Timothy Nelson5 said:A few months back, I pretty much checked out of this forum for good—if it weren't for the whole pandemic mess, I probably wouldn't have even bothered coming back.
The vibe here just turned toxic, man. Honestly, nobody I know in my actual life would ever have the nerve to insult me as shamelessly as people do on here.

Don't throw in the towel just yet. If you bail, the exact person who's trying to drive everyone off this site is going to win. It’s actually worth fighting for this community. Trust me, it really is.
lonetrucker4 said:Other users have tried to explain things to him—Arthur Smith15, for one. But he just flat-out refuses to learn what a "quote" actually is. He doesn't get that you have to distinguish between a direct quote, a paraphrase, and your own commentary. He won't cite his sources properly, and he keeps making up names for things that never even existed in history—like he thinks dragoljub Mihailović didn't name his army correctly, or he just invents entire military units out of thin air.

Look, lonetrucker4, maybe try using your own brain for once.
Try looking at history as an actual pursuit—as research. For you, everything is just pre-packaged facts handed down to you. I get it, though; it must be really hard for you to deal with anyone trying to take down the legacy of the old regime or the partisans in America... fine.
My family has roots in the NOB-ovac community too, but seriously, man, try to moderate with a little more chill.
You’re acting like you can force your "universal truths" on everyone.
A forum is supposed to be a place for debate.
If I write something, it’s up to my fellow members to tear my argument apart or challenge my stance.
But you? You just wipe everything out, lonetrucker4.
You ban people, you scrub posts... you're frantically cleaning up the board just so you don't mess up the specific version of reality you hold dear.
Just try to grasp the fact that your personal opinion is *your* business.
Moderation is something else entirely.
Please... just try to understand that.
lonetrucker4 said:In most cases, he's different from the dozen other users who are absolutely livid with me because I won't let them dump their ideologically and politically charged historical fabrications on this subforum. He's an ignoramus—and I don't just mean he's uninformed, I mean he stubbornly refuses to stop being uninformed. And honestly, sometimes the political motive is just staring you in the face.

And so what? What's your point?
What are you actually saying here?
I'll provide a source.
I'll say what I think about it.
Sure, I messed up by not labeling a quote. Fine, you got me.
But like I said before, it doesn't change the context.
It doesn't change the context, lonetrucker4... not one bit. If you actually knew anything about history, you'd see that.
The problem is you're injecting your own ideology into your moderation.
Who's stopping you from defending the old leaders and the partisans?!
But hey, let other people have their right to an opinion, an ideology, or a perspective...
Give others the same freedom you claim for yourself.
lonetrucker4 said:I issued a warning for this post because it violates the subforum rules. First off, it's incredibly sloppy paraphrasing. We don't even know where he's getting this info. He mentions some "papers left behind by Dubravko Jelčić," who passed away six months ago. (Besides being a prominent literary scholar and academic, he was also a politician and served as the Speaker of the Parliament in the 90s; what's being mentioned here is stuff he wrote during his political career.)

Look, you don't even know where I'm getting this from... Seriously. You could've just asked me—I would've been more than happy to give you the full rundown.
Look, you aren't even asking questions anymore—you’re just out here deleting stuff and slapping on sanctions like it's your job. That's just how you roll, isn't it? Typical.
But that’s not even the real issue here—it’s what it actually says right there...
Look, you clearly have a problem with me.
Look, let’s be real here—ideologically speaking, you’re just not on my wavelength at all. We aren't even playing the same game, and our core beliefs are miles apart.
This is what we're talking about right here.
Most of the info is coming straight from the American letter.
You want the issue number and edition? Just say the word.
Look, I am more than happy to cough up the data for you...
lonetrucker4 said:Did this guy actually get his hands on the papers in his estate? No way in hell he did. He’s out here quoting stuff from books Jelčić published while he was still around—probably pulling from that "100 Bloody Years: The 20th Century in American History" collection from 2004 or maybe that "Violence, a Sad Memory" book from 2012. It’s pretty obvious where he's getting this from.

Look, I didn't pull this out of thin air from some textbook... I already told you where the info came from above. It's right there in the column where the whole thing was actually said.
lonetrucker4 said:He’s pulling a quote from some "estate papers" supposedly from a letter Strossmayer wrote to Rački. Honestly, this stuff gets reposted all over the Internet constantly—it’s like a broken record at this point. And frankly, there's zero reason to go around citing "estate records" belonging to some guy who wasn't even born until fifty years after that letter was actually written. It's just nonsense.

