Grace Edwards said:What the hell, what kind of joke is this, calling him the richest man ever? John D. Rockefeller absolutely crushed him when he was actually alive, let alone if you factor in inflation today 🤦

It wouldn't be Ridley Scott without some serious data manipulation.

And does anyone else just happen to have a billion or two extra lying around in their pocket?

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Basically, this whole thing is built around the crazy true story about how J. Paul Getty's grandson got snatched.

Release date: December 8, 2017 (USA)

Directed by Ridley Scott

Honestly, I’d love to see you all get hit with a massive reality check reform—get up at 5 AM and get your hands dirty in the fields ☕

Look, I’m not saying anything against him—honestly, he’s alright—but given his size and stature, ☕

if he actually wants to score a higher rating in a competitive league, he’s gonna have to step up his game and put in some real work.

It’s loaded with metaphors and symbolism that most people probably won't even wrap their heads around, and honestly, the biggest reason is simply because it was directed by David Lynch. 😁

strictly within the realm of low-budget experimental cinema👍

Nah, I am being dead serious here. ☕

What exactly makes it such a masterpiece?

It’s getting pretty exhausting, honestly. This whole cooking thing is clearly just a massive parody and a nod to Ridley, where every single detail feels like it's trying way too hard to be something else...

Look, it's pretty damn simple—I don't waste my time watching stuff I already know I won't like. If the genre or the basic premise looks like trash, I'm out. I'm not forcing myself through it based on some vague info. 🤷

When would I ever judge a movie solely on its "vibe"? Only if I went in totally blind, without knowing anything beforehand.

But let's be real, man, I pick what I watch. I don't sit there being forced to endure garbage. ☕
Seriously, I can't believe I actually have to spell this out for you. Look, if you're judging a flick based on its specific genre or subgenre—like, say, if it's a Sci-fi monster horror action adventure—then you judge it by whether or not it actually delivers on those specific tropes, right? 🤷

(And let’s be real, this definitely isn't some Columbo episode, unless we're trying to turn this forum into a literal daycare here)
I mean, don't go digging through a movie like this looking for deep, soul-searching dialogue or complex romantic dynamics... give me a break...
briskhound2 said:Of course you don't get it, because once you dump that movie into the Slasher horror action sci-fi category, it’s basically garbage. That's just how the rating game works. Honestly, it's the same logic you've been peddling for the last few posts.

I can't believe you actually typed this out. I really, truly cannot believe it. 🤦

Predator? You know, that specific look you get when you realize you're absolutely screwed... ☕

I just don't get why people are sleeping on this masterpiece, I seriously don't get it...

dustycanyon5 said:I gave Predator a hard 0/10.
Look, obviously that’s just my take, not some universal truth or whatever.

Listen, buddy, you are basically the textbook definition of how to mess up movie criticism. You're judging films based on these rigid, preconceived notions instead of looking at what they actually are.

If Predator is fundamentally an action Sci-Fi ADVENTURE horror THRILLER, then that's the yardstick you use to measure it. You shouldn't be sitting there hunting for Lynch in every single frame.

The way you're doing it is just narrow-minded and overly subjective.

And honestly? You aren't even special. It’s the big trend right now—everyone walks in with these pre-packaged standards and biases already set in stone, and that's a mistake from the very first second. ☕
I mean, maybe it counts as a modern movie 🤷

I'm telling you, I bet that guy Shimles didn't have the slightest clue how to actually talk to her, so he just scanned this instead. He’s basically just trying to play it smooth and flirt, though honestly? After all this drama, he might even end up totally wrecking her life ☕

Back then, you could only vent about how much life sucked during a quiet family dinner at home, assuming you were lucky enough that your best friend wasn't some undercover FBI informant, because if you were, you'd be absolutely screwed.

Forget these online forums, Facebook, or any of those local dive bars where people whine—everyone would just shut their mouths and pretend everything was perfect. And those few guys who might actually find a backbone after a couple of beers? They’d probably end up getting a PhD in masonry and heading straight to Alcatraz.

Man, if I could just get my head straight regarding soccer too... what a disaster. It’s like trying to watch a car crash in slow motion where everyone is wearing cleats instead of seatbelts. Everything is just a mess.

is the only "book" you've ever managed to read in your entire life?☕

Everything you've read, I've lived through. ☕

What exactly isn't working? 😵

on your end? There's way too much ☕
bluecyclist64 said:Ah, so you're one of those people who doesn't actually read books?

Fine, I'll be merciful; I know how much you struggle with basic literacy.

The Postman isn't some cheap rip-off of Mad Max, not by a long shot. It was adapted from an excellent, award-winning novel by David Brin and stands as a pretty solid film—aside from that absolutely moronic scene where Costner charges like a lunatic to grab a letter from a 🤦)

Waterworld, on the other hand, is complete garbage. It’s an insult to your intelligence, and I will concede that the movie definitely tries too hard to channel Mad Max.

Now this is a fantastic post! 👍

To be honest, I have to admit that I reached my limit with Robin Williams; I simply couldn't stand looking at him on screen anymore.

And then there's me, supposedly "struggling" with my reading skills 🙏

Must've mixed him up with the guy from Book of Eli, but honestly, who cares.☕
