How to clean a dental retainer? in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
Hey there,
so I’ve been wearing this night guard for a while now, and even though I make sure to soak it in a cleaning solution every single week, I’m still running into an issue. some kind of weird, "gritty" buildup has started accumulating on the outside, specifically tucked away in those little grooves where my bottom teeth sit.

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get rid of that gunk? I really don't want to have to shell out money for a whole new guard because, honestly, this one fits my bite perfectly right now.

EDIT: Just to clarify, it’s a night guard.
Keyboard recommendations? in Computer Peripherals ·
Keyboard for around $100 - I mostly use it for gaming and a fair amount of typing, so I'm looking for something that hits that middle ground between the two.
Ideally, it would be great if it didn't have a US layout (without those extra characters), though I guess that's not strictly necessary.
Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
That’s basically what I was thinking too—most of the time, my monitor is sitting about 28 inches from my face.

Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a 25" monitor? I feel like that might be the absolute "sweet spot" for me.

This Dell 24" Nitro looks pretty great to me... a 1ms response time on an IPS panel? From what I’ve gathered, IPS panels usually have slower response times, so this seems like a really solid option if there isn't anything larger available in that 24.5/25" range.

Hey everyone, I'm on the hunt for a solid 1080p gaming monitor, ideally staying under $400.
The main thing is that I'll be using this for gaming, but also for a ton of Word processing and general web browsing—since my job involves a massive amount of reading and typing, I really need something that hits that sweet spot between performance and clarity.

Right now, I've narrowed my search down to two specific models, but I'd honestly appreciate any and all advice you guys might have!

1. HP G2590VXQ 24.5" - $417 - 24.5", Adaptive-Sync, 75Hz. The 1ms response time is a nice little perk, but I am a bit worried about it having a TN panel instead of something better.

2. Dell SE2717H 27" - $417 - 27", Adaptive-Sync, 75Hz (??). On the plus side, it’s got a bigger screen and great reviews, plus it uses an IPS panel. My big hesitation here is the 6ms response time... I guess the logical question is, does that actually matter? I've been using a 2ms monitor until now, so I'm not sure if I'll even notice the difference, especially since it has Adaptive-Sync?

Regarding that second monitor, I'm a little confused about the refresh rate itself—some places say it's 60 Hz, while others claim 75Hz?

I'm really torn between going with the 24.5" or the 27". Part of me is worried because I've heard that 1080p resolution on a 27" screen isn't ideal and that you can actually start seeing the individual pixels—is there any truth to that?
I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find a large bulk pack of Haribo gummies in that rectangular plastic container? I think it’s probably the 1000-gram size or something like that. Thanks!🙂
Skin reaction after hair removal? in Health ·
So, about three days ago, I decided to use an epilator on my chest, and honestly, everything is just so inflamed right now. My skin is covered in these red spots that won't go away, and some of them actually look almost like finger marks or bruises. I was wondering if anyone knows what I should apply to calm down this reaction and get rid of the redness? Thanks!🙂
Psychological changes during puberty? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Thanks for sharing your thoughts🙂

To be honest, there’s absolutely no history of mental health issues in my family, so I don't really have a baseline for this

I am in a relationship, but... well, dating can be its own special kind of headache sometimes, if you know what I mean😁
Psychological changes during puberty? in Psychology & Therapy ·
So, I'm 15 and a half, currently a freshman in high school. Around the start of summer, I noticed my memory was getting really bad—and my concentration too. As time went on, I started obsessing over it more and more. I’d try to memorize all these random, unimportant things just to prove to myself that everything was fine, but when I couldn't, I’d go looking for reasons why. It kind of spiraled into me overanalyzing every single thing I do, every move I make, and everything happening around me. I spent way too much time Googling stuff, and honestly, seeing all those explanations—ranging from just being stressed out to extreme stuff like mental illnesses—just made me feel way more overwhelmed. A few months ago, I decided I needed to check if I was actually okay or if this was somehow tied to my intelligence. I went through the whole process: I had a CT scan and an MRI of my brain, and the results were totally clear. I also took some intelligence and IQ tests; my IQ was somewhere around 130 or 135, I don't remember exactly (is that even a normal score?), and regarding the general intelligence test, I mostly just realized I have decent motor skills and stuff like that... I guess that gave me a little peace of mind that physically I'm fine, but even though I've pushed aside the idea that I have a serious mental illness, my overthinking is just getting worse and worse. For example, if someone asks me a question and I give an automatic "yes" or "no," I'll end up ruminating later about how I answered without thinking—even if my answer would have been the same if I *had* thought about it. Or, like, why do I think the way I think? Or when I'm just relaxing and watching TV, not thinking about anything at all, and suddenly I start overanalyzing, and then I wonder how I can even remember what happened in the movie if I wasn't consciously focusing on it while I was watching. All of this is starting to mess with my schoolwork because while I'm studying, I'm too busy thinking about *how* to remember, and my grades have absolutely tanked. So, I guess I'm wondering: is this just a normal phase of growing up, or am I crossing a line into something more extreme? Should I be doing something specific about this? I'm not sure if it matters, but I hit puberty pretty early. I've always felt a bit more mature than most kids my age; I was already hitting growth spurts in 4th grade, and by 6th grade, I was already fully hairy and had started shaving. Thanks 🙂
I was wondering where I might be able to pick up some couple bracelets here in the States? Something along these lines:

or maybe something similar. Thanks!
Bad posture: How to fix it? in Health ·
I’ve been noticing two main issues with my posture lately.