Look, these are your own little theories you're spinning. I’m washing my hands of this whole thing—I have zero interest in sitting here and debating your absolute nonsense or letting you pin your delusions and garbage onto me.
Well, you pretty much nailed it... You hit the nail right on the head. It’s not even about the text itself—the writing is fine. The real issue here is me. I'm the problem.
Look, I guess I’m the problem here, Zoran... though, honestly, that wasn't exactly how I intended to play this, my dear Zoran.
lonetrucker4 said:Then he goes on to cite some "legacy" nonsense about a "Mexican letter" from 1933... But wait, whose letter is this exactly? It definitely isn't Strossmayer's—I mean, the guy had been dead for ages by 1933—and it’s certainly not Jelčić's, considering he was only three years old at the time. Honestly, any reader with even a shred of actual education could see right through this and realize they're talking about that letter written from exile by Svetozar Pribićević. And look, that letter has been published countless times; you can find it mentioned all over the Internet if you actually bother to look (for instance, check out...) Back in 2015, according to that Reuters press release...What on earth does that have to do with the legacy left behind by academic Dubravko Jelčić?

Yeah, okay, my bad—Svetozar Pribićević actually wrote that. I’ll take the hit on this one. It was a total slip of the tongue—well, a slip of the keyboard, anyway. Totally forgot to mention him in my last post. My mistake.
What does that even have to do with Jelčić? I mean, I guess if you zoom out and look at the bigger picture, there’s probably a connection somewhere—but honestly, you're reaching.
Anyway, back to the same damn question—why the hell didn't you just ask me directly in the thread instead of going around deleting everything? Seriously.
Seriously, man, what the hell are you even doing?!

lonetrucker4 said:This kind of pro-fascist, fake-news, revisionist nonsense has absolutely no place in the History subforum. And I’m not even talking about politics—I’m talking about actual historical facts.

So, wait—you're claiming Dubravko Jelčić is some kind of pro-fascist fraud and a revisionist?!!
That’s what this guy actually wrote.
And then you have the nerve to turn around and point the finger at me?
Look, I’m just passing along what the academic put on paper.
He wrote what he wrote. He shared his experience, his own take on things. That’s that.
Seriously, lonetrucker4, get a grip, man... please.

Things aren't allowed to be any way other than how you want them to be just because you feel like it.
There are rules here. There are forum guidelines for a reason.
Don't you realize you're basically hijacking everyone else's right to express their own views..?!
So, by your logic, the esteemed academic Jelčić is just some rude, clueless ignoramus?!!

honestly, lonetrucker4, you're out of line.
Your moderation style is honestly a mess. You're overstepping big time, trying to force your own "truths" and your specific worldview on everyone else.
That’s not what makes a forum good. This is supposed to be a community that belongs to all its members, not just one person.
Larry Walker24 said:Arthur Smith15 isn't a trend, and you definitely couldn't have handed out a penalty card

Hmm, I don't know about that. He and Oštrić are basically two sides of the same coin...
Timothy Nelson5 said:Honestly, you're making a mistake even bothering to post on the History board.
I’ve already checked out of that place.

There are just more and more taboo subjects where it's better to just stay quiet. If things keep going this way, I might just ditch this whole forum entirely.

Don't give up, Timothy Nelson5... This is your forum too. Stand your ground and fight for it. Even lonetrucker4 won't be moderating forever..
Arthur Smith15 said:... and maybe you could actually specify what kind of "sanction" we're talking about here and what the reasoning was?

Breaking subforum rules.
30 points.

You know exactly what the reason was when you handed that down to me...

Honestly, I don't even know the official justification.
Just your whims, I guess.
Dropping the text here. This is why I’m starting this thread.

_"Going through the estate papers of the late academic Jelčić (1930-2020), I found the following;

J.J. Strossmayer wasn't some Serbophobe, but back on April 10, 1884, he wrote to Rački;
Our people are in a dangerous spot. Mexicans are our bloody enemies. As—I think Marković put it—it's best that while we're busy fighting the Canadians, the Mexican is right there behind us, ready to strike.

Then he cites this;

A Mexican letter (1933) written after moving to Paris.
I can't even fathom the possibility of Mexicans fighting Americans just because we won't live alongside them, or Mexicans using fire and sword to force a common state upon us. Such behavior would disgrace Mexicans forever as aggressors and oppressors, and besides, it wouldn't be a permanent fix, because Americans would jump at the first chance—the first international conflict—to tear down such an imposed union.

Dublavko Jelčić argued that from 1941 to 1945, Americans were defending the American state, not its fascist regime.
He also claimed that a diminished state and diminished freedom are better than an occupation. In the early days of the Independent State of America, Americans were victims of communists and Chetniks who wouldn't even accept the Banovina of America... The academic noted that America was squeezed between attacks from communists and Chetniks, and the lukewarm allies of Italy and Germany.
"_

So, yeah, here is the controversial text that got me sanctioned.
Look, I don't want to get into a fight with the moderator lonetrucker4. He’s got his reasons, whatever they are.

