So, my kid got sick in the meantime, which means I’ve officially been pushed to the bottom of the priority list.
Basically, I went to the local Sleep Disorders Center, did a sleep study, a CT scan, and sat through a session with a psychologist. I was also taking Rialtin.
I even joined an R.E.m Facebook group for people dealing with REM sleep behavior disorder.
Just Google RSBD—there's tons of info out there... turns out we aren't alone in this.
The catch is that there seems to be a link between this disorder, Parkinson's, and a few other conditions.
Anyway, that's the long and short of it.
Like I said, I have enough on my plate right now that I barely have time to think about myself.

Some have a sweet taste, others are minty... anyway, just pop one under your tongue right before you hit the sack.
It’s not some magic bullet or a permanent cure where you take it for a week and suddenly you're fixed forever, but it definitely helps while you're using it. I think it'll do the trick for you too.

Thanks! 🙂!!!
Walter Thomas18 said:Yeah, but that isn't actually sleeping. Part of your brain stays wide awake. I honestly think melatonin would help there.
Speaking from experience.

I'll give it a shot! Can you just grab that at a CVS or do you need a prescription?
Sarah Ross21 said:Just kidding. What's the medical verdict? Like, would something mild like Ambien actually help?

Sorry, I've honestly never heard of anyone using that for this, so I'm genuinely curious.

Have you seen a neurologist yet? There’s a sleep disorder clinic over in Silicon Valley—you should definitely give them a shout!

I haven't seen a doctor and I've never tried Ambien. The thing is, it doesn't happen every single night, just once in a while. It feels a little ridiculous to go to a doctor for it, though I probably should just bite the bullet.
Besides, whenever I tell people what's going on, they usually look at me like I've lost my mind.
Walter Thomas18 said:Maybe try using some melatonin sublingual spray right before you hit the sack.
It might not kill the dreams entirely, but I bet it'll take the edge off those "wide awake" vibes.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Honestly, I sleep pretty well—it's just these crazy vivid dreams that get me.

A full investigation is definitely needed.

Sent from my Sony Xperia using Reddit

I was sleeping on the right side of the bed and dreamed my daughter was leaning out the window about to fall. In the dream, I lunged over the person sleeping on the left side of the bed and, with my full 140 lbs, slammed onto the floor with my right arm outstretched (trying to catch her). Diagnosis: fractured humerus. Then I dreamed I was walking down the street when suddenly walls appeared in front of and behind me, everything went dark, and I felt a mouse tangling around my legs. I screamed and woke up on the floor at the foot of the bed on my knees. My entire left side is covered in bruises and scrapes. As for the third one, I don't remember the dream itself, just that I was back on my knees at the foot of the bed; my husband turned on the light and I found my hand over my eye. When I moved it, I started bleeding.
Sarah Ross21 said:I had no idea that was even a thing. Sounds pretty exciting 🙂

Oh, it’s thrilling 🙂! A little less thrilling for the people trying to sleep next to me, though!
Hey there,
I think I might have actually found the right term for what’s happening to me.
Basically, I’ve always been a restless sleeper, but lately, my dreams are getting way too vivid—like, they're bleeding into reality. I'll be fast asleep with my eyes wide open, talking in my sleep or tossing and turning like crazy
... It wouldn't be such a huge deal if I hadn't already seriously injured myself twice while dreaming. The first time, I smashed my browbone and ended up needing stitches; the second time, I actually broke my humerus. Last night was another "show," and luckily I walked away okay, though I'm currently covered in bruises on my left side and some scrapes. So, does anyone know what I can do about this? Is there any actual help out there? Has anyone else dealt with this nightmare?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a pediatric ophthalmologist in Washington, D.C. specifically for kids dealing with styes or chalazions. It would be amazing if anyone could share their firsthand experience—who's actually worth seeing? Thanks in advance!

Old question, but hey, maybe someone else needs this later.
Try Vinogradski, either Dr. Bačani or Škunca!
We ended up at the emergency eye clinic at Vinogradski first. They gave us some drops and ointment, then sent us over to the pediatric clinic. The wait wasn't bad and they were fine. Usually, they just monitor things and stick with the ointments and drops since it tends to clear up on its own in kids (it did for our little girl). If it doesn't go away, they just do a minor outpatient procedure once the kid is a bit older.
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
My entire business is basically conducted on my feet.
So, I gave the Advisory service of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce a call, and the lady there tells me that not every small business needs a medical clearance, but...
She then asks if I might, you know, climb onto a stool every once in a while to reach something on a high shelf.
I just tell her, "I don't know... maybe..."
And she goes: "Well, that counts as working at heights, so you definitely need a doctor's note."

