Lease agreements: Tips, questions, and experiences in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Nicole Morales3 said:What exactly constitutes an operating lease? Is this just standard leasing, or is it some term tweaked for local nuances—something Spajic looked down upon while interpreting accounting standards, insisting we don't have any unique specifics here?

Why even specify "operating" lease? Why not just call it leasing?

There are two main types: finance leases and operating leases.

The fundamental distinction is that with a finance lease, you eventually own the asset (like a car) once the final payment is made. With an operating lease, you don't; instead, you have the option to buy it out at a favorable rate or simply trade it in for something new.

Watched it last night..

...I have to say, I expected more from Brian Helgeland. This is the guy who wrote the scripts for Mystic River and L.A. Confidential, yet he writes and directs this..

The movie isn't actually terrible; it’s decent enough for some late-night TV viewing...
It bears a slight resemblance to Stigma, though it's inferior

The plot is weak and lacks logic. We're supposed to believe in The Sin Eater—a man who has lived for centuries and redeems sinners by taking their sins upon himself. Apparently, he's grown bored with the job and decided to find a successor... which leads to conspiracies, potential dark popes, and all that nonsense.

Visually, it isn't bad. It's a bit cliché, but fine. What sinks the film is the story...

So much of it just doesn't hold up. For starters, why would The Sin Eater even be motivated to find a successor? There's zero explanation provided..

The only bright spot is Shannyn Sossamon (who was in the Law of Attraction)...

To movie didn't really do much for me.

I was expecting a proper horror flick (though, honestly, what was I thinking expecting that from H. Berry? 😵), but instead, I got a mediocre thriller with some supernatural bits thrown in...
It felt more like a made-for-TV movie than something meant for the big screen...

There’s zero atmosphere, and the plot feels inconsistent at times...
It’s the kind of film you forget almost immediately...

The only redeeming quality of this movie is Baby (who I hear is actually Rob Zombie's girlfriend)...
...everything else was a total waste of time. Just another derivative flick trying too hard to ride the coattails of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

It’s interesting how the movie treats the Gospel of Tom as if it were some brand-new revelation.
The Gospel of Tom was actually unearthed in Nag Hammadi back in 1947. It isn't even written in Aramaic; it's in Coptic, dating back to roughly 200 AD.
The content aligns perfectly with Gnostic teachings. It’s well-documented that the Church condemned the Gnostics, the Bogomils, the Manichaeans, and anyone else who dared to center faith around the individual rather than the institutional Church.

Beyond that, certain passages were stripped from the New Testament later on—likely during the same era—for those same exact reasons.

Sorry for the off-topic post.