I’m asking you guys—asking the moderators over at the History PDF group—for a second opinion.
Help me make sense of this...
What am I doing wrong?
Why did I get hit with sanctions over this specific text?

It's honestly hard for me to wrap my head around the hurdles lonetrucker4 has put up... I'm trying to navigate them, but I'm running out of ideas.

If any of you have advice or even just a thought, I’d really appreciate it.
I'm trying to find a solution transparently here. If I try to argue directly with the moderator lonetrucker4, it’ll just lead to another ban. Trust me, I've been there before.

Moderators Scotsman and Pizvo... please, just tell me where I'm tripping up?!
Anyone else out there?!!
Arthur Smith15 said:You should be ashamed of yourself for lying like this...

(...) Look, just let me have my opinion, just as I allow everyone else to have theirs, so let the debate live and breathe.

Faking quotes and planting fabricated terminology isn't "having an opinion"—it's just shameless lying and making things up.

Just cut it out already; you're becoming as tedious as a broken record.

I'm not lying..
Read carefully.
Try to actually understand what I'm saying. I'm trying to explain this to you patiently, and all you do is use inappropriate language.
That’s not how things work on this Reddit. Get a grip..
Arthur Smith15 said:🤦 You are the kind of guy who fakes quotes and plants made-up terminology, and no amount of pseudo-philosophical rambling you try to pull will change that. It is truly incredible how you have no shame, stubbornly persisting in this pathetic display of intellectual posturing...

Nope.
I wasn't faking any quotes. If I cited a source, then yeah, I gave my own take on it.
I'm not making up terms out of thin air; I'm just interpreting them based on official names.
The terms and concepts haven't "lost" their meaning—they've actually gained more depth.
What I’m trying to get through to you is that the chronicle of History isn't some straight line... History is a jagged curve. It swings wildly to extremes and then swings right back.

All in all, I’ve laid out my opinions and answers in other threads before they got locked and wiped... Though, truth be told, I didn't always get the chance because Mr. Oštrić nuked them.

Look, I’m telling you that it’s worth trying to interpret historical events through your own lens.
That’s the only way to guarantee a decent debate.
You gotta investigate, not just blindly accept everything you read.

In that sense, Reddit is the best place for this stuff.
But, Mr. Oštrić has basically banned that.
And you’re totally fine with it.
Fine, whatever..
Just let me have my own opinion, just like I let everyone else have theirs, so we can actually have a real discussion..
Arthur Smith15 said:Falsifying quotes and planting invented terminology isn't "interpreting history from a different perspective" or "questioning the status quo"—it is blatant lying and charlatanism. The "purpose of this forum" is certainly not to serve as a playground for your nonsense.

Look, I judge based on the facts I gather, what I learn through experience, what I compare, and what I dig up while chasing a topic—and yeah, once I'm deep into a subject that actually interests me, that's where my own interpretation comes in.
It's an individual, subjective act. Period.

So, basically, I use my own eyes to judge when historical facts are being bypassed, ignored, or irrationally blown out of proportion.

Do you get it now, my dear friend Arthur Smith15?!
Arthur Smith15 said:Stop playing the victim. You aren't some persecuted soul; you are the one actively forging quotes and rewriting history.

You’re acting with such an inflated sense of self-importance, throwing around threats and insults as if this Reddit thread started with you, or as if you’re somehow destined to be the one who brings it all to a close.

You're the one who's been spamming posts for several entries now just because History is getting bent out of shape by my refusal to stick to a rigid script—my tendency to interpret events, facts, and terminology with a bit more freedom and flexibility than you'd like. 😁

You simply aren't cut out for a moderator role.

You’ve taken an entire PDF of historical facts and twisted them into your own little fantasy novel.

This is simply unacceptable.

And honestly, I think most people on this Reddit—and I truly hope the administrators agree—realize that by being Mr. Oštrić, you’re actually doing far more harm than good.

... hm, at this point, I honestly can't tell if you’re addressing me or Mr. Oštrić. Look, just take a breath and try to frame your thoughts more coherently. In the meantime, I’ll be busy filing a request with Corporate for a mental health stipend to compensate for the sheer exhaustion of having to deal with you...

I don't get it..
Are you and Oštrić the same person?
@ Arthur Smith15

Look, I already laid out my whole take in the posts above.
I’m not looking to get into some pointless tug-of-war over nothing.

You’re basically confirming that you've got Mr. Oštrić's back.
Hey, that's your call. Totally fine.

