On another note, what kind of earplugs do you guys usually pick up? At my local CVS, they only carry these single pairs of yellow, foam ones $1.75. I was wondering if there’s anything more budget-friendly out there? Or maybe just something sold in a larger pack, so I don't have to keep buying these individual sets for $1.75. 😁
Those five-cent ones are great. I've been using them for years. They're the only way I can sleep since my husband sounds like he's running a chainsaw all night. 😳 I don't know how long you usually use them, but mine last me about three weeks to a month. I'm not sure if there are any larger packs available for a better price.
Honestly, I'm getting pretty fed up with this H&M sleep mask. As soon as I pay, I'm heading straight to Cosmo. Or maybe downtown to Walmart if they have them there. 😕 To be fair, this mask was a total lifesaver just a few weeks ago. I was on a business trip staying at this hotel that didn't have any heavy blackout curtains—just those flimsy thin ones. Around 5 AM, the sun started beaming right through. 😲 So, I threw the mask on and went right back to sleep like a baby. 😉
That’s exactly my point, 🙏 look, country artists have their niche, but I’m not convinced there's enough demand to sell out massive arenas. Seka Aleksić can pack Best Buy, and Pitbull can fill up a Lampaš, but they definitely can't handle larger venues—at least not as headliners. Who knows, maybe they'll pull it off through sheer luck.
I disagree, banderas, kids actually listen to this stuff. Go visit any local elementary school and run a poll asking if they’ve ever heard of Arsen Dedić or Pitbull, then get back to me. 😉
But I honestly doubt the turnout will match what the organizers are hoping for (or what Mariyan Crnarić claims in the papers, 😲 if you can believe him).

I was reading through that Latin piece... Man... I honestly think that Latin writer latched onto one extreme example that isn't even remotely representative...
I wouldn't go that far. Men are physically stronger, so they tend to be more violent—it's just easier to hit someone weaker, right? And I also think that woman from the Latin article, who was fighting in bars, drinking, and then defending her husband, isn't exactly a great example. But it still fits—domestic homicides can happen for all sorts of reasons. It doesn't always boil down to hate or jealousy.
Kyle Nelson2 said:why should we categorize violence by gender?
Because in 90 percent of cases, men are the aggressors, not women.
By the way, did anyone catch USA Today yesterday? They had a segment on domestic homicides. 😲 It was about some woman who murdered her husband after only three months of marriage. 😱 Some Hollywood director could easily sweep the Oscars if they turned that story into a movie.
Is that how it works? I was under the impression we had an agreement on this... I know people who make those kinds of arrangements with friends working at The New York Times... 🙂
Sending my greetings too! I assume Jesse Sanchez60 won't be popping up on Reddit all that often for a while 😬 he'll be busy dedicating his free time to the baby and sleeping, sleeping, sleeping... 😉
I’m sticking to my guns: that venue was the wrong call. Even Matt agreed with me. Nothing about that space felt intimate or personal, which is exactly what used to define the atmosphere at The Roxy. The Roxy is special—small, private, and you actually feel a connection with the crowd. That’s precisely why so many bands love playing there. As for the show? It was GREAT. One minute it was chill, the next it was high energy (👍 ) The band gave it everything they had, as per usual. Fisher... well, maybe he dropped five pounds, but he needs to lose another fifteen to really look the part.
Bottom line: if it wasn't for Matt, none of this would have happened, so props to him. 🙏Kudos to him for bringing them in; it was awesome to see them play. My dissatisfaction with the venue is on me. 🤔Maybe I'm overreacting. Honestly, as long as we have Matt booking top-tier talent, I don't care where they play. 🙂 🙂 🙂

That’s exactly what I said, and I’ll say it again: anything worth playing eventually hits Washington, D.C. The Pixies are no exception. The point is that everyone ends up in D.C. anyway. We aren't any less relevant than Vienna; if anything, we have the upper hand now because the market is bigger, making it much easier to pull a massive crowd.
Brian Foster2 said:Why does Vienna always have a massive lineup of high-quality acts where shows are constantly sold out... while the exact same concert there pulls 150-$83 here, but in Washington, D.C., we're looking at 350-400 people?!?
rapidviper54 hit the nail on the head... 😛 In recent memory, I can't recall a single band or artist playing in Vienna that I actually wanted to see. A long time ago, you had Nirvana or Cave hitting those stages—back when you were probably still in diapers. Not anymore. The acts worth seeing eventually made their way to Washington, D.C. sooner or later. Same goes for the Pixies.
Daniel Bailey7 said:Nobody hates them. It's just way too much money for such little music...
If you actually want to go to a show, you'll find the cash. I've never regretted spending money to hear a band I love. It is what it is. Some people blow their paycheck on steroids, some on gold chains, others on designer shoes. I spend mine on concerts.
Scorsese's documentary on Bob Dylan, "No Direction Home". The documentary "Dig" 🙏 about the Dandy Warhols and Brian Jonestown Massacre bends—actually decent even for people who don't know the first thing about that genre. That documentary on the Ramones. 24 Hour Party People (the feature film).... I could go on until tomorrow 😎
I don't know what you picked, but I'm voting for The 2nd Americana listening room
4. Matt vs Banderas listening room Number 3 isn't even bad.
And let me know when this happens... so I can clear my schedule 😁 It feels like forever since I've been to KSET; things just haven't felt the same since Matt disappeared.