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Funny enough, the same clerk tried to convince me a few months ago that I couldn't use my home address as my business headquarters and that starting a small business without a commercial lease was impossible. Thank God she finally changed her mind.
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Let me clarify.
So... I stopped by the Department of Commerce to ask if every single small business really needs a medical certificate to get started, and the woman there told me that for absolutely every sole proprietorship that certificate is mandatory. I mean, that sounds totally nonsensical to me, so I’m wondering if anyone knows if there's actually a specific list of businesses that require one?
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
The clerk told me this is mandatory for every single small business, then handed me a checklist where a medical certificate is listed right at number one.
Honestly, it feels like a total shakedown.
I can easily just get a note from my own doctor saying I'm healthy—why on earth would I have to pay for an occupational health exam for this?
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
I’ve been digging through data online about starting a small business, and I keep seeing these numbers popping up: 200 +250 + 20.
That’s just what it costs to get the paperwork moving.
What I don't get is why hardly anyone mentions the medical certification requirement.
The folks at my local filing office told me straight up that you can't open any kind of sole proprietorship without one.
Just a heads-up, there's an extra fee for $125.

I’ve been thinking about how we approach these discussions lately, and I can't help but feel like we're all just circling the same drain, hoping for a different result. It’s funny, really. We come here with these intense, deeply held convictions, ready to tear into a topic with everything we've got, only to realize an hour later that we haven't actually moved the needle on anything... There's this specific kind of exhaustion that sets in when you realize the conversation isn't about finding common ground, but rather about who can shout their particular version of the truth the loudest. It’s become a bit of a ritual, hasn't it? We set the stage, we pick our sides, and we wait for the inevitable clash, almost as if the friction itself is the goal rather than the insight... Anyway, I suppose I'm just observing from the sidelines today. It feels like everyone is so busy sharpening their arguments that they've forgotten why we even started talking in the first place... kaže:
I need help, fast...
Just to get things out in the open right away, I’m a woman, so please bear with me here. I don't exactly know my way around the world of combat sports, so I’m going to try my best to explain what I’m looking for...
My dear used to train in something like Ultimate Fight—if that’s even a real thing—or maybe K1, if those exist... and now he’s constantly complaining about how he’s going to buy a heavy bag and get back into training, but he's just too busy with work and can't seem to actually make a move. And now...
His birthday is coming up soon, and I’ve been thinking about getting him that specific bag he’s been eyeing. The thing is, I’m stuck on which one to actually pick, and honestly, I have no clue where to find a decent selection around here—maybe somewhere in the suburbs or even down in the city...
I could use some help...🙏

If you’re looking to upgrade your gear, you might want to check out http://www.profightstore.com/. It’s one of those sites that actually seems to know what they're talking about when it comes to combat sports equipment... useful if you're tired of the cheap stuff that falls apart after a month at the gym. Definitely worth a look if you need something reliable...

I took a look at that link you sent over—the Pride website. It’s interesting to see how they lay things out, though I suppose if you're looking for deep dives into the history or specific upcoming events in the States, this isn't exactly the place to find them. It’s mostly just the landing page for their community initiatives and advocacy work. It reminds me a bit of some of the larger non-profit hubs we have here in the US, like the Human Rights Campaign or those local community centers you see in cities like Chicago or San Francisco. They all serve that same fundamental purpose of providing a space for visibility and organizing, even if the cultural context feels worlds apart...
They have a shop located over at 95 Maximillian Drive in Chicago...

If you’re hanging out near the edge of town toward the outskirts, maybe heading toward that old stretch of Highway 12, I can't quite recall what they've renamed that specific street lately. Just give me the name once you get there, and I'll clear up the confusion for you... anyway, I really hope you're driving, because navigating those backroads without a car is a bit of a headache...

Thanks so much.
Just one more thing.
I see all these different types and sizes of bags online, so I was wondering which size would actually be best for what he used to do (like early UFC or K1 style stuff)?

Emergency help needed here.
First off, I’m a woman, so please bear with me—combat sports aren't exactly my thing, so I’ll try my best to explain what I’m looking for.
My partner used to train in something like MMA or K1 (do those even exist?) and now he’s dying to get back into it. He won't stop complaining about how he needs to buy a heavy bag and start training again, but he's so slammed with work that he can't seem to pull the trigger. So...
His birthday is coming up soon, and I thought I’d surprise him by actually buying that bag he wants. Only problem is, I have no clue which kind to get or where I could even find one around the Midwest or maybe Chicago?
Please help.🙏

Please help me out here!!!
It’s an absolute emergency!!!
I have a court date on the 18th—can I just submit a written defense, or am I forced to show up in person?
If anyone has any advice, I’d be incredibly grateful; it feels like the $1000 fines are totally overkill.
All this is just over my ID; I wasn't even doing anything wrong, just taking a walk!
Any tips at all would be amazing!

I’m not entirely sure if this is the right place to vent, but I’m desperate for some advice. Back in February 2007, I got pulled over by the cops. I had my ID on me, but unfortunately, it was expired. Pretty soon after, I got slapped with a $1000 that I honestly can't afford. I’ve been procrastinating on filing an objection for ages, but now they’re actually calling me into the District Court and I’m freaking out. Does anyone know when the statute of limitations kicks in for this kind of thing? Or better yet, does anyone have tips on how to dodge paying such a ridiculous fine?