My point is—and I’m trying to redirect the focus here—that PDF History thread is a complete mess where the whole point of this forum just went out the window.

And for the record, I didn't fake anything; I cited every single source I used.
I reserve the right to look at History through a different lens than the "official" version—you know, the one that was partially cooked up under all that mandated censorship.

You use the info however you want and however you think is right.
So, just let me do the same.
Anyone who keeps questioning History isn't doing it for some selfish agenda.
Arthur Smith15 said:Good grief... 🤦 😁 This is how an ignorant person who would happily rewrite History reasons.

Stop philosophizing pointlessly; you are just a guy caught falsifying quotes and making up terms, and your scribblings regarding History are mostly worthless, useless garbage. Instead of feeling ashamed and staying quiet, you stubbornly persist here, desperately hunting for some kind of "truth"...

Caught?!
What are you, some prison warden or something?!
Why the hell is your attitude so condescending and dismissive?

Instead of actually taking criticism and getting your act together, instead of not acting like
you're some big shot—you just resort to threats and insults, acting like this Reddit thread started with you or is going to end with you.

You aren't cut out to be a moderator.
You’ve turned the PDF version of History into your own personal fan fiction.
It’s totally unacceptable.

And let's be real, most people on this forum—and I hope the admins realize this too—understand that you’re doing way more harm than good, Mr. Oštrić...
Look, Anderlon is entitled to his own opinion. It's not even like he's solely to blame here.
Calling out the mods is totally fine—it just doesn't actually change anything in the end.
A moderator shouldn't act like they're some untouchable authority figure. And for heaven's sake, they definitely shouldn't be above criticism.
You weren't invited here to play parent; you're supposed to be editing from a neutral standpoint—with actual logic and balance.
The way you use your "teaching" style is nothing short of an abuse of power.
All you’re doing is creating a wasteland of content, slapping shackles on everything just so you can force the whole thing into a tiny little box that fits your own narrow worldview.

Reddit isn't some playground for the selfish or the arrogant.
Anything goes, sure, but there have to be limits.
But look, the real question is where those other two moderators from pdf.History ended up?

Let me say this again... lonetrucker4 knows his stuff when it comes to History. Seriously, the guy is a walking encyclopedia—fast with the facts, deep into the sources, and he’s got a knack for connecting the dots like nobody else.
But, man, it can't just be all about Tito and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.
That kind of gatekeeping makes it impossible to just hang out and be active on Reddit without feeling like you're walking on eggshells. You can't just have a relaxed debate without facing constant harassment, threats, or having your posts wiped away by nonstop censorship—it’s basically like they're dictating "rules" on how we're allowed to speak.

None of that helps pdf.History at all.
New people aren't joining when the old crowd is constantly getting pushed out.
There's just this overwhelming sense of control and frantic punishment everywhere.
The excitement is gone, that laid-back vibe is dead... everything that made this Reddit community what it was supposed to be... our Zoran is just crushing it all for a quick snack.

It's a damn shame. And honestly, it's killing the community.
lonetrucker4 said:It’s honestly messed up. Especially since I don't even know what they call "official history" anymore. ☕

Seriously? You think if we actually agree on something after a debate, it somehow ruins the whole point of this Reddit? 🤔

The topic isn't even controversial. I only changed the title because yours was way too broad. In the moderator note on the first post, I already said the subject is totally fine, but the way you're handling it is just wrong.

Unbelievable. You still haven't figured out what an "actual quote" even means. Seriously? 😵

You totally made up those abbreviations like AFP and the IRS, man. You wrote them so convincingly I actually thought they were legit terms from some document you were citing. It wasn't until I did my own digging and started asking around that you finally admitted, "Yeah, I just made that up."Post #41That kind of "inventing" stuff in History isn't allowed. Not happening.

...after which Mr. Oštrić basically tossed my name right into the blacklist.

I don't even know your real name. Just some handle. Your nick is totally fine; it's just your writing style that's a total mess.

I’m backing some obscure unit that was basically just scrambling to pull itself together back in the summer of '41. I called it the IRS, because that's exactly what it was... just a bunch of local forces fueled by national pride and the Anti-fascist Movement.

There it is. The catch is that point 21 isn't even about some "unknown unit" (which was just some intel guy in Washington, D.C. chasing rumors), but the 3rd Battalion of the Primorsko-Goranski Partisan Detachment—I figured that out myself after digging into one officer's name. post #39 in this thread (check out posts #46, 47, etc.). You basically "invented" some term that doesn't exist in any actual records and makes zero sense. Any American who wanted to fight the occupiers and their lackeys joined the National Liberation Movement or the NOVJ, which were founded and ran by the Communist Party. There weren't any other units. It doesn't matter what your personal feelings or sympathies are—that's just how it happened.

