Anyone heading to Bagadur's seminar? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Dana Thompson7 said:So why even bother hanging out in places like this forum if you aren't willing to actually show what you're talking about? You've had plenty of decent offers to join the club and demonstrate your skills—what's the hold-up?

We probably won't ever get an honest answer to that question. All we can do is speculate...

Since you mentioned you write academic papers, consider this: what's the point of publishing research if the facts within that work can't be verified? That kind of work has to go through peer review in a journal, right? Well, think of this seminar as a "peer review" for your own mastery. It's basically the same reason you attend conferences and lectures—consider this your own little symposium...

There are several reasons why you're hesitant to step up.
I see the core of your reasoning right there in your comment about scientific writing...

- If you actually revealed your identity and demonstrated your ability, you’d destroy the credibility you've spent years building in your professional and social circles. People would see what you post on forums like this... and let's face it, there are already enough "know-it-alls" and similar characters in this country...

- And the second reason? Your skills don't quite translate from theory to reality—it's much easier to fight behind a keyboard and scrape knowledge off Google...

If a statistician looked at those two points, they'd find a "significant correlation," or whatever the technical term is...

Best,

haha 🤣 what a complete idiot 👍 👍

Man, you've put up 3,063 posts—I bet they're all about Wing Chun—and in every single one, you're looking down on people...

You think you're hilarious, but this forum is exactly where you belong.

From what I can tell, nobody really cares about your opinion anyway, and after this, even fewer will.

Maybe show up in person sometime, then maybe—just maybe—your future posts might actually carry some weight...

I’m certain your response to this will be either nitpicking my grammar or just ignoring me entirely—it's always easier to run away and hide. But just be honest for once... stick to talking about athletics instead of Wing Chun.

Like I said... it's just clones attacking. 🤣 👍

Exactly.😁 🙂

Just enough to get by... you happy now?🙂

Tyler Taylor6 said:Can you demonstrate Tan Sao in both theory and practice? I think it's mentioned in the ad.

Like I said before, I'm only doing this for the money... but not for $30 like the guy from The New York Times, more like for $33 👋

Ouanna said:Hey everyone...

In my opinion, very few people will actually show up to this seminar... The most arrogant ones definitely won't... And honestly, it’s probably because they're afraid it might reveal that their supposed "skill" isn't much of anything at all—especially since they've likely never even seen Wing Chun, let alone practiced, studied, or truly understood it...

Tyler Taylor6 started this thread about the history of Wing Chun in America, and Larry King37 picked up the trail nicely... It's true, Mr. Slago (better known on this forum as "the old man from the legendary garage") was really the one who first brought Leung Ting to Chicago, though the rest of the story is a bit different from the mainstream version that seems to "rule" these boards...

Just a quick tangent here—my apologies to anyone annoyed that I didn't send the second half of this email to the proper thread... 👋

🙂 looks like we've entered clone season again 👍 🤣

(and you can show me that seated version of Ba Duan Jin too)

man, I wish... 😁

Besides, what would I even be doing there...😕

You won't know for sure until tonight...

To an average person, though, karate and Wing Chun are basically one and the same.🙂

bluerock said:I know someone who takes them—she's dealing with MS, and they suggested ENADU because she just didn't have the energy to live her life normally; she had to lie down and rest constantly. Well, she says it actually helped and she's been feeling great ever since she started taking it.

That's great, glad to hear it works 🙂

jadetinker85 said:I don't think it can hurt—if I'm following correctly, it’s just a coenzyme that our bodies already have plenty of...

Well, as long as it isn't harmful, that's what matters...😁

jadetinker85 said:I honestly think it’s just a placebo effect. 🙄

Well, quite a few people have told me that—though it’s a relatively expensive placebo, if you ask me... 🙄—but also, could it actually be harmful? Is there any truth to that?😕

Is anyone else still using ENADA NADH? I'm curious what your experiences have been—any insights at all? Given how brutal my training sessions can get, I find myself reaching for some ENADA every now and then... it seems to help me push through. What about you guys?

Jesse Lee3 said:Even Jackie Chan (unknown) was on the heavier side—but regardless of his build, he was highly respected both as an actor and as a martial arts master.
He’d often make jokes about his own weight in his movies...

But he isn't some slob, nor is he just some twenty-year-old kid like I pointed out in my opening post!

skeptik said:To me, Fedor Emilianenko looks kind of soft. Still, the guy was a world champ in Pride. 🙄

He’s definitely not soft... he’s just got a thicker build and more mass... but he's incredibly agile, fast, and conditioned... he just doesn't have those shredded, "bodybuilder" muscles. Fedor Emilianenko is actually built really well and stays ready... it's just that people nowadays are so used to seeing defined "fitness models." Personally, I've always valued Fedor Emilianenko's approach to physical training over Mirko's... not saying anything against Mirko specifically, by the way—I'm actually friends with his bench press coach—but generally speaking, that specific style of conditioning isn't really my thing.👋

dustywolf52 said:Fu Bayer is missing "just" the hand he lost in a freak accident—he’s rocking a wooden one now. Honestly, I think getting hit by a wooden fist might actually be worse.

IP man... hm... I highly doubt he could have held his own against students like Wong, Tsui Shang Tin, and the others once he hit his 70s. It’s pretty simple—once you're over 70, your body just starts to fail you; bones get brittle, strength fades... the whole thing declines. Just look at how much Yip Chun has struggled over the years. Poor guy is practically trembling...

I don't even know why I bother replying when you clearly have all the answers anyway... it doesn't matter if Wong testified or whatever else... you already know everything. 🤣

dustywolf52 said:The book is titled "108 Shaolin Wooden Man Techniques." My training group—the one I practiced Wing Chun with under Truntić—already has copies lying around for free.

Aha, I see... but like I mentioned before, arts like Wing Chun or Aikido don't really demand specific physical builds... if you try to put yourself into something like kwon Do 🤣 now, that's a completely different story 👋

Jamie Fowler2 said:Just training isn't enough to manage your weight—usually, it's just a lack of discipline in every other part of your life.

For example? Yang Cheng Fu was so overweight by his fifties that he couldn't even perform Tai Chi properly. He passed away at 56.

(I could use myself as an example and admit I'm a total slob, but my ego won't let me...) 😁

Saying martial arts don't depend on physical fitness is... well, it's stupid. You need a baseline level of physical and mental capability to do anything, let alone combat sports... you can't even be an alcoholic without a minimum level of bodily (liver 😁) capacity.

On the flip side, I once met a blind guy who practices Aikido. Where there is will, there is a way. (And that's mental fitness again...)

-Drop the ego. If you know you're a slob, then you're already halfway there... you're on the right track. 👍
-No, physical factors aren't what matters... For instance, Fu Bayer doesn't have his left arm below the elbow, and Yip Man was just a tiny little old man who could toy with anyone... skill is everything, nothing else!

dustywolf52 said:I didn't even say I was a pig. What do you even mean by "pigs" anyway? Give me an actual example.

Look, I was being clear... if someone is young, healthy, and actually training in martial arts, I don't see it as normal if they can't manage their weight and end up overweight... that's what I call pigs. Personally, I'd rather die a traditional death than live as a pig.🙂
