So I’ve been digging through these reviews and doing some side-by-side comparisons. Honestly, it looks like that Radeon HD 6850 isn't even that much better than the GTX 460 1GB; in some games, the 768MB version actually comes out on top. Then again, in other titles, they both end up pulling the same numbers. At the end of the day, we're talking a difference of just a few FPS, which isn't exactly a game-changer.
The 6870 is a different story—it's significantly better. Since it's priced similarly to the GTX 460 1GB (at least it was a couple of weeks ago), it definitely justifies its performance for the money. Still, the GTX 470 manages to beat it in certain games, though $133 it’s also roughly more expensive.

Everything really just boils down to how these prices settle. Man, what a headache trying to shop right now, especially when I'm this impatient. 😁 I totally rushed into this 😁 .

Hey, thanks so much for the breakdown. Everything makes way more sense now. I don't think I'm going to drop a ton of cash on this one, since I'm pretty sure I won't need to deal with this headache again anytime soon. At the end of the day, the warranty is the real deciding factor for me—luckily, the one I have right now just bit the dust, and it also had a two-year coverage period. Thanks again 🙂

I’ll have to figure out some kind of workaround, though since I’m not based in NYC, pulling it off is going to be a bit of a headache. We’ll just have to wait a few days and see how the admins set the pricing. Honestly, grabbing a pre-built rig might be the easiest move. Yeah... I definitely didn't see this price drop coming. Now I'm stuck wondering which brand to go with—ASUS, Intel, or even something else—since everything has tanked so much that the gap between them isn't even that huge anymore.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m looking at building a whole new rig from scratch, so I’m weighing whether jumping to an $67 is actually worth the massive price hike if the performance boost isn't even that noticeable. I have my doubts, but hey, maybe I'll be surprised.
Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a heads-up: there's a GeForce GTX 460 with 1024MB on sale right now at $449, and honestly, it looks like a steal. If I can find something similar at Best Buy, I might finally pull the trigger and get this setup finished. 😁

So, we're looking at a 900MHz GPU paired with 4200MHz memory, all sitting at the exact same price point as a GTX 460. I’m dying to see if this thing actually performs better, because right now, the value is hovering somewhere around 🙂

Haha, let me throw this out here instead of starting a whole new thread. Does anyone actually have a clue when the 6xxx series graphics cards are dropping, or is it all just guesswork?
Everywhere I look online, the rumors are all over the place. One site says New Year's, another claims they're hitting shelves this October, and then there's some other random date entirely. Can someone who actually knows what they're talking about weigh in?
Thanks a ton, and sorry if I missed a previous answer to this somewhere. 🙂
