me, the vibe is just unmatched and the races feel way more exciting than anything else in the series.
Sure, the other F&F flicks have some really solid racing scenes, but I'm sticking to talking about the first one since that's the one I'm voting for!

The plot in the original is my favorite because it’s so simple and just "flows" naturally, whereas the sequels sometimes feel like they're trying a bit too hard.
It’s hard to put into words, really, but I just find myself enjoying the first film more than any of them.

And honestly, just getting introduced to the characters carries such a special weight for me, because up until that point, we didn't know them at all and were just stepping into their world for the first time. That whole process of building the bond between the two leads, Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner, is priceless and just beautifully executed.

If I could add just one more thing, that final scene/race is simply perfection. It’s perfect because of the insane driving, sure, but also because of the feeling it pulls you into—you really empathize with Dominic Toretto, who spends the whole movie talking about those ten seconds or less, as he puts it, where he feels truly free... man, I swear, watching that makes me feel just as free, like I'm actually behind the wheel or sitting right there in the car with him.
That’s the magic right there, you know? It’s priceless because it isn't just about speed, cool cars, and racing; it’s about the atmosphere. When everything clicks and fits together perfectly like it does in this first film and that final scene, that's when you get the real deal—an awesome movie.

You hit the nail on the head.👍Honestly, that's my favorite part of the whole series... Michelle Rodriguez. She actually looks like she has some meat on her bones, unlike those other actresses who look like they're starving themselves!😁Personally, I've watched that first movie maybe 20 times, while I've only seen the second to last one twice... that should tell you everything, right? But hey, everyone's got their own taste. I still haven't even gotten around to watching Fast Five!
How to improve my growling technique? in Music ·
Morgan Brown4 said:Yeah, honestly—heavy stuff like prog, doom, thrash, and speed? It’s just basically built on growling. It's everywhere.🙄

Everything’s just become such a blur lately—all these genres are bleeding into one another. You’ve got doom/death, or death/thrash, or that whole progressive technical BDM thing... it's all messy. Nowadays, modern metal bands are experimenting so much that you'll hear stuff you'd never expect—like a band where you honestly couldn't imagine hearing a growl, yet there it is. Growling is just everywhere now.😁

Hmm, that growl... hmm, let me DM you
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_B...%28musician%29
Of course this kind of music needs a growl—but honestly, who else can pull off vocals that are clear yet still absolutely brutal? That's the sweet spot right there.

wiredranger30 said:🙂 Honestly, S. Houde is just something else. I remember reading this one review where the critic basically said—get this—that he’s a straight-up madman, like his voice is possessed by something evil, and he’s just not from this world or even this era. 😁 I'm totally with you there. Just one Houdie, and honestly, there's zero competition—he’s easily the most chaotic and brutal vocalist in death metal.🙏 🙂

I don't even have anything left to say... I'm literally spinning Temple right now... just soaking it all in, especially those music videos where Houdie looks like he's completely lost it—eyes rolling back and everything.🤣 It's pure madness—I feel like I'm hitting a wall with Kataklysm after hearing him. Seriously, the only thing that can even come close is The Prophecy. People always try to compare him to Lord Worm from Cryptopsy—and look, I love early Cryptopsy as much as anyone—but for me, Houdie is better. He's the best. You can just hear the absolute psycho energy in his voice. I definitely have an old Temple shirt somewhere in my closet, but it's probably faded to death and full of holes from the moths. xD

Major props for Sylvain🙏🙏🙏! Honestly, after him, Kataklysm just feels like a total mess. It would’ve been way better if Maurizio had just stuck to the bass—that old-school forced vibe was nasty. For me, Sorcery and Temple of Knowledge are the real deal—those are the only two I actually keep in my Kataklysm folder😁. I’ve always been a huge fan of that geeky drugstore guy Brett Hoffman from Malevolent. Without him, Malevolent wasn't really hitting the mark for me back in the day. But man, Malevolent is definitely still fast—check out Roddy on In Cold Blood, and then Curloss absolutely shreds later on!!! Here’s a solid little track for you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1luW-RHAio

DragonForce🤣, man! This !T.O.O.H! track gives me some serious Cephalic vibes—kind of reminds me of Asesino’s vocal style too😂—but honestly, I’m just obsessed with how tight that snare sounds!

Falling Down (1993) in Movies ·
Absolute masterpiece! I remember renting this on VHS at some local video store back in the mid-90s just because the cover looked so cool😁 —and honestly, I’ve probably watched it at least ten more times since. Michael Douglas is just incredible in this—before this, the only thing I really remembered him for was his role in Wall Street! It’s easily sitting in my top 25 movies of all time🙏

Even Billy Blanks showed up in one scene...it was total fireworks

👍😁,just getting back into it—same vibe from '93 with Billy Blanks and Roddy Piper😁. Think of those first five Van Damme flicks—kind of like Lionheart—plus that Only the Strong energy from the Dacassas
Nevermore in Music ·
Man, some guy would probably be writing a whole sob story right now, whining about the metalheads... just sitting at the bar all day venting... pfff😂, back in 2005, I missed the first opening act, but the second one? Total damn thrashers with those little death metal vibes—Dew-scented. It was freaking phenomenal!
Edit-just checked my old ticket, looks like Mercenary played first.

Man, you're a legend!🙏
Nevermore in Music ·
They’re a solid band, no doubt about it! Personally, I’d put their self-titled or TGE at the top—it's been a minute since 2005. And yeah, I totally agree about that Loomis-like style; the guy just lives and breathes death metal. Plus, if I remember correctly, the current Cannibalalians guitarist, Pat O'Brien, used to be in the band too—he's the one on guitar... uhhh🙏
@Chloe Green61—back in 2005 during that show in Ljubljana, Dane's vocals were pretty rough. I mean, they were okay, but definitely below what I was expecting. Maybe he's improved over the last six years or something? xDD. Also, from what people were saying, the guy's a total hard drinker and has been dealing with depression for years, so he looked a little buzzed on stage.
Die Hard franchise in Movies ·
Die Harder is slightly better than the original for me🙂! The third one might have been good for the first couple of viewings—it’s super catchy with that Simon Says thing—but it gets old pretty fast, whereas the fourth one is actually a blast... man, it would be killer if they finally dropped a fifth one!
Training Day in Movies ·
Let me kick this thread back into gear for a second because this movie is just legendary🙂. Def my favorite Denzel performance—easily in my top 20 movies of all time. The guy didn't just play the part; he lived it. He absolutely crushed it, and honestly, I live for those moments when an actor fully disappears into a role... kind of like how Edward Norton did in American History X. Training Day is just pure gold from start to finish—I wouldn't change a single frame! If Denzel hadn't been the one in the lead, I seriously doubt anyone else could have pulled off such a powerhouse performance and elevated the whole film to this level.
