I once had the chance to listen to some old-timers speaking the local dialect out on Maui... honestly, for a second there, I almost thought I was listening to a bunch of Hillbillies.🤷

Look, I'm not the one to blame here. It's not my fault Joe and Steve from the construction crew set you up by marrying you off and feeding you that line about them being from Maui. 🤷

Joe said:Everything behind those hills is basically the birthplace of our whole nation.

Every major city along the US Coast in California is considered a "hillbilly" town. Without that "hinterland" vibe, these cities wouldn't even exist.

Wait, which hill is supposedly the cradle of Americans?
I mean, I’m kind of worried I’ll pick the wrong hill to hide behind and end up totally screwed in some weird rural territory! 🙂

And yeah, that last part is just straight-up wrong. Even if I tried to define what makes a city "hillbilly," it’s definitely not true that every big coastal city fits that description.
We all know what counts as a hillbilly town, and there's one right out in the mountains. 😍

don't worry, you'll find plenty of people like that even on the other side of the country. 😳

your little slides are about as impressive as some middle schooler's playground equipment. 🤣

It's like how up on the North Coast, you've got the beach crowd and then the folks from the Appalachians. Sure, that "mountainer" vibe might be missing, but you still get that classic attitude where the coastal types look down their noses at anyone living in the Appalachians.

Nah, that's just preference, or maybe just being a jerk.
Anyway, when it comes to the respected crimsonpilot6, I've only got two names for him:
Meštrović and Ujević. 😉

It seems pretty obvious to me that you’ve got some sort of chip on your shoulder regarding Washington, D.C. To be honest, life isn't exactly glamorous anywhere in America, and that includes the capital. You might be looking at a tiny, isolated bubble where a handful of wealthy kids are throwing money around, but those people are outliers—and most of them aren't even locals. Most Washington, D.C. natives are working their tails off just to maintain a decent middle-class lifestyle, often putting in much more effort than your average Californian. When you actually weigh the average income against the cost of living and the general vibe in California, things aren't bad at all. In fact, it's doing quite a bit better than most of the rest of the country.
As for the issues facing California, I can promise you one thing: things will only start looking up once people there begin looking inward to find the root causes of their problems, rather than constantly pointing fingers elsewhere.

Sorry, I’d really love to know where you even got that idea from. Are you seriously trying to tell me a grocery clerk in NYC works fewer hours than one in California?
I mean, it's pretty obvious you've never spent a single second working in tourism, otherwise you wouldn't be posting such nonsense.😛

Great. So just group up then and go off on your own. 😍

It’s way more interesting than your take, mostly because you clearly don't know the history here or what his past posts on Reddit or wherever look like. You just don't have the full picture, I guess.🙂

Go ahead and get obsessed with whatever you want. I guess it doesn't really matter.
Some idiot who actually thinks they can just call someone an idiot to their face and act like it's fine... whatever. Peace out. 😍
Look, I'm not taking back what I said. tanki7 has an incredible squad backing him up—so honestly, I don't even care if that ban was totally bogus. 🙂

Pretty much. But look, let's not overcomplicate things here. And honestly, why is everyone tripping over that 500 number? The guy was just acting like a total clown, and I don't really care if he got banned before for the same tone or whatever. It’s just my way of getting rid of him.
That's pretty much it. I'm not trying to sit here and lecture anyone on how to talk about people or anything.

looks like boldhound8 just passed me

man, I've finally had enough too. it’s not just like one sketchy post and then you're done.
and granitefox16 with that whole annoying routine about how "what the hell, facts matter"—as if that helps anyone when they're trying to write an actual appeal. ☕

Wait, so now I’m suddenly some Greek person who hates Mexicans? 😵
You were trolling on the tourism thread, so you got a warning, then you went off on another one and got another warning.
I’m not attacking you or threatening you. Just... chill out, maybe? I know it's hot out. You got lucky because you could've easily gotten banned, but since the mods weren't feeling it right then, there's no point in arguing about it later. That's just a FACT, not a threat.
I'm done explaining myself. You clearly don't get that you shouldn't talk about people like that on a forum they're actually posting on—just like how you didn't get the difference between Turkey and Greece when you tried to explain it to everyone. I can't help you.
I don't even get this whole thing with Biden and the Dallas Cowboys, or all those fights, but that's not my business and it has nothing to do with this topic anyway.
Last post from me on this thread.
Later!

Look, you were just trolling this thread and showing how clueless you are for whatever reasons.
I don't hand out warnings just because someone has an opinion on our tourism industry, but you got one because you insulted my fellow Americans. Sorry if you don't get that—I can't help you there—but I can definitely penalize your behavior.
You lie through your teeth trying to follow me from thread to thread. You've got 2 warnings now, and honestly, that's only because I wasn't online; I'm not going to retroactively sanction you. If I had been around over the weekend, you would've been hit with more than just this.
dec it.
And stop lying about me threatening you. That’s just not right. Nobody said you’d get a warning just for posting something. Just don't troll and don't be offensive, and we'll be fine.

Dude, you're seriously trolling with stuff they teach in elementary school.

