Who are your favorite "best" Chinese Wing Chun practitioners? in Martial Arts & Combat Sports ·
Jesse Lopez87 said:Wong hasn't been dead for decades—he passed away back in 1997.

If you actually know that, why are you acting like he's still around? The whole point here is about the wirelines. Maybe try reading a bit more carefully next time. [/B]

Jesse Lopez87 said:Look, man, IP Chun was basically just playing music until his 50s or 60s—it wasn't until he ran out of cash that he really dove into Vin Cun. Honestly, I'm just totally over all these "GREAT" masters and this "AUTHENTIC VIN CUN" nonsense. People can claim lineage from their old teachers all they want, even if their own Vin Cun isn't worth a damn.

🙂

You aren't even qualified to talk since you don't practice Wing Chun... Every major master recognizes IP Chun, and he led the global organization and everything... so yeah, you're wrong. He started training when he was about ten years old (not sure of the exact age), but you clearly have no clue who this man was and yet you're talking trash... have some shame. Besides, are you saying all those people in the UK and the rest of the world opening schools based on IP Chun are just idiots? Give me a break.

penultimate) Leung Ting
last) IP Chun (terrifying)

Has anyone seen the video of IP Chuan?
🙂 🙂 🙂
Just... absolutely insane🙂

So, what you're saying is the great master Wong just rose from the grave? Or do you simply lack the basic knowledge to realize the man has been dead for decades? ...seriously.. You aren't even competent enough to weigh in here since you don't even train Wing Chun—you clearly have no clue what you're talking about... Sure, you can make your own little list of favorites... but you should be ashamed to write like that about Yip mana's eldest son... the legendary IP Chun... a man respected by all the great masters... a true virtuoso... who, at 80 years old, still holds his own perfectly while sparring with practitioners three times his age... and who, by the way, received a special award for contributions to martial arts development in the United Kingdom... I actually saw it happen with my own eyes when he was honored at the first anniversary of Yip mana in Hong Kong... honestly, have some shame...

a now I'm not sure if you even know the difference.

I have no idea which video you were watching...

wanderingridge said:I'm telling you, that guy in the video was ALLEGEDLY him. The fight itself was honestly a joke—when he landed hits, they were fast, sure, but there was zero power behind them. Plus, he kept pulling his head back just to avoid getting hit... he looked completely overwhelmed.
Look, I'm not claiming it's him. I've never actually met the guy, so I don't know. I don't know what kind of champion he was; I'm just repeating what I saw and read. It might not even be him.
And for the record, I never claimed to be some kind of master, so your little jab about me being a "virtual expert" doesn't really hold water.

You have a reputation for looking down on masters and certain martial arts, which is why I brought it up... honestly, basing an opinion on some random video clip when you can't even verify if it's authentic is a pretty serious way to disrespect anyone, let alone a grand master like Cheung!

It’s pretty unlikely you actually saw a video of William Cheung fighting... by the way, that "little girl" you're talking about was a Southeast Asian free fight champion... an instructor and idol for Bruce Lee, the head instructor for a US military base in Yokosuka, Japan—serving the Seventh Fleet, no less! Back in the day, he was measured as the fastest striker in the world (clocking 8.3 hand strikes per second in 1985 at the famous Harvard University Gait analysis Laboratory). In 1983, Black Belt named him Kung Fu Personality of the Year and inducted him into the Martial Arts Avenue... he had over 250 fights and wins against practitioners of various styles... a legend in organized street-fighting tournaments back in the seventies when he shocked everyone by taking down a legendary Russian fighter and bodyguard who outweighed him by 100 kg... he holds all sorts of records... for instance, he beat 32 opponents in a Chi Sao competition, one after another, in just ninety minutes... but sure, to a "keyboard warrior" like you, he fights like a "little girl."😂 🤣 God, the internet is something else... I'd love to see you in the ring with one of those "little girls."🤣 🤣

After years of deep diving into the lineage of living Wing Chun masters in China, I’ve finally landed on what I consider my definitive ranking—my personal favorites and the absolute best in my book:
1) Leung Ting
2) Victor Kann
3) Garry Lam
4) Hawkins Cheung
5) William Cheung
6) IP Ching (the youngest son of Yip mana)

🙄 😁
