So, when are you actually going to have a kid, and more importantly, what’s the hold-up? 😁
Honestly, calling that amount for an amniocentesis is a bit of a stretch, if you ask me 🙄
"So, when are you popping?"
"Are you there yet?"
"Is it happening?"
"When’s the big day?"
"How much longer have we got?"
"Man, you must be miserable in this heat."

🙂

Anyway, I’ve still got 25 days until my due date.
God help me if I end up going past the deadline.
Oh, come on, ironjackal20 🤦
I was chauffeured in there sitting right up front in the passenger seat 🥳

So don't even try to lecture me, because I've already been through the wringer 🙂 🤣
Michael Martin4 said:Yesterday I was out grabbing coffee with a friend who has two kids, and this guy actually tried to force me into the backseat because apparently pregnant women in their third trimester aren't allowed to wear seatbelts. Honestly, I was just annoyed, so I sat in the back anyway and buckled up. ☕
I’m still driving, obviously, and buckling up feels totally normal to me—the belt just sits low across my belly and between my breasts. But driving without a seatbelt? That feels 😲!!

Also, people constanty get on my case about our stroller. We bought the Chicco umbrella stroller with the zero position option, but without the bassinet attachment. Now, the local busybodies are acting all shocked and asking if I’ve lost my mind for wanting to push the baby in just the stroller.

Oh, and I swung by work the other day for my usual paycheck, and some coworkers—they’re like 50 or 55—started judging me. They were questioning why I wear tight clothes when they all used to wear baggy stuff, even checking my shirt to see if it was stretchy enough or if it would squeeze the baby 🙄 while simultaneously preaching that you should just hold the baby in your lap instead of using a car seat 🙂

I mean, look, that’s just how people drove before car seats were even a thing. What does a 60-year-old woman know about modern safety? Honestly, I won't even get into the nightmare of how my own family drove me home from the hospital. 🤦 🤣
That ridiculous Dove commercial claiming it "nourishes my skin"—give me a break. My hands know the truth, my hips know the truth, my fingers know the truth, even my belly button can feel the lie. Aaaaaaaah! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Angela Davis74 said:Then there's my mother-in-law, making comments about how I've put on weight, claiming it's just my stomach. I simply remind her that I was fit and attractive before her son ruined me. ☕

Sometimes I point out that I'm only 26 and have plenty of time to lose the weight. She can't handle that because she's obsessed with the fact that she's getting old. 😁

It's pathetic. 🙂

Even my own mother tells me I need to watch my weight, but she says it out of genuine concern that I'll overdo it during pregnancy. It isn't coming from malice, unlike that woman. 😠

😂 You seriously have to shut that kind of talk down immediately. Just hit them with the blunt truth—something along the lines of, "Look, I'm young and gorgeous, while you guys are just old and losing it." 😁
Honestly, everything just gets under my skin lately ☕

It’s always something—from those people making comments about whether you've put on weight, to the ones saying, "Well, we'll see how things go," or "Just see how you feel later." 🙄

And don't even get me started on the unsolicited questions from people who don't know the first thing about my life.

Yesterday, I was at the deli counter at Whole Foods, and the clerk is there slicing up some cheese and ham, and she just starts prying:
She goes, "So, how much longer?"
I tell her, "Two months."
She’s like, "Oh wow, still a long way to go!" 🙄
So, I just stay quiet.
Then she asks, "Is it a girl or a boy?"
"A boy," I say.
"And what are you going to name him?"
"I have no idea." (Look, I don't owe you my entire life story.)
And then she actually says, "Ooh, choosing a name is so hard; I hear plenty of couples end up fighting over it!"

I just grabbed my cheese and said, "Thanks, bye." 🙄
ironjackal20 said:I heard that too, but only during those final weeks before delivery when doctors tell moms to start tracking movement. If that rule starts at 23 weeks, then my little guy is doing the exact opposite. 😁.

Right now he’s wide awake and kicking constantly, but I know he’ll be dead quiet in an hour. It doesn't seem right that he's always active while moms are trying to rest and sleep, since babies need their sleep too. 😕

So, I asked today, and my doctor basically said it's perfectly fine to have days where things feel a bit sluggish, as long as you speak up if you're worried. She even said there's no real requirement to count every single kick—you can if you want to, but it's not mandatory. Of course, that was just her answering based on how many weeks I am right now. Who knows what she'll say closer to the due date? I'm not going to lose any sleep over it right this second.

The bottom line is: stop the paranoia. If he's a little quiet for a day, it's not a crisis. Everything is fine as long as you're still feeling him every single day, whether it's a heavy kick or just a little flutter 🙂.
ironjackal20 said:I don't quite get this... who is supposed to be seeing 10 movements, the mom or the baby, and starting from which week if we're talking about the baby?

