Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
ironwolf52 said:Not sure if this is the right sub for this, but hopefully it is. 🙂
I'm looking for someone who does medical pedicures in New York City.
I almost booked a regular nail tech, but I changed my mind after hearing how amateurs can actually make things worse. It's an ingrown nail and the pain is unreal—I can't even wear normal shoes anymore. I'm stuck walking around in baggy sneakers just to cope! 😢
So please, if anyone knows a spot, let me know. I haven't had any luck finding one yet. 😢

Check out over in Brooklyn. I haven't personally been there, but I've heard they specialize specifically in medical foot care.

I’m seeing my doctor in NYC. She’s incredible—honestly, the gold standard for me. Calm, thorough, and she actually takes the time to explain everything you need to know. No rushing.
Some people I know have been complaining about her nurse, but personally, I’ve never had a single issue with her. Honestly, she’s actually really sweet—she’s gone out of her way to help me out more than once without me even asking.

Jonathan Fowler6 said:I’ve seen him a few times myself. He’s great, honestly—just be prepared to pay a bit more for the meds.
Finding someone like him covered by Medicare is basically impossible.

Do you happen to know any open-minded GPs who take Medicare?

THANKS🙂

Unfortunately, I don't know. I don't have any experience with homeopathy myself. Dr. Alexander Soltyšik is right here in my neighborhood, so I just happened to hear people talking about him.

Or who else should I ask? THANKS

Aleksandar Soltyšik

Field: General Practice
Address:
Mayo Clinic
Washington, D.C.

Tel: 555-0199

Never been there myself. Just heard about him through the grapevine—supposedly he's good and does homeopathy.

Kimberly Roberts95 said:I need some help picking a gynecologist. I've been seeing a private doctor since my very first visit, but now that I need more extensive testing, the out-of-pocket costs are getting ridiculous. I need to choose someone covered by insurance. Can anyone suggest where I should go? Ideally somewhere in a major city center—honestly, it doesn't matter much, as long as it isn't somewhere like Philadelphia or anything.🙂
And what's the actual procedure? Do I just show up and sign up, or...?

Dr. Franulović is excellent. He's with the Community Health Center, and his office is right on Broadway. Responsible, kind, gentle—really a wonderful person. Only thing is, I'm not sure if he's still taking new patients; I know his schedule is always packed. 🤷

They take Medicare.

Yeah, I know her too. Never actually sat in her chair myself, but trust me, everyone raves about her.

My head is covered in breakouts. It’s itchy and it hurts. If anyone has dealt with this and found a dermatologist who actually fixed it... please, help.

Look, if you're in Brooklyn, go see Dr. Stanimirović. I'm pretty sure he's one of the top dermatologists in the city. You can't go wrong.
The address is Badalićev 36. I found his number on Google: 01/ 3820 077.
Hopefully, it's not an old number.

Chloe Fisher5 said:Looking for recommendations for a GP, a dentist, and a gynecologist in Washington, D.C., specifically around the Downtown area, because I'm moving there.

Thanks for any info. 🙂

Alright, here goes.
I can't recommend Dr. Vlast Nemet-Krznarić enough. She’s a GP over at the Central Health Center on Runjanin Street (right near Mihanovićev). Unlike some doctors who play games where you call them up just to demand specific meds whenever you feel like it, she actually does things by the book. She’ll tell you to come in for an exam so she can assess the situation herself. She’s thorough, kind, and calm—always takes the time to answer questions and explain things clearly. Honestly, I actually prefer that you have to book an appointment a few days in advance (unless it’s an emergency); it means when you show up, you aren't stuck waiting more than 15 minutes.
Also, there's a fantastic dentist right there on Runjanin Street, Dr. Kristina Iveta - Rajčić.

🤣🤣🤣🤣 Same here! I was being so careful, just hovering my mouse over the thread title just to see what it was about!!!😂
Robin Nelson11 said:My joints are killing me. I started looking into things;
specialist findings:
- dentist: all permanent teeth are healthy
- ENT: tonsillitis, surgery recommended
- EMG 🙏carpal tunnel syndrome left side
- Spine X-ray: initial changes (spondylosis)
- Upper thoracic aperture scan: no cervical rib
- Hand and wrist X-rays: normal, signs of RA?
- All blood, urine, and swab tests (not listing them individually): normal
Diagnosis: tonsillitis requiring surgery
Treatment: Eztencilin (if I read that right) 2,400,000 units over at least three years
Re-check blood work and follow-up in six months.

Now, what I want to know is why this penicillin therapy lasts such a long time, and how it’s actually administered (IV, pills?).
The second thing is, since my finger joints have already started deforming, should I be asking about RA?
My doctor isn't exactly great at communicating, so I'll definitely seek out another
opinion, but I wanted to hear your thoughts and medical recommendations first.

Seriously? Did you even bother to look anything up online before coming here?! It's all explained in detail everywhere! It's not called Eztencilin, it's Extencillin... Just type it into Google and you'll have enough material to read about all day!

Kimberly Nguyen said:The whole thing comes down to paying right there on the scene or... I mean, what happens if the bill ends up being higher than expected or you just don't have the funds on hand? Personally, I almost never carry cash around with me.

