Elizabeth Gonzalez55 said:I’ve said this a million times and I’ll say it again: when doctors tell you there’s no hope (or whatever version of that), that’s exactly when you need to start fighting the hardest. Forget their stats and their "prognoses"—those are just broad guesses based on huge groups of people. Your family member *isn't* just a number—they’re a human being, a unique individual with their own path.
Second off, I don't know much about this specific diagnosis, but I know a similar story involving a brain tumor—doctors told him not to waste money or energy, basically telling him to go home and wait for the end. Instead, he hit up the nearest pharmacy, shelled out a ton for chemo, drove halfway across the US to get treatment, tried various alternative stuff, and never once gave up on himself. That was two years ago. Today? He’s doing great, healthy, and he’s a massive inspiration for us in our own fight.
Third, I'm not sure if this page "broke" in the search results— http://www.braintumor.org/SurvivorSt...p_StoryID=3937—but I think it’s proof that you can actually survive even with a diagnosis like this one.
So, hang in there everyone—especially you, mama. Don't let the disease or the doctors get you down. Just stay brave. Maybe I don't have a perfect answer to the specific question asked, but I hope I helped boost morale a little bit. :-)
Man, that doctor's attitude totally caught us off guard. I mean, isn't their job to actually try and treat people? Not just send you packing and tell you not to waste cash... honestly, it makes you wonder if they're just looking for a kickback to show even a shred of optimism, even if it's fake. 🤷
Obviously, their opinion isn't gonna stop us from fighting with everything we've got. And thanks for the link—haven't seen it yet, but it definitely gives us some hope. 👍
