You could sit here posting for a hundred years about this or that—it won't change a thing.
Someone actually needs to send Bellwether a direct message containing a formal request, solid arguments, and proof that there’s actual public demand behind it.

It almost sounds like a joke, but I actually have the evidence:

EDIT: the smiley I’m talking about is way down in the 12th post.

Sorry, getting a bit off-topic here...🤣

When I first signed up, it wasn't even there.

Oh, and yeah, I'm also supporting the facepalm.☕

Is there any way at all we could get this image-smiley added to the default set on our beloved forum here? It’s actually huge over on the ESPN message boards... 🙂

Maybe we should eventually bring in some Hawkeye tech for those tricky calls on the field. As for the whole salary cap mess... well, that’s more of a legal headache than anything else.

Since they asked what it is—in two words—I honestly have no clue what they were even trying to ask...
The road around the world??🤷

I mean, if you haven't got a clue what the conversation is about, why even show up?😵 🤷 😉 😘

Ronald Baker16 said:what about Horok and threes?

EDIT: actually, Horok is that other game where someone stands under the hoop and you shoot free throws. and I guess there aren't really threes from the line
thnx.

Horok, man...🤣

That’s what we Americans call it—you're shooting free throws, and your opponent is trying to knock you out with a jump shot after you miss. In Horok, you shoot for 10, 20, 30... first one to 21 wins, though the game can keep going if the person who hit 21 was the one who started the round. Then the other guy has to "hunt" them down. You see the same thing in the road around the world—once you make a shot under the basket, you start over until you miss, and then your opponent has to catch you. That's how we play back home...😁

Oh, so you're one of those people who's always sucking up to the mods, huh? Look, the guy is just asking about the rules for the World Tour game... no need to act like you didn't hear him.

Anyway, to answer Ronald Baker16—you start on the right side (or live, whatever)—basically the position closest to the baseline, and then you move up one spot at a time until you hit the free throw line. After that, you move up to the top of the key (that dashed semi-circle in front of the free throw line), then to the free throw line itself, and then out to the three-point arc. Then you just head back in reverse order toward the other side. Once you get under the hoop, you gotta sink one layup on the right and one on the left. At least, that’s how we played back in my hometown...🤷

I don't usually hang out in this corner of the forum, but when I saw this thread pop up on my main feed, I couldn't help but wonder: seriously, what kind of idiot decided to start this discussion, and why on earth would they bother?😵🤣

As for the movie itself...🤔...it’s got a few, uh, decent actresses in it, if I recall correctly.🙂

Just watch any game from the German league and I bet you'll change your mind...

Look, I didn't say it was slow or boring to me—just to Americans. And we all know how they are...😁

Adam Collins4 said:The issue is that they can't...

FIFA is just way too "stubborn" when it comes to the rules... plus, they don't give a damn about Americans...

And right there, you've got the whole hidden cause-and-effect loop behind why handball isn't catching on across the Great Plains.

Basically, if you pitched handball to them as some kind of hybrid between hockey and basketball... I think they might actually bite, provided you tweaked a few rules...

I mean, they actually accepted soccer, for God's sake.😁

Samuel Baker3 said:there’s a reason it isn't huge in the States, just like soccer...

the game doesn't stop constantly, so there's no room to shove ads down people's throats

and honestly, that's the whole thing

If that's really the issue, then screw it—let's just reinvent the damn thing. You bring handball to the US, call it...🤔...the NHA, maybe? Run four 15-minute quarters instead of two 30-minute halves, throw in two timeouts per quarter, and boom—you've got endless slots for commercials. Just roll with it.
Look, rules can be bent to make sponsors happy if that's what it takes.

I mean, the whole sporting culture in the US versus Europe is just fundamentally different—that's why baseball never really caught on in Europe. Sure, people know about it, they follow it, but it always feels kind of abstract over there.

And look, no matter how much you handball fanatics try to deny it, handball isn't exactly easy to love. Even with how much faster the game has gotten lately, it still feels pretty formulaic... nothing stands out from the rest. That’s why Magic Johnson was such a freak of nature—he took those unorthodox moves he learned on the basketball court 😍 and dragged the sport onto a completely different level.

George Robinson43 said:Denying all kinds of sacrifices is basically impossible if you want to succeed in any sport.
Do you seriously think kids in team sports can just spend their time drinking, smoking, partying, and acting like idiots and then go out and win gold medals or whatever else?
Just look at tennis—those players are finishing college degrees while competing at the highest level. What kind of "sacrifice" are we even talking about here?

I’m talking about the specific sacrifice I mentioned earlier—the financial one. Nobody is handing you a guarantee that you'll actually become an elite tennis player. Not every kid training for tennis comes from money.
For instance, obviously, the kid of a warehouse worker or a clerk at Walmart isn't going to have a shot at pro tennis, but the kid of two high school professors might. But even then, there’s a massive catch: the kid has to be insanely talented, and the parents have to be willing to tank their own standard of living just to fund the kid's training.

As for team sports, yeah, you still need sacrifice there too. That's why a local politician will never become a Thierry Henry.🙂
The only real difference is that in a team sport, you're actually allowed to have a bad day. That's it.
Magic Johnson: The GOAT, the king, the legend... in Other Sports ·
We also need to talk about the absolute financial nightmare families go through when they have a kid with actual potential in tennis. Team sports are just a better deal—they’re cheaper, more accessible, and you’ve got a much better shot at actually making it...

Sure, I get why NHL players or NBA stars are pulling in those insane, astronomical contracts—it’s because they’re playing the massive, high-profile sports that dominate the US and Canada, and I'm totally fine with that reality. But then again, you have to ask: why hasn't handball ever really broken through? It’s just not fast enough or flashy enough for the mainstream audience. Whether people want to admit it or not, that’s just how the game works.

Adam Collins4 said:Getting absolutely wrecked...from a center half...it caught me totally off guard after crossing from out wide and sprinting toward the goal line...just a bizarre coaching drill concept...

I know damn well I never tried that one again...

🙏🙏🙏

Honestly, one of the most pathetic coaching ideas I've ever seen—it’s actually impressive how the human brain can come up with such garbage🤣

And it bruises the ego, man, big time. That's exactly why you don't go diving into those kinds of insane drills anymore...🤣 🤣

Adam Collins4 said:I’m not arguing with you there... I just bit back at that "less than 10" comment...

It really comes down to how much handball actually matters in certain countries... and let's be real, some of them aren't even big players... they aren't even small fry...

I spent a couple years officiating out in the Middle East—just some friendly matches—and man... it was absolute madness...

The craziest part was reffing a women's game when it was 100 degrees out... and they were all wrapped up so tight you couldn't see a single inch of skin... if you ask me, that’s less about a love for the sport and more about survival...

Yeah, you're spot on. I've spent plenty of time watching Arabic sports channels via satellite (with those commentators 🙏 🙏 🤣), and I'd constantly stumble onto leagues from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and so on. Honestly? I think their lack of handball development isn't because they lack talent, it's more about being cut off from everything else. If those guys were watching the Champions League or the top German or Spanish leagues every single week, we'd probably see a few new powerhouse national teams popping up real quick.

And as for those women bundled up in the heat... that's not passion for handball, that's just trying to stay alive...🙏🙏