Look, we didn't have any money on us either (we were coming straight from the beach, obviously!😁). Once we hit New York City, we grabbed coffee with the driver—he was actually a pretty nice guy—and then I just hit an ATM to grab some small bills.

All I know is the guy showed up in that Mercedes Vito, and we cruised into New York City like royalty. But when a friend of mine dealt with the exact same thing and Haka had to pick them up, he and his girlfriend were practically squeezed onto the passenger seat of that little truck, barely fitting all their gear...

Does the bank just reimburse the costs or what?

No. Our engine died on the interstate just fifteen minutes after we left Seattle heading toward Washington, D.C. We called their number, and the guy goes through all the questions about the vehicle—asks if you think it can be fixed right there or if you need a tow. We needed a tow and ended up waiting about an hour. The driver came out from Seattle, loaded our engine onto the trailer, and hauled us all the way to Washington, D.C. Since we had coverage for about $200 in towing (don't quote me on that, I don't remember the exact amount), it would have covered that distance perfectly on a weekday and cost us nothing. But this was a Sunday, so there’s a 30% surcharge. We had to hand the driver an extra $233 on the spot, and that was that.
It seriously saved our necks!

Richard Wright said:I have no idea what you people are talking about. The service I’ve been paying for $6.75 (Optimum All-in-One) now costs barely anything more $18 at a Chase fan!?!!?

Everything stays the same, except for those 15 free transactions (a savings of 7-$$3.25) via online banking.

Fact one: moving business online REDUCES the number of jobs a bank actually needs, yet they have the audacity to pitch it to us as a paid premium service.

Fact two: the website www.chase.com is embarrassingly bad, neglected, and ancient—we're talking a design that hasn't seen an update since the early 2000s.

Fact three: following on from fact two—there isn't even any information regarding the Fan on their site. It's a total disaster!!
(At least it wasn't there yesterday, so if anyone is reading this later, maybe it'll finally show up 👎 )

Their whole scheme is to trick everyone into grabbing this mid-tier fan for $20, because it feels like just $1.75 more. And yeah, it is absolutely shameful that their website doesn't even mention these fan tiers. Truly!!!!👎

If you're using a dynamic one, you won't be hit with ECMC or Go fees—it's basically a wash. 😉

Thanks! I hit up the bank yesterday and set up a dynamic fan account—now both of my cards are feeding right into it! 😁

Kimberly Nguyen said:Chase Bank - fees

Alright, here’s the breakdown...
Checking account - annual fee$6.75
Savings account - annual fee$12
EC Master Card - $100 enrollment plus a $150 annual membership fee

And seriously, why on earth don't you just use their online banking app already?!?

But look, if you go with the premium package... sorry, I mean the "Chase Bank" perks...😁 they throw in home assistance, roadside emergency services, and travel insurance... though let's be honest, how many people actually bother to use any of that stuff?👍 ...

We actually used Chase's roadside assistance this summer and it was a lifesaver. They handled everything fast and professionally. But looking at these premium bundles now, the costs are even higher than what I was paying before! 👍

I'm also taking out a loan in a few months, and since this premium tier offers a discount on loan origination fees, I've decided the whole package is worth it. One thing I'm stuck on, though—this card stuff you mentioned. I have a standard Mastercard and a Gold card. Which procedure applies to which? The Chase brochure says you get one basic deferred payment card and one basic credit card without an enrollment fee. So my Mastercard is covered, but where does the Gold card fit in?🤷

Rachel Torres said:Look, we aren't here to bicker. We're here to trade info and help each other out, haha.🙂 Katie, let us know once those test results come back...

Fair point! 😁 Just gotta be careful that we don't end up doing more harm than good chatting online... I mean, circulation is serious business. If someone's struggling with that, it’s nothing to joke about. Katie, I'm crossing my fingers that it turns out to be some minor thing that clears right up!!! 😉

Carl Thompson6, didn't you end up seeing a doctor? Is yours still swollen?

Go educate yourself. Seriously. Anyone dealing with vein issues or poor circulation taking one Android (or even a better quality aspirin) a day is actually doing themselves a favor.

If Android is so damn harmless like you all claim, then why aren't we handing out bottles of it alongside Yasmin? If it’s so safe, why bother risking anyone getting a blood clot at all🙄! You can't just pop any medication on your own for "prevention" (and how long do you think you'd be taking it? For years? Do you have any idea what that does to your stomach??!?!😲)

Rachel Torres said:Taking Android is good for preventing thrombosis because it thins the blood... Katie, did you actually get your leg examined by a doctor?

Look, sure, but you can't just go popping Android when you're barely in your twenties just because you're on birth control. You'll end up doing way more harm than good!

Linda Hill27 said:Same here. I saw my doctor, everything else seems fine. Just had bloodwork done today—the whole nine yards—so we'll see. My leg is hurting a bit... less now, but it feels like a circulation issue to me.
p.s. I've been on birth control for a while, almost a year and a half. Could there be a connection?

Look, I don't want to be an alarmist, but birth control can cause thrombosis (basically a blood clot, usually in the leg), and that can be incredibly dangerous!
For instance, I (a total worrier 😳) immediately jump to the worst-case scenario whenever my leg starts feeling weird!!! But that's just me, I don't want to scare you! Anyway, all of this is listed right there in the warning label on your pill pack!