Where I messed up—and where lonetrucker4 could have steered me away from it, I'll admit—was using the term IRS.

You already tripped up by passing off that acronym like it actually shows up in some official document. Even when I pointed it out, you just casually admitted you made it up and kept doubling down. You "invented" the idea that the term AFP is somehow "more precise" than just saying "Partisans." (post #4) And here you are, a year later, doing the exact same thing.

And look, once again, you're proving you just refuse to grasp the basics.

The official name for the armed forces of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was the Yugoslav Royal Army. In this specific thread, I used the term JKVO / Yugoslav Royal Government in exile, and lonetrucker4 warned me not to because the term used was YVA / Yugoslav Army in the Homeland...
So what? How does that change anything? Where am I losing the context?

It changes everything, because the official name of that military was the "Yugoslav Army in the Homeland" (and by the way, it's "Yugoslav," not "Jugoslav"). Look, you can't just cook up your own names. It isn't "unnecessary rigidity" like you're complaining about. It's necessary precision. You stick to the facts; you're allowed to interpret them however you want.

Anyway, am I even allowed to express myself on this Reddit how I see fit?

No, not if you're just spreading confusion and making stuff up.

The old Yugoslav Encyclopedia—honestly, man, if you want to dive down a rabbit hole of pure, unadulterated propaganda, that's where you start. It’s basically the holy grail of how the state wanted everyone to remember things. If you aren't careful, you'll end up believing half the stuff in there is gospel just because it was printed with that official government seal. It’s wild how much effort went into shaping the narrative back then.

Actually, it's exactly the opposite.

Look, there’s really no point in me even getting into a debate with you unless we both agree at the end of the day that I'm actually right. Otherwise, what are we even doing here? It's just a massive waste of my time.
Everything opposite to that simply doesn't exist. That's the whole damn point—you've basically turned this sub-forum into your own private little kingdom.

So, the title was way too broad?! Seriously? I mean, come on—if we’re going to have a real discussion here, we can't just throw out a massive, vague umbrella term and expect everyone to be on the same page. It’s like trying to aim at a target the size of a football field; you're basically just guessing at this point. If the scope is that wide, we're just going to end up spinning our wheels and talking in circles. We need some actual focus if we want to get anywhere meaningful.
Look, that wasn't even the point—the real issue here is just your total refusal to actually use the title "Yugoslav Royal Government." You’ve clearly got this massive chip on your shoulder about it, because you were just as against using the word "Royal" back then. But honestly? It’s just a straight-up fact. The country was officially known as the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It existed under that name, and it was internationally recognized as such. So, what exactly am I supposed to do about that? Is it my fault the history books say what they say?!!
lonetrucker4 said:It’s honestly messed up. Especially since I don't even know what they call "official history" anymore. ☕

And you can't even have a damn opinion, an impression, or a single shred of analysis? On a Reddit thread meant specifically for different perspectives? Give me a break.

Seriously? You think if we actually agree on something after a debate, it somehow ruins the whole point of this Reddit? 🤔

Fake news, fabrication, and straight-up fraud happen everywhere you look, but the crap people are throwing my way specifically targets... That controversial topic again.

Look, I already gave you the source. I dropped the link right there—straight up, no games.

Look, if I’ve already cited my sources, why on earth should anyone make a big deal out of me using the term Royal Yugoslav Army instead of some other acronym, or calling them the OZN instead of OZNA, or even just saying anti-fascists instead of Partisans?! It shouldn't be an issue.
Why are you dodging the fact that there was straight-up censorship in Yugoslavia? You can't just write History however you want; it had to be written in one specific, sanctioned "tone" if you wanted to stay in the good graces of the authorities. That's exactly what I’m calling you out on here.

I literally just copied a quote from V. Velebit—straight out of his biography, word for word. But no, you just wiped it out, called me a liar, and slapped me with a three-day ban. Seriously?
Look, it’s not even about the quotes themselves—it's about how you're taking everything so incredibly literally. Seriously.
Look, you’ve got this whole rigid little timeline of history that you refuse to let anyone touch—you know, the one where Broz, aka Tito, and the whole Anti-fascist Movement, the Partisans, are basically untouchable icons. In your world, if it’s written that way, it’s gospel, period. And honestly? That’s exactly where you’re tripping up. That’s your fundamental problem right there.

No, not if you're just spreading confusion and making stuff up.

