Kidney surgery recovery: any tips? in Health ·
Joshua Kelly5 said:Don't get ahead of yourself worrying about how much weight you'll be able to lift after surgery; just focus on getting mentally ready for the procedure itself. Recovery is going to be a marathon, not a sprint, depending on how your body reacts and what the doctors decide the scope of the resection needs to be. If everything goes according to plan—and it will—give yourself a solid six months before you expect to be back to doing basic everyday stuff. I really hope you're in a good headspace right now, because mental resilience is huge for healing. Most people obsess over the physical side, but honestly, the mental toll—dealing with anxiety or feeling depressed—is what can really throw a wrench in things. I went through this exact thing four years ago and I'm doing fine now. Wishing you nothing but the best, plenty of patience, and a strong support system from your family, which makes all the difference.

Well, I *have* to think about that because I have a four-month-old baby, and right now, my mom is literally the only person helping me. I need to plan out those months ahead of time, which is honestly a nightmare to organize...
Obviously, the main thing is that the surgery goes well, but six months off? For me... that's basically impossible 🤷 , so I'm just crossing my fingers that I can get back on my feet sooner...🤷

I’m trying to figure out how the heavy-duty jobs are looking right now because I've got a little one at home. Doctors are telling me I can get back to it after two months, but honestly, I want to know what the actual reality is on the ground...
I mean, it probably varies from person to person, right?

Anyone here gone through kidney surgery—specifically getting one removed?
How bad was the pain afterward? And how long were you stuck on bed rest?
When did you actually start feeling human again? Like, when could you finally move around without issues or handle stuff like picking up a kid and all that?😕

Unfortunately, it’s the cold, hard truth. I just found out recently that I’ve got some decay starting at the roots—looked like brownish buildup, maybe tartar or whatever, I don't know, I've never dealt with this before. So I head to the dentist, right? And she's basically like, "Yeah, acid erosion totally ate through your enamel. Your only option is coming back so we can patch those spots up." Apparently, it’s from all the acidic stuff I eat combined with brushing too hard. She told me to switch to a soft-bristle brush and some mild paste—absolutely no whitening crap—and recommended Parodontax.
And seriously, it’s such a catch-22—you try to be all on top of your hygiene and end up wrecking your teeth instead. 😲

But I finally took one this morning because my throat is super sore and it's really bothering me. I wanted to take some Klavocin or maybe another antibiotic I have lying around from last time, but I didn't want to risk hurting the baby at all if there actually is one... the test was negative 🙂 though I guess maybe I just took it too early.😛My last period started on May 20th, 2007, and since I've had two cycles following my D&C, things haven't really stabilized yet; my first period was 35 days after, and the second was closer to 45 days... I don't really know much about testing, and I definitely don't have the energy to read through 62 pages of info on the subject, so I figured I'd just ask you guys who actually know what you're doing...🙂

Look, Klavocin, Amoxil, and all those other penicillin antibiotics? You can take them without a worry. I've popped tons of them and asked every doctor under the sun, and they still push them on me. One of them is actually my cousin who's a head OB/GYN, so I stopped stressing about it.
According to them, any infection in your system (since it could turn into something worse) is way more dangerous for the baby than penicillin is.
I'm just passing on what I was told, so honestly, just call your doctor and ask so you don't suffer for nothing.

So, she just told me she used PRIMASTICK, so please tell me—how reliable is that brand? And do the lines have to be super dark, or is it normal if they're a bit faint?

It was obvious to me right away, pretty sure that was the one. Just run the test again to be safe.