1. My shoulder blades stick out really badly. I’ve also been dealing with gynecomastia for about four years now. Since I had a sudden growth spurt between middle school and high school, it seems to be slowly subsiding, but because I spent so much time slouching forward to hide it, I’m having a hard time standing up straight now. Honestly, whenever I try to pull my shoulders back, my back just hurts. I haven't really worked out in six years—and when I did try in the past, it never really stuck. I used to be pretty overweight, maybe around 150-155 cm and 140-155 lbs, but now I'm 5'11" and about 143 lbs. Still, I don't exercise at all. I heard somewhere that this might be happening because my core and back muscles are too weak, so I guess I'm wondering if there's any truth to that? Also, does anyone know what kind of exercises I could actually do? I can't find anything online specifically for a teenager like me—everything I see assumes you have access to a gym, Pilates classes, or a full fitness center.

My second issue is that my head sticks out way too far, almost like a vulture's head.😁 I mean, from the side, it really looks like it's jutting forward away from my body. I was wondering if there's a way to fix my neck position...
Thanks in advance 😁

vividpilot14 said:Did you undergo the skin test—you know, the one where they inject it into your forearm—or did you just get the standard shot in the shoulder?

Well, I did the test first. There wasn't really any reaction at all, but then after I got the actual vaccine, I ended up with this weird lump on the bottom part of my shoulder.

Douglas Hernandez63 said:So, here’s the deal. I went in to get vaccinated against tuberculosis, but I ended up having a really intense reaction to the shot. It turns out there was something going on related to TB, so they put me on antibiotics for about six months—I can't quite remember the names, just that they were red and yellow capsules. After those six months were up, my doctor told me everything looked good and all my tests came back negative. Now, I’m kind of stuck wondering about something. I’ve talked to people who dealt with similar issues, and some were saying that it wasn't actually tuberculosis in the lungs, but just that the bacteria was present somewhere in the body. Then again, others have told me straight up that I did have it in my lungs and that I seriously need to quit smoking. To be honest, I smoke maybe two or three cigarettes a day just for the hell of it; I wouldn't call myself a heavy smoker or anything, but I have been dealing with some lung discomfort for quite a while now. I guess I'm just wondering... is that pain actually because of the TB, or is it just from the smoking and having poor lung capacity? I haven't done any actual exercise in years and I pretty much just spend my time hanging out at home. Thanks

Can anyone help me out with this? 😁 😁

Carl Sanchez4 said:Generally speaking, swimming is an excellent way to work on your back and your posture. Your best bet would be to have a professional take a look at you so they can suggest specific swimming techniques or targeted exercises. That said, if you start swimming tomorrow, you really can't go wrong. You still have plenty of time to correct your posture, but I wouldn't wait too long, otherwise, it’ll just get harder to fix. Good luck!

People have actually already told me all that, but... honestly, I've been feeling so self-conscious about my gynecomastia that it’s been hard. I spent the entire summer just wearing t-shirts; I didn't spend even a single second out in the ocean because of it. It's just been tough.🙂

So, here’s the deal. I’m 14, currently in 8th grade. Between 5th and 7th grade, I really struggled with gynecomastia—basically just "man boobs"—and while they're still there, they look way better now because I've lost weight and started hitting the gym. But because of all that, I’ve developed this really bad posture. I actually went for a checkup recently, and the doctor told me my spine is perfectly fine, but my shoulder blades stick out quite a bit. I don't know how else to put it, but they really pop out on my back, which makes it look like my whole spine is curved, and honestly, it's really getting to me. I wanted to post here first before I go back to the doctor, because some people have told me that my bone structure is just built that way and there isn't much I can do, while others suggested maybe there are specific exercises that could help. If anyone here knows anything about this, I’d really appreciate the help.

How do I get in shape? in Health ·
Okay, so, I have a few different things going on with my body, and I didn't really want to clutter the forum by opening like a thousand separate threads, so I figured I'd just put everything right here in one post. I'm 14 years old, I'm about 5'11", and I weigh roughly 152 lbs...

1. I am so incredibly desperate to get visible abs. I’ve been doing crunches, squats, and all those kinds of exercises, but honestly, nothing seemed to be happening. I was actually thinking about giving up entirely, but then one day, I went to flex my core and—get this—they felt hard as a rock, but they were hidden under this layer of 😠 😠. Now I'm kind of lost on what to do next. I thought maybe I should try dieting, but I heard that extreme dieting can really mess with your muscle mass and might cause you to "lose" muscle, which sounds scary. So, I guess I'm wondering how I can lose that fat layer so my abs actually show through?

2. I also have an issue with "man boobs," or gynecomastia, I think it's called. I've heard people say the best way to fix it is taking testosterone, but apparently, a side effect is extra hair growth, and I'm already pretty hairy. I've had hair on my chest and stomach since I was 10, so I'm wondering if there's a way to deal with this faster without having to resort to any crazy medical stuff?

3. And then, of course, like most teenagers, acne is driving me absolutely crazy. It's mostly on my upper arms—you know, the part that's always covered by a sleeve—and on my back. Since I was being pretty stupid, I kept picking at the pimples while they were still red, and now, unfortunately, I have scars. I've realized that's not working, so I guess I'm asking for the simplest way to clear this up?

4. Now, this last thing isn't even about my physical appearance, but it's actually the first thing I really want to fix. My friends basically talked me into smoking, and now I've been at it for about 5 or 6 months, going through a pack a day. I know it's bad, obviously, and I'm only 14, but I just can't seem to stop. I'll decide that I've had enough, but then the very next day, it's like automatic—as soon as I step outside, I find myself buying a pack without even thinking about it. Or, even if I manage to go 2 or 3 hours without a cigarette, I'll be hanging out with my friends, smell the smoke, and I just... light up. It's so frustrating because I really want to quit, but I feel totally stuck. To make matters worse, I actually dealt with tuberculosis a couple of months ago, so quitting is even more important now... but I don't want to use patches or anything like that because I really don't want my parents to ever find out about this...

Thanks 😁