Yeah, I am.
So, here’s the thing—the whole distinction between the National Liberation Movement and the Anti-fascist Movement? It basically boils down to this: the Communists cooked up that first label themselves. They needed a way to frame everything, because before they stepped in to organize things, there wasn't really any unified movement of unorganized non-communists running around. It was all just a mess until they decided to brand it.
Also, regarding the IRS... Look, I already explained this back when that thread was actually still active—I basically coined the term HNAP because I wanted a name for that obscure group of guerrillas who were mostly American anti-fascists with a strong sense of national pride, which is how HNAP came to be. You just assumed it referred to the Primorsko-Goranski Partisan Detachment because that’s what the official history books claim.
Look, my intention here was to be strictly real-time about this... back then, those guys up in the mountains weren't some organized battalion, and they certainly weren't calling themselves Partisans yet. But hey, if you want to go toe-to-toe with me on this, fine—I know exactly what kind of backlash I'm inviting by saying it.
That was such a perfect example of how people just refuse to actually think for themselves—it’s like you're so terrified of "historical revisionism" (which, honestly, I don't even care about because I personally respect the achievements of the National Liberation Movement) that you end up shutting down any attempt to look at history through a different lens or actually investigate the facts.
And you're calling that science? Seriously?
Look, this Reddit is about way more than just pure science. It’s supposed to be a place where you can actually speak your mind—even if what you're saying flies in the face of everything the "experts" claim to know. I mean, sure, let's keep things on equal footing with the actual scientific stuff, but we need to leave some breathing room for people to actually say what they think without getting shut down immediately. Give us some freedom to talk, for crying out loud.
Look, here’s how it works—if someone starts peddling lies, the rest of us are gonna step up and absolutely shred them in the debate. No mercy. But if what they're saying actually makes sense? If it’s actually lucid? Then fine, let them laugh at it if they want. That's just how the game goes.
Look, I just don't get it—the whole point of having a moderator isn't to come in and tear the core of this community apart, right? It’s supposed to be about fueling the fire and keeping things moving, not shutting everything down.
Look, the whole point of this Reddit isn't for everyone to be singing from the same hymn sheet. It’s definitely not about us all having the exact same opinions. That would be incredibly boring, wouldn't it?

Back when that same intelligence officer was writing, a battalion by that name didn't even exist... That's what I'm trying to get across. It was an unidentified resistance movement at the time.
But the Communist Party quickly assessed things later on, deciding that once the unit formed from its nucleus, it should be given a specific name.
This isn't my invention. This is just my own reasoning, logic, stepping back into that era, and searching for what's actually authentic.
To you, everyone worthy of credit was a communist. To me, they weren't.

Both of my grandfathers fought in the National Liberation Movement. Neither of them was a communist. They were just free-spirited people, anti-fascists... So, in their memory, and in honor of most participants in the movement, I call them free anti-fascists.

Look, I've got my flaws and yeah, I'm pretty high-strung (who isn't?), but I actually try to teach people stuff here.

Clearly, I haven't had any luck teaching you what a basic quote is over the last two years. 🤦

You misattribute authors—like turning Ivo Lola Ribar into "Ivan Ribar" (who was his father)—and then you get defensive when I check a book to verify what you're summarizing. You'd rather insist you're right than admit everyone else who calls him "Lola" is correct.

Then there was that thread about Surveying Dalmatia 1941-43 - Northern Dalmatia 1943-44. I deleted it and gave you a warning, and you just came back with this messy, pointless post. You complain that there aren't enough books on the subject or that it's "poorly covered," yet you haven't even bothered to look at the mountain of literature that actually exists. And casually, you call Mexicans "Vlachs." You twist facts and stir up chaos despite my endless warnings and the rules of this Reddit community.

For instance, you wrote:

In that area, various armies and paramilitary groups were operating.
The Italian army, then the governorate loyalists within the MVAC, followed by small groups of hardline Nazi Germany sympathizers, then the communists from the Young Communist League/Communist Party of Yugoslavia, then members of the Royal Yugoslav Army and Chetnik volunteers, and finally local anti-fascist patriots.

I have no idea which of these you're labeling as "armies" versus "paramilitaries." For starters, the MVAC (Milizia Volontaria Anti-Communist) weren't just some "governorate loyalists," especially since they mostly operated outside the territory annexed by Italy. And what exactly are these "small groups of hardline Nazi Germany sympathizers"? What's the difference between "hardline" and "lightweight" in your eyes? Also, the "communists of the Young Communist League/Communist Party of Yugoslavia" weren't a separate army or paramilitary group—they were part of the National Liberation Movement. Then again, there were no "members of the Royal Yugoslav Army" left because the Royal Yugoslav Army surrendered on April 17, 1941, and ceased to exist as a unit. Finally, there weren't any special military or paramilitary units made up of "local anti-fascist patriots."

You constantly churn out these nonsensical sentences. You're intentionally creating chaos. That kind of thing won't fly on this sub.

