No, totally serious......
hiddenhawk3 said:Well, where I live, even older people stay with their moms.😕 Joe, if he doesn't have a job, where is he supposed to go??? 😕

true, but where are people with a paycheck of $1000 supposed to move?
Jerry Martinez5 said:He’s 27 and still living at home? That’s just wrong, diagnosis or not. And honestly, it isn't just him being unstable—it's his mother and everyone else in that house who has to deal with it.

The first step would be politely telling him he needs to move out. Then, maybe, next time he visits, you just show him the door the second he makes a scene.

But he doesn't live there, he actually has his own place all set up... He’s basically living the dream because his mom does all his laundry and cooking. No wonder he isn't in any rush... Plus, she stays out of his business and rarely even visits. He's got it made.

I did a little reading on some texts and yeah, that might be it... fits both the cause and the behavior pattern perfectly.
oh, and one more thing... I put "genetics" in the subject line because my dad was exactly like that.
Alex Bennett3 said:It’s just a waste of energy focusing on an idiot... there's that old saying, "blood is thicker than water," I suppose.

Hopefully they at least have the numbers for 911 or emergency services memorized if things actually kick off.

Man, I wish it were that easy... It would be so much better if this just went away. But because they're so intertwined, I don't see how I can ever shake them.

They all act like they're just waiting for everyone to move to different sides of town (at least, that's what they tell me), but they don't realize how tight-knit they actually are. Moving just one neighborhood over won't change a thing...

And honestly, splitting up a family isn't something I want to do.
Honestly, I’m almost more curious about how to get a family—or even the whole household—to really step up, confront him together, and try to use some tough love and consistency to finally get him back on track...
He basically grew up without any real authority figures in his life...
Alex Bennett3 said:There’s probably some logic behind it, I suppose...

Personally, I lost patience with people like that a long time ago. If things get bad enough, I’ll just pack up and walk away. You have to learn how to navigate around them—find ways to dodge their nonsense entirely.

Haha, I just love him... honestly, I can't help it, I love him endlessly...

But I really can't deal with it anymore. Especially since I've become part of the family now. He acts like that toward me too, and when I'm over at their house, it’s just not right for me to be cleaning up after him there...

I'd love to help, though. It's just getting hard to watch how he treats his mom, not to mention the dog.
hollowgardener7 said:Fine. Let them keep feeding him. 👍 They have turned him into a monster who thinks he can mistreat everyone. They can deal with the consequences.

I know some older folks who would simply say: "Send him to work a manual labor job in the Midwest."

Yeah, everything is being handled wrong......
And nobody wants to actually talk about it, even though he gets worse by the day..
He can get away with anything... there are zero consequences...
No tough love...
Just constant enabling in hopes that things will magically improve.

It's wild, but he gets this special royal treatment specifically because of how he acts, mostly because his mom clings to those rare moments when he's actually being normal.

Oh, and he's 27 now.
Alex Bennett3 said:He just needs a serious reality check to knock some sense into him—and he’ll need one every single time he thinks he’s learned his lesson.

Honestly, I suggested the exact same thing... but his family just airs everything out in public. It’s a miracle things don't just blow up in his face and leave him 👎
hollowgardener7 said:Hm, he strikes me as a psychopath. 🤷 Someone like that isn't going to change. I feel for his family.

Yeah, honestly worse than I even imagined someone could be... I wish I could go into detail about what happened, but I really shouldn't.😢

What makes you say that?

I think I'll do a little reading to see if those symptoms actually match up.
shadowtrucker18 said:A narcissist?

I know someone who hits all those narcissistic checkboxes, but he isn't aggressive at all. He's totally different from this guy. He just manipulates you, plays word games, and constantly quotes these "idols" of his...

But this guy isn't like that. He isn't calculating. He’s actually pretty simple...
and incredibly aggressive. One second he's fine, then he just snaps. He loses it, turns pale, and honestly, he's capable of killing someone... or smashing everything in sight...

Plus, he's insanely jealous of his own brother. It's really messed up...
I’m going to keep things vague to protect everyone's privacy...

I’m honestly trying to wrap my head around one thing. What goes through someone's mind when they snap? Like, hurting their own dog, losing it on a highway because someone didn't use a blinker, being abusive to family unless they need something, and acting like everyone else is just trash...

The kicker is how they play the saint to everyone else. They act like the ultimate martyr, telling people how unappreciated they are—even though none of that "hard work" actually exists. They play the victim so convincingly that I'm pretty sure they even believe their own lies...

Since I'm basically part of this family, I see everything firsthand. It's pretty horrifying. Just a selfish, cold, spoiled monster who is genuinely convinced they're the only person who matters.

nimblemaker30 said:So, let me get this straight—you heard a banging noise a week ago?

And yet, after only seven days—just seven single days—you've already spiraled into full-blown paranoia and are hovering on the edge of suicide? Either you're being incredibly dramatic, or you're lying to us...

When I look back at your history and see all those ridiculous claims about traveling back from the future and other nonsense, I can only conclude that the one actual, genuine problem you're dealing with is Munchausen syndrome. 👎

honestly, feels more like schizophrenia to me

Take a look at what else this guy has posted before deciding if he needs a therapist or a priest...

😲

He was just traveling through time... no big deal.

I’d love to share what it’s like living with schizophrenia in my family, but the stories are pretty specific, so it might not be the best place to vent... It’s heavy stuff. And honestly, the hardest part is how difficult it is to get someone who isn't being aggressive to actually accept treatment...
It's like staring at a green wall while everyone insists it's blue and calls you crazy... just awful.

I’ll ask again: What seems to be the issue?

Just read through the posts. You'll see the problem for yourself eventually.🙄

Rebecca Scott3 said:Most psychiatrists and psychologists are recruited from people who already have issues in their own heads. They're often manipulators looking for literal power over another human being. I can't think of any other profession where you can legally ruin someone's life and then call it "helping" or "therapy." I feel for anyone who ends up in their hands.
Don't worry about me; I'm doing just fine. Actually, I'm doing a whole lot better than that psychiatrist who would love to have me under his thumb if he were actually smart enough to pull it off. You think I tell him about singing the songs of the Era from the great beyond? No way. I just tell him how I listen to classical music to relax and how I sing every day, and then everything is perfectly fine.
The difference is I can tell you guys what I actually do because none of you are going to lock me up or force-feed me pills. At the end of the day, what do you really know about my life? For all you know, maybe I spend my time picking grapes on a chimney. Or maybe you're actually my doctor, interrogating me online to check in on me, but you could never be sure who I am because I say something completely different when I'm sitting in the office. Go ahead, try to guess who I am. Maybe I stopped by to visit you yesterday and spent the whole time talking about chickens.
And now, I'll throw in a scary face just to give you a little fright.

if this counts as normal thinking
