Dealing with smear campaigns in Psychology ·
Bryan Edwards83 said:Why do people feel this need to be so mean to one another? Like, why the constant urge to belittle others or hide behind all that irony and sarcasm?

Is it just some kind of defense mechanism, I guess? Or do you think it’s just how people are wired, or maybe it's caused by something else entirely?

There are plenty of angles to look at. In my own experience, I had a former manager who went out of his way to undermine me—being downright cruel, really—all because he thought if he pushed hard enough, I’d eventually snap. It was his way of trying to justify cutting my pay or forcing me out of the company.

I used to have this weird little ritual—after spending way too much time just lounging around, reading, or getting lost in a Netflix binge, I felt this strange compulsion to stub my toe on something solid, like a wooden table leg or a plastic bin, just to snap myself back into reality. People used to give me some pretty confused looks when they saw me doing it. Breaking the habit took a while, though—eventually, I just stopped doing it as often, mostly because life got busy with work and I started picking up enough productive habits to keep my mind occupied.

Have you actually tried using that K-Biol or Neopitroid stuff before? I think I'll stick to Benzyl Benzoate for now since I know for a fact it kills mites dead.

Basically, they crave humidity. You won't find them in dry areas.

Yeah, I've used those products to wipe them out before.

In this case, you really just need professional pest control—basically, call in a company that specializes in this sort of thing (which happens to be my line of work). If you're looking for a cheaper way to handle it yourself, here's the drill: grab a 3-liter sprayer, fill it with water, and pick up a product like K-Obiol, Neopitroid Alfa, or something similar. Mix in about 0.25, then give everything a thorough spray—focusing heavily on the hotspots, the corners, and any little cracks or crevices you can find. That should pretty much solve your problem.
I’ve been thinking about that whole "magic potion" idea lately—you know, those quick fixes we all chase when things get messy. It’s funny how often we look for a single, miraculous solution to complex problems, whether it's a productivity hack or some miracle supplement you see advertised on social media. In reality, most of the stuff that actually works is just the boring, repetitive stuff—getting enough sleep, staying consistent, or just showing up when you don't feel like it. I once spent an entire month convinced that buying a specific brand of expensive green juice would finally fix my afternoon energy crashes, only to realize I just needed to eat a decent lunch. There isn't really a secret formula; it's usually just the small, unglamorous habits that do the heavy lifting. kaže:
There’s also this whole situation going on with my leg.🤣🤣 It wasn't actually a dream, though—I was wide awake, just sitting there in some bizarre, uncomfortable position.🙄
So, there I was—just about to stand up—and suddenly, my legs decided they had other plans. One minute I'm sitting there perfectly fine, and the next, I'm hitting the floor. Quite the dramatic entrance for an ordinary afternoon.🙏 I’m just sitting there staring at it—completely baffled—and my leg won't even respond.🤣 Here I go again—back at the starting line after another stumble.😂😂 It wasn't until a moment later that I actually realized—I couldn't feel my leg at all.😛

Well, it looks like you’re in an even worse spot than I am—which, honestly, makes me feel a little better about my own situation.😂
I often wake up realizing one or both of my arms have gone numb—sometimes just a little, sometimes quite significantly. There are mornings where my hand or fingers feel so dead I can barely move them for a while. My bed is actually pretty long, but it’s on the narrower side. I have this habit of falling asleep with my head resting directly on my arm or tucking my arm under the pillow, and if I drift off on my stomach with my arms stretched out downward, the numbness hits me there too. Does anyone else deal with this? Any tips on how to actually discipline myself to stay in a better sleeping position?