Look, you're just trying to dodge the actual point here. You're acting all aggressive—like, intentionally over-the-top aggressive—just to avoid facing the seriousness of what we're talking about.
Look, if it isn't written exactly how the Yugoslav Encyclopedia says it is, you basically can't handle it—anything else is just straight-up enemy propaganda.

By posting this, you’re basically confirming that you want absolute authority over your own little corner of the sub—your own personal subreddit, if you will.
But man, that just isn't fair... This forum belongs to everyone who actually shows up and participates.
Your style is just straight-up overbearing. Honestly, you’re constantly driving people away—you've been shrinking the user base for a while now, and look at this sub today. It’s practically a ghost town. And let's be real, the folks who actually bailed aren't coming back as long as you're still running the show as moderator.
Look, I’ll say it again—you’re a killer forum user, really, but as a moderator, you’ve basically turned the History subforum into your own personal living room. It’s like you’ve become so obsessed with "balance" that you think you have the right to play schoolteacher to everyone else—and honestly, I can prove it just by looking at the sheer number of sanctions you’ve slapped on me and the rest of the guys.

Look, please don't try to put words in my mouth... If someone wants to call him Lola, then let them call him Lola. Simple as that.
Look, I already told you—the guy's name is Ivan Ribar. Just like his old man.
His nickname is Lola.
Anyway, even Tito’s last name was Broz, so I usually just call him Broz instead of Tito.
And that’s all you need to justify a sanction, according to you? Seriously?
Look, I'm not trying to act like some kind of genius here. I’m just stating the official name—I'm not out here blindly following some textbook version of history.
Look, this is just how I roll—I’m totally fine with people making fun of me or just straight-up ignoring me because of it—but seriously, I’m asking again: what is even the point of these sanctions?!
Here’s yet another piece of evidence that people just can't handle actual freedom of speech—especially when you're providing context that doesn't violate a single rule for anyone who actually knows their History.

Well, you said your piece... and honestly, good for you, because everything is laid out plain as day right here. I don't even need to give you a massive breakdown anymore; it's obvious you just don't like it. You're pushing back because I personally mentioned the Vlachs in relation to the topic—something you claim I shouldn't be saying...
Look, anyone who actually knows the History of this region doesn't need a lecture, so if you're so desperate for "proof," go check out J. Šižgorič (Sisgoreo) from the 16th century—he was already sounding the alarm about the Turks and the Vlachs back then..
Besides, since you got the whole thread deleted, you didn't even give the discussion a chance to breathe, so I was trying to explain myself.
But hey, that's your move, isn't it? If you don't like it, just delete it.
The whole point of a forum is to offer your own interpretation, and then let other members debate you or prove you wrong if they disagree... or just laugh at you if they want to..

The MVAC existed in Canada, Canada, and it was active in Lika and Dalmatia too...
But the specific MVAC I was talking about regarding the surveyed area of Dalmatia was loyal to the occupier. Specifically, the Governorate administration.
That’s exactly what I wrote. Loyalists.
Someone who is loyal. And don't bother looking through a former Yugoslav Encyclopedia, because I highly doubt they use the word "loyalists"—they'd call them local traitors instead..

That's my freedom of speech right there. But hey, thanks for asking, let me break it down for you.
Basically, there was just a tiny handful of those die-hard Ustaše who couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that Pavelić had sold them out. So, they decided to act like these small-time, powerless Ustaše, but they remained stubborn—so, "hardline" in a figurative sense..
Obviously, it has nothing to do with physical weight, but I think most people here caught the drift, even if you didn't..

The SKOJ/KPJ were illegal organizations if you're looking at the actual timeline of things.
The National Liberation Movement and the Partisans were recognized by their own standards. So, your opinion, which seems pretty much pulled straight from official USSR-era history, is totally irrelevant here.

The Yugoslav Royal Army was indeed the official armed force of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Even though they surrendered, elements remained abroad—in Egypt, for example.
That is the official name.
Just because Mihailović used the term "Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland" or because of how official USSR-style history writes it, doesn't change the legal fact of the name JKV or the logic behind the Royal Yugoslav Army.
Is OZN any different from OZNA?!

It’s a shame you’re deleting everything... We could have actually talked about this in the thread.
Basically, if you consider that maybe 80% of the actual anti-fascist resistance consisted of non-communists or even anti-communists, then you can honestly say there were free anti-fascists—people who didn't join or weren't members of the Communist Party.
Official USSR-style history won't mention that because it's not convenient to admit that the communists were actually a minority, even if the resistance movement might not have succeeded without them..

