Where is Inquisitor? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
nimbletinker3 said:What's the deal with Inqui? I noticed they've been banned for quite a while now.
Is it a permanent ban? If so, what was the reason?

I can already see the moderator popping up to lock this thread because apparently, discussing other members is against the rules. 🙄

Unfortunately, they’re all from last year, but it still gives you a decent idea of what kind of stuff pops up.
Angela Wright said:Yesterday, some folks mentioned we should look into whether we’re eligible for any government or local municipal grants. We need some capital to actually get things moving (if anyone has more intel on this, please shoot me a DM).

You absolutely have a right to financial support, and we aren't talking about pocket change either. Honestly, if we can just integrate into the official system, there shouldn't even be a need for membership dues, no matter how small they are. Ever since the war ended, hundreds of useless associations have popped up for every trivial reason imaginable. Something as noble as what we're doing ought to find some traction. Back in the day, any nobody without a job but a shred of sense would start an association, so high-quality work deserves serious donations. My line of work keeps me connected to several solid nonprofits, so I'll dig into exactly how their funding structures work and message you privately.

I know for a fact that funds come from City Hall, county resources, and international grants (specifically from the Norwegian government). I'm going to find out exactly how the mechanics of all this work firsthand, then I'll let you know.

Good luck to everyone.
Robert De Niro in Movies ·
rapidwolf13 said:Born August 17, 1943, in New York City. He's basically a legend—actor, producer, director, you name it... His biggest hits? Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Godfather Part II, Casino, Ronin, Mean Streets... just way too many to list... Definitely one of my absolute favorites...

De Niro is past his prime. We went from a total perfectionist—someone who would actually learn the saxophone if the role required it, pack on 30 pounds, or bulk up into a powerhouse—to a guy whose peak dramatic performance is just a subtle head shake, eyes glued to the ceiling, and an awkward beard.

Even though he used to carry massive films, lately he seems to be picking nothing but garbage. And it'll probably stay that way. He’s 64 now, and let's be real, he was never really a "character actor" to begin with. His only options left are parodying the very roles that made him famous or trying to pivot into heavy drama, which isn't working particularly well. Regardless, he remains one of my favorite actors.
Art appraisals/valuations? in Classifieds ·
Hannah Alvarez7 said:I’ve got this painting at my place—it was a gift from my dad's godfather, who came from one of those old-money, high-society families back in the Austro-Canadian era. It’s framed in this fancy gold frame, though you can barely make out the signature... just a depiction of Mary holding the baby Jesus.
My mom isn't even thinking about selling it, but when this historian swung by to check it out, he basically said he couldn't give a solid price because it's worth way too much—he just suggested we take it "somewhere" to get it appraised properly. So, where the hell is "somewhere"??? Or maybe someone here could do me a solid and tell me if I should just snap some photos and post them?

Look, take a breath, grab a drink, and rewrite your opening post. I’ve read this three times now and I honestly have no clue what you're trying to say.

1. Who you got it from is completely irrelevant.
2. There are more paintings of Mary and the Infant Jesus than there are veterans in the VA registry.
3. There are as many gold frames as there are people in a mid-sized suburban suburb.

Don't bother photographing it for this forum. Just pack it up and head to the nearest major art gallery. Most curators probably won't know what they're looking at either, but maybe you'll get lucky and actually identify the artist.

Good luck. You're essentially starting your own Da Vinci Code. 👍

Such nice guys.

If you ever decide to cross Legalend, expect to get served on a silver platter. 😉
I’m betting on a total disaster.

Then why that comment about ambitions involving some vomit icon??? Isn't that a bit out of line, considering nobody actually mentioned forced agendas or "sick ambitions" anywhere? Honestly!😲 😲
It's definitely unclear what that remark was even aiming at. Who wouldn't want their kids to just be kids?

The icon was meant to highlight certain points. My apologies to anyone who felt offended. Blame the faulty PDF 😬. Alright, we've cleared that up, let's move on.

By pure coincidence, I see about four or five young musicians passing by my living room window every single day. Some are legitimately aiming for Juilliard or the Curtis Institute, while others should probably be banned from touching an instrument in the presence of living beings. And look, I'm a parent too. God knows there are wonderful people out there, but there are also—to put it mildly—idiots who mistreat their children. And what's the result? Under various kinds of pressure, these kids end up finishing some joke of a music program, move on to high school, lose their minds right before graduation, and end up with nothing to show for it.

At my house, we've got piano, violin, guitar, and drums going. I'm also a father who cares about his kids. So, I think I know what I'm talking about.

Special shoutout to Zlo. 🙏

There isn't a single shred of sanity left here. If there were, I’d send you somewhere truly unmentionable.

What kind of response do you actually expect when you start rambling about lowlifes and trashy shacks?

letting kids grow up to be uneducated hillbillies?
just let them wander the streets with empty heads and nothing to do but get high

Suddenly, it’s an issue because you want to let your kid learn a second language or pick up an instrument.
What kind of miserable, backwater town am I living in? For God's sake.

Who even told you that? Don't go getting offended on my account—I wasn't talking to you directly. I'm just sharing an opinion, get it? And where exactly are you keeping a grand piano in that shack of yours? 😬

You need to guide a child, not force them. Find what they actually care about and nurture that. Otherwise, you end up with a jack-of-all-trades who's a master of absolutely nothing. Kids suffer because of their parents' sick sense of ambition. It's a long-term disaster. And one more thing: a child lives their own life, not their mother's or father's. Theirs.

What’s the problem? Use your brain. You can't just sit there watching Japanese ballet and Danish dramas all day long.

Honestly, one of the absolute dumbest scenes ever put to film: McIntosh and the viruses. Back home, people were showing up to premieres in tractors.

They have to find some way to make it work when they don't even have a clue. 😬

Don't take it personally; I'm just venting for the sake of it. I see what's happening, but I refuse to admit it.

And what exactly are you enjoying? Overanalyzing the actors or listening to the host's witty commentary? By the way, how much did the organizers' pockets get lined this year?

Woody Allen, Marlon Brando, George C. Scott 🙏
Any true cinephile will know exactly what I'm getting at.

Heh, heh. I’d like to thank my mother and father for bringing me into this world, my wonderful wife, and my dear God. I want to thank the director who guided me, my kung-fu instructor, my dealer, and a few stuntmen... (pause for a few tears to fall). Yes, yes, I have waited years for this moment. Thank you, my wonderful colleagues (to myself: damn, when is this minute going to end?)... okay, okay, maybe I went a little overboard.

A Neglected ceremony filled with endless thanks to family, God, and the producers.🤮
Just a parade of tears and sentimentality.

If you want an Oscar, just play a moron, a person with a disability, or—in the last few years—someone coming out. Then it's yours.

Right-wingers use the right mouse button more often. That much is certain. 😉
