Arming Ukraine in War in Ukraine ·

It won't happen. This is a wartime footing we're talking about.
You just burn through resources and stop asking questions. We aren't in some peacetime bureaucracy where everyone obsesses over paperwork, procurement cycles, maintenance schedules, and supply chain optimization...
It’s the same way things work back home—you grab whatever is available and make it work. If it runs, you use it. If it breaks, you toss it and move on to the next thing...

What else can we actually get over to Ukraine that carries some real weight? I’m thinking things like those old Russian Mi-8 or Mi-17 helicopters sitting in storage, or maybe those mobile Gvozdika howitzers gathering dust in a depot. Even tanks—maybe something like the M-84, which is basically just a derivative of the Soviet T-72.
Idiocracy (2006) in Movies ·
I’d heard the buzz about this movie, but I finally sat down and watched it yesterday.
Fifteen years ago, this probably would've been nothing more than bottom-of-the-barrel trash—hardly watchable. Nowadays? It feels more like a documentary, though it leans heavily into horror territory.

I actually caught a comment on YouTube claiming the whole thing is just a time traveler’s tale repackaged into a screenplay.

Nosy banks in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
There’s been quite a stir over this, but let’s be honest: nothing is actually going to change. Someone running a criminal enterprise isn't exactly routing their dirty money through a personal checking account... they'll keep doing their "business" just like they always have, without a single consequence.

Besides, the IRS doesn't even have the manpower to comb through everything or launch investigations for every little discrepancy. They simply don't have the staff or the resources to pull it off.

Take a look at this image from a different perspective.
Maintaining social stability is the core mission of any political party. What we're seeing here is just a mechanism to grab some cash if things get desperate. No political party is going to make a move that triggers widespread civil unrest.

If my memory serves me right, not too long ago, people were being stripped of their income through completely shady means—that whole era of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney, if I recall correctly—and you know what? Hardly anyone complained.

The reality is that in this country, the person who always gets screwed is the one forced to prove their innocence. Even if you're perfectly clean, you'll get hammered by the sheer amount of time and money it takes to gather all the paperwork for the IRS and everything else.

And ultimately, if this tax reform move ends up hurting the banks—like causing citizens to withdraw cash or cutting off the usual flow of digital transactions—you can bet the big banks won't take it lying down. In the end, they'll probably just hike up their service fees or find a loophole in the law. And believe me, there’s always a loophole.
