Another wall: USA and Mexico in World ·
I sometimes find myself wishing we could just build a wall around the USA, similar to how they handled things in the past. Imagine if there were only as many checkpoints as there are actual roads entering the country, with a well-equipped police officer and a customs agent stationed at every single one of them. Wouldn't that provide much more security?

Christopher Hitchens

and a few others 🤣 🤣

Wouldn't it be interesting if an unnamed person and an unnamed person were on that list too?

The last thing I need right now—especially with my ego and confidence already feeling a bit shaky—is to be crowned the "king of the forums" and inherit I.L.'s throne...

I simply wouldn't be worthy of stepping into such massive shoes.

I’ll gladly step aside for that honor.

Everything is looking good on my end.

Admittedly, I had to clear about twenty PMs first, but everything is running smoothly now... 🙂

Alright, seriously though, are we all here just to tear each other down?

I’m on board with that idea. 👍

Is it true?

That’s awesome!!!

Where can I go to verify this myself?

(I'm guessing... maybe through some kind of public poll?)

Just checked!

I personally like it, but there's an argument that if elections aren't anonymous, they aren't truly free or democratic. 🤔 😬

Those who actually fled escaped justice entirely.

Well, I'm not so sure about that...

Because those people you're targeting have been "punished" just as much, if not more—whether it was for Jasenovac or other reasons—simply because they found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, both on a famous field in Austria and on the road leading up to it.

Just a quick correction here—I just realized how my previous list of nations might have come across. Let me rephrase that to better reflect what I actually meant:

If the English, Frenchmen, Spaniards, Portuguese, Dutchmen, Belgians, Austrians, or Italians were all held strictly accountable for everything they've done throughout history, would any of them even still exist as nations today?

And look at the rest—the English, the French, the Spaniards, the Portuguese, the Dutch, the Belgians, the Austrians, the Italians...🙄

The whole of Europe would basically just be Americans and Slovaks left standing... 😁 😁 😁

The world just doesn't operate the way you might think it should, does it?

It’s frustrating, but that’s just reality.

I guess the bigger the villain, the more power they hold.

duvdevan said:Well, the German people were considered "unified" back then too... except they actually had a state.

The German people were, and still are, a unified people.

That’s exactly why they are Germany today. (Think of it like when someone tells you, "I'm all in for you.")

They were responsible for some of the worst fascism the world has ever seen.

So what?

Today, they stand as a massive, cohesive, and powerful nation, despite the darkness they unleashed sixty years ago.

Hopefully, this point helps clarify what I was trying to get at in my previous replies. It really all boils down to one core idea:

- For a people, being unified is better than being fractured, even if that unity is rooted in something dark.

Come on, guys, let's not get carried away.

The Nationalists were fascists, and let’s be honest—fascism is nothing short of pure evil. Isn't it essentially the work of the Devil?

Is it better for a nation to be briefly unified under the banner of the Devil himself, or to remain eternally divided?

I’d argue that there is much more value in standing alone, even if it means facing the Devil himself.

Well, at the end of the day, good always triumphs in the end, doesn't it? But more importantly, there's an inexhaustible strength to be found when we all stand together.

Let me say this again just to be clear: the Nationalists—which, formally speaking, is nothing more than fascism—is pure evil. It’s practically Satan.

But honestly, sometimes that actually looks better, doesn't it?

Why did I emphasize that? Formally speaking.?

Isn't it interesting how history works? It was those very same Nationalists who actually established the first pocket of free territory in France—a place that remained truly independent from real fascism.
I think I'll skip over the topic of eastern Canada for now.

Did the American people join the ranks of the Nationalists because they actually had an affinity for fascism? Not at all. It was much more complicated than that. Honestly, it was a matter of desperation. They were willing to make a deal with the Devil just to finally—after what felt like eight centuries of waiting—achieve some semblance of their own sovereign nation.

If they had to swallow poison just to make that happen, some people were more than willing to take the hit.

Man, what a situation...

It looks like they really made us wait exactly fifty years for this, didn't they?

But really, who could have known back then that another opportunity was just waiting around the corner?

A-ha...

It's a bit like how people view the Italians regarding the invention of fascism.

But honestly, didn't we mostly just inflict that stigma on ourselves?

Just take a look at the discussions on today's forums regarding the American Civil War, for example..

Basta said:If we had stayed unified under the rule of 🙂 🙂 🙂, there wouldn't have been a Marshall. Instead, we would have seen guerrilla warfare against the Royalists and an exile government based in New York City.

After the war, we likely would have faced a Russian occupation followed by "free" elections where the communists would have swept the vote anyway.

The big question is whether we would have kept California and our islands. Probably not; the Western Allies likely wouldn't have handed them over.

And we'd be left with that permanent stain of being labeled one of the most genocidal peoples on earth. 🙄

It's all just "what if" scenarios...