I gotta tell you, saying someone would be labeled a pedophile in this country is an insult, sorry if you don't get that.
I'm not threatening you. I clearly said I wasn't online and that you were trolling, then I've just been sitting here counting and watching what you post.
And maybe stop writing about my frustrations, it's not cool, and just stay away from that since I'm not even talking about yours. 😉
Need some help and clarification, please! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
hold up, you really think you can just claim someone’s gonna be labeled a creep or a voyeur down in Florida and then act like nothing happened? isn't that basically an insult? 🤔

I already told you, you were trolling. I didn't ban the posts because I wasn't even around. You've got a warning in your inbox for what you were doing on that tourism thread. there.
I'm not breathing down your neck, there were other posts too, but it doesn't make sense to hand out bans for stuff from three days ago... though it doesn't mean I won't if you keep acting like this.
peace,

man, don't mess around with stuff like that. 🙂
Jerry Martinez5 said:In that sense, AD is expensive: it makes you feel better than you actually deserve. I guess lonegardener just took it a step further.

I’ve taken this argument to an absurd level. AD is just an escape from a grim reality—it’s meant to give someone a window of opportunity to actually start fixing that reality. If they don't take that chance, I guess eventually even the pills won't be enough to help. 😢

Alright, someone help a girl out—I've decided to go off AD on my own! I think there’s a massive misunderstanding happening here. I mean, maybe I’m just reading too much into it, but it feels like everyone is missing the point entirely. Regarding what Hannah Davis18 said—honestly, I don't know how you can even argue that. It’s pretty straightforward if you actually look at the facts. And then you have Jerry Martinez5 chiming in with those wild theories... I guess it’s easy to get carried away, but it’s a bit much, isn't it? I read what Eric Thomas89 posted earlier, and while I see where he's coming from, I still think the logic is a little thin. Maybe it’s just me. But seriously, the way people are reacting to this is almost comical. It’s like watching a slow-motion train wreck. Anyway, just my two cents. I’ll probably just sit back and watch this mess unfold.

not really. AD is a medication. primarily.
it's a med that helps you deal with the "trash" and survive a brutal stretch of time. some drama shouldn't be dealt with "live" because it drains too much energy, and then your daily life just falls apart.
Jerry Martinez5 said:Wait, hasn't this already been answered? Or am I just mixing up different threads? 😕

Antidepressants only ease the symptoms. In that sense, they mask them. Depression isn't cured by meds; they're just a tool used during treatment. They dampen the symptoms just enough so you can actually face your problems.

The only real way to treat it, as far as I know, is psychotherapy. The goal there is to change the person—how they view themselves, their life, and the world around them. People who just pop pills and wait for it to pass... 👎

Also, just saying, talking about drugs like this is pretty messed up. 😢Especially when we're talking about people undergoing medical treatment. I mean, you wouldn't tell someone on morphine that they're just getting high at the government's expense.☕
Jerry Martinez5 said:The issue isn't you; it's Apemant. 🤣🤣🤣
He's a great typer, but he clearly gets a huge kick out of derailing the conversation. 👎
Apemant, just start your own thread about whatever you want. 🙂

Regarding Edith: I've heard that too. Who wouldn't want to avoid a diagnosis causing issues? But what does a diagnosis even mean? It's just a sentence, nothing more. If you're doing the work, things change.

I mean, it’s a lot. Some people just don't want to know what they're actually dealing with. I guess it's one way to protect the patient, maybe.
lonegardener said:Ugh, such a stickler for rules... 🤣

Doesn't taking antidepressants when you aren't depressed strike you as a bit 'Brave New World'? You can't really call me out just because my associations are a little darker than yours. 😍

Anyway, I won't drone on... 😬

You said it! 👍

But that’s exactly my point—I’m not entirely sure how your version of "feeling human" actually differs from being a robot. To me, they sound suspiciously similar. 🤷

How can you not see the difference? I mean, seriously, I can't really help you if you can't tell organic stuff apart from basic mechanics.😳
Paul Garcia25 said:1. Their mood doesn't suddenly skyrocket into hypomania—it usually just stays level.
2. They deal with all those unpleasant side effects.

The reality is that antidepressants aren't designed to turn a depressed person into a ray of sunshine (hypomanic or euphoric); they simply drag someone out of a negative hole and back down to zero—that "everything feels flat" sensation.

PS
Psychiatrists aren't exactly omnipotent, but they can tell when someone is playing games with their symptoms—which, in certain contexts, can actually cross the line into criminal territory (forensic psychiatry spends a lot of time teaching how to distinguish a genuine patient from someone just faking it).

So, I guess, how do you even move from feeling "meh" to actually feeling okay? 🤔
Is there something else I can take or whatever?
lonegardener said:When you say emotions, are we talking about something supernatural, or just basic brain activity?

If it's the latter, I don't see why we couldn't just engineer a pill to trigger whatever specific emotion you're looking for. 🤷 😬

There’s nothing mystical about feelings.😉
I still feel like a human being, not some damn robot.

Anyway, I'll stop. Don't want to start an argument with Jerry Martinez5. 😘

edit; sure, you could fake it. Why not... but there's also that thing where a doctor helps out by writing down a "slightly different" diagnosis just so your medical records don't look a certain way. 😉