The general rule is you want to feel ten kicks or rolls within an hour—basically, just making sure you actually feel them—though I recall reading somewhere else that the benchmark is over a two-hour window.🤔 Honestly, I have no clue which week they expect you to start counting, but the whole thing sounds a bit surreal to me. Babies aren't programmed like Swiss watches; they have quiet days just like anyone else. They don't just tap you on the shoulder at the exact same time every single day.🤷

I'm honestly more stressed out than anyone else right now.🙂

I’ve got my doctor's appointment in an hour, so I’ll just lay it all out there and get some real answers.
Look, there’s really no reason to stress out about it. It’s just one of those days where everything goes sideways...
I honestly don't get why those women feel targeted—you know, the ones whose husbands spend all day out there pulling weeds and trimming the hedges instead of helping out🤷

Anyway, I don't want to go totally off-topic here, but

it’s driving me crazy because I couldn't hear the baby clearly at all today🙂
I mean, I was practically contorting myself into a pretzel trying to listen, but nope, nothing🙂
John Wilson9 said:It’s honestly ridiculous how people call it "slavery" when a guy just wants to crash after work. I don't know what kind of women they're talking about then—the ones whose husbands never lift a single finger around the house ☕
Me? I’ve basically been on vacation for a week staying at my mom’s place... He gets home around 5, maybe takes a quick breather, then hits the books or starts tackling stuff like cleaning his room, organizing the closet, painting, whatever. If things need doing, he'll vacuum or toss a load of laundry in... but seriously, where is he supposed to find more time? I'm the one cooking lunch every day, doing the ironing, and handling all that other stuff 🤷
At the end of the day, if a couple works out this way and they're both happy, why does everyone have to jump down their throats calling women "slaves" and men "useless"??? 🙄

Honestly, I feel for those women. Truly. 😢

A close friend of mine actually just went through a divorce for this exact reason. She reached her breaking point because she was drowning in housework while he just sat there like a statue, refusing to move a muscle—and then had the nerve to demand specific meals and drinks! To top it off, they had a tiny baby at home. It’s just heartbreaking, really. 😢

he’s currently laying tile in our new place...
plus, we have a massive yard—about 10,000 square feet—filled with fruit trees, flowers, and landscaping... that needs constant upkeep all year round.
To me, it just makes more sense for my mom to come over and help out with the housework, while he stays busy with his projects so we can move into the new house sooner.

You’re looking at this strictly from your own perspective—I'm assuming you live in a 500-square-foot apartment on the 8th floor of a high-rise, where the only thing to do after work is crash on the sofa and watch TV.

I’m looking at this from mine—which is everything I just mentioned.

Different lifestyles require different approaches.
If you honestly find that hard to wrap your head around, then I don't even know what to tell you.

😂
Just try to imagine my reality. I live in a house 😛 with a massive backyard 🥳 that actually requires effort to maintain.
And look... he isn't even through the door until 5 PM...

But honestly, since we moved in together, my mom hasn't come over once to vacuum the floors, scrub the windows, dust the shelves, or whip up dinner. He handles all of that; I just tackle the little things so I don't have to be bending over all day—you know, throwing something quick in the microwave, wiping down the table, doing the dishes, stuff like that. In our house, this is just how things work. It’s totally normal for us. 🤷
It was like this before, and it’s like this now.
I spent my entire life working all day long, including weekends. And for what? I can't exactly turn around and expect him to start vacuuming the living room at 9 PM, so why should I be any different???
I will never understand why women feel the need to turn themselves into servants.
And once he finally makes it home, what’s his routine? Does he just collapse onto the couch and pass out? 🤷 until his next shift starts?
northernseal6 said:Man, it’s honestly no surprise that women end up with less space in certain industries compared to men.
There's just nothing we can do about it.

🙂

And what really gets under my skin is how some people go overboard defending their husbands—acting like he's some martyr just because he pulls a 6 AM to 6 PM shift.
So what? Big deal. ☕

Anyway, I'm done playing the "nice girl" role.

Go ahead, tear me apart. 🙂
I honestly don't get it when someone’s mom or mother-in-law shows up just to scrub the floors and whip up lunch... I mean, seriously, what exactly is the husband doing while all that's happening? 🤔
northernseal6 said:I don't get the whole thing about the two women. Is tidying up somehow hardwired into female DNA while men are exempt?😕

The way people say "wittle baby," "sweetie pie," or "little munchkin" drives me absolutely crazy. I just say "child," but apparently that isn't "motherly" enough.
Also, hearing the word "mommy" used in every single context—at the doctor, at daycare, even on this forum—really bugs me.
It blows my mind how everyone acts shocked when I say I want my child to take my last name. I honestly don't see any reason why a kid should automatically carry the father's name instead of mine.
It really irritates me when women call their moms to come over and clean or cook after they give birth, yet they rarely mention their husbands, boyfriends, or dads helping out. Sure, not everyone can cook, but anyone can wash dishes, vacuum, or run to the grocery store. Everything else is just an excuse.
And it totally gets under my skin when people claim women are more naturally bonded to kids, or that we want them more, or that we're better at changing and bathing them. From where I'm standing, the only difference between me and a guy is that he can't give birth or breastfeed.
P.S. Obviously, I'm excited about my baby and I love them!🙂
Alright, go ahead and tear me apart.

Well, let's both get crucified then, because I agree with every single word, especially the bolded parts.😁

Every time I scroll through Facebook, I see hundreds of photo albums titled things like "My Little Gold," "My Silver," "My Little Champ," or some other ridiculous pet name... 🙂