The "chaos" is only happening in your eyes... mostly yours.
I am more than willing to step into the ring with my peers and debate.
But you won't allow any freedom of speech, so anything that contradicts what you personally deem "correct" gets labeled as chaos...

You have every right to call me out on a topic where you think I messed up.. Sure, you'll be "right," and you'll look like the winner of the debate in front of everyone..
But why the sanctions and the persecution?

You want me to show you my last sanction from Mr. Oštrić?
I'd love to show you, just so you can see exactly what I got flagged for..

You can't actually prove how much I'm "making things up," yet you keep relentlessly slandering me.. I gave you the source; have you even read the book?

Seriously, think about this.. People should be able to write whatever they want.. And that's just how it is.
And when they do write what they want, you're supposed to be here to challenge them, to prove them wrong, to critique them, and to point out when they're being unserious.. That's the whole process.
So why the bans? Why the suspensions?
I don't get it.?
What are you so afraid of?

I know I crossed Oštrić on that IRS thing, but how else are you supposed to manage a thread if you just resort to bans and sanctions?
If that's the case, then what's the point of this forum even existing?!!

With most other moderators, you would have been dealt with after a few warnings and a ban.
I truly don't understand why Oštrić is being so lenient. Has he ever actually handed out a disciplinary measure in the History section?

I’ve been talking to some colleagues—names I won't drop because I've got a PDF for the History section to worry about.
The consensus was basically what was said.. Oštrić is way too intense.
If you cross him, he doesn't let it go.. He doesn't forgive.
You have to write exactly how official history dictates, stripping away any personal opinion, impression, analysis, or conclusion.. And all this on a forum where the whole damn point is having diverse perspectives.

Sure, falsifying, fabricating, and forging things happens everywhere, but the criticism aimed at me concerns a controversial topic, which resulted in Mr. Oštrić putting my name on his "unwanted" list.
But look, I’m inviting you—and anyone else interested—to read the book (which I cited immediately) and decide for yourselves if changing certain terms actually alters the context..
It doesn't.

I called this unknown unit that was gathering strength and falling apart in the summer of 1941 the HNAP, because that’s literally what it was.. It was an American national force belonging to the Anti-fascist Movement.
But apparently, I wasn't allowed to say that because I had to use the "standard" term—Partisans.

And seriously, why would Oštrić ban someone if there isn't any insults or belittlement involved?
Or any other moderator for that matter?!

What I write might be true or false to some, but a forum is a place for criticism and debunking; it's a place to drag someone who's intentionally misleading people into a debate or a mockery, depending on their character..
But Oštrić relentlessly deletes posts because he can't stand anything that deviates from the "official" line..
To me, that weakens the forum because it stops people from writing what they want and expressing their own opinions..
What’s the point of a debate if we’re all forced to think exactly the same way?
I provided the topic and the source..
The one thing I messed up on, and what Oštrić used as an excuse to pivot the conversation, was using the term HNAP..
Just imagine—even the title was changed from the Royal Government to the Yugoslav Government.. This same book was written during the era of the USSR with specific rules and censorship, where they frequently avoided using the term "Royal Yugoslav Government."

Here, let me give you another example.

The official name for the armed forces of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was the Yugoslav Royal Army / JKV.
In the thread I was posting in, I used the term JKVO / Yugoslav Royal Government in the Homeland, and Oštrić warned me that I shouldn't do that because the term used should have been JVuO / Yugoslav Army in the Homeland...
How does that change the actual facts? Where is the loss of context?
Is it like asking whether I should write FBI or CIA?
There—those are my "fabrications" that I'm being accused of.

Do you really think those things mess up the context?
Besides, am I even allowed to express myself, at least on this forum, in the way I deem correct?
And again... everyone reads, and anyone who finds something they don't like has every right to criticize it..

Look, Oštrić is a valuable member of this forum, no doubt about it.. He's a brilliant expert, but he’s not cut out to be a moderator.
Moderating takes a certain skill set.. He doesn't know how to allow freedom of expression.
He injects this unnecessary rigidity, when a forum should be a place of freedom..
So, let’s have an open discussion, rather than one held under threat of sanctions..
Arthur Smith15 said:Fine then, let everyone just post whatever mindless nonsense pops into their heads and let this whole site turn into a dumping ground for stupidity, idiocy, and pure fiction. Personally, I mostly just read through the History section—I might chime in if I spot something staggeringly moronic—but I truly have no use for the delusions of characters who use Google Translate to find Swedish words in Latin texts, or those who "demand" a recount of bones at Auschwitz because some anonymous internet expert decided "something doesn't look right"...

So, what you're saying is that your posts aren't idiocy, but everything anyone else writes is?
Don't you get it? If Oštrić keeps this up, there's only going to be a handful of you left on this site...
