Grab a test! (For anyone wondering if they're pregnant)

Help, I’m losing my mind!🙂

For the first time in my life, I slept with my boyfriend without protection. We went at it several times during the night, but he never actually finished inside me—he washed up every single time.
Two weeks later, pure panic set in. It hit me that I was ovulating right around then, and we weren't using any protection. I rushed to the pharmacy and explained everything—that the encounter was two weeks ago, and I should be due for my period in about 5 or 6 days—and asked if there was a test sensitive enough for this window. The pharmacist sold me a Viacom test. I used my first morning urine, and the result was negative.
About 5 or 6 days after that, based on my own math, I expected my period. It didn't show up. Now, the thing is, I don't know my cycle perfectly. My periods are regular, but whether it's every 26, 28, or 30 days... I honestly can't say for sure. I remember my last period started roughly 29 days after the one before that, but now it hasn't arrived. Panic mode: reactivated. I went online to look up how Viacom works, and apparently, it’s reliable either on the first day of your period, when you're late, or—if you aren't sure about your cycle—at least 19 days after the encounter. So, I might have tested too early last time. I scrambled back to the pharmacy and grabbed another Viacom. I didn't have the patience to wait until morning (even though the box says you don't have to use first-morning urine) and just tested immediately. Negative again.
However, it’s been another few days (3 or 4) since then, and my period still hasn't arrived.
Is it possible that I did test too early last time? (I mean, it wasn't the first day of my period, just a few days before? Though, again, that was 19 days after the sex.)
Is it actually possible for a test to screw you over twice?
I don't have the cash to run to a private doctor right this second (plus, I'd have to ask my family for help, and I really don't want to cause an unnecessary scene or deal with being lectured—though, frankly, I probably deserve it), so I don't know if I should just grab another test right now.
I'm trying to force myself to wait until Monday because this delay isn't massive yet, but I just cannot get my anxiety under control.
On top of all this, I feel like I've had PMS for a week straight. I'm feeling these weird, dull aches in my lower abdomen and I have quite heavy discharge. Is this "normal," a sign of pregnancy, or just my imagination? I have absolutely no clue.

Please, I am begging you to tell me anything rational, because I am seriously going to lose it.

Just try to stay calm and give it a few more days before you pick up another test if nothing shows up by then. The Clearblue Early Detection tests are incredibly reliable, so if you were pregnant, it would have likely given you an answer already.

Look, there’s a test you can pick up called "911." You can actually take it about five to seven days before you even expect to see a result. So, if you're really that impatient—and honestly, who isn't?—just go ahead and do it already!

Honestly, private labs aren't going to break the bank compared to those over-the-counter tests you're picking up at the local CVS. Do a little digging—most of them have full price lists right on their websites, or you could just give them a quick call to verify. At this rate, all this second-guessing and stressing out might actually cause you to miss your window entirely.

well, not really... you can grab a test at a CVS for like, what, ten bucks?

A private doctor is just gonna send you to some lab like Quest Diagnostics to get your blood bHCG checked, which is something you could totally do on your own... 😁 I mean, you have to actually go to a lab, obviously, since you can't exactly self-diagnose hormone levels from your couch 😬...

e... just watch out so you don't stress yourself too much... I once went into such a panic that I missed my period for a really long time. Every single time I took a test, it came back negative.. then I'd go see my OBGYN and they couldn't see anything on the ultrasound either... nothing showed up at all. Eventually, the doctor actually had to prescribe me medication just to get things moving again...

look, if you take an early morning test a few days after your period was supposed to start and it's negative, then you're definitely not pregnant, so seriously, stop worrying... as for that 19-day window after sex, that's basically 14 days after ovulation, but since you don't know when you actually ovulated, you could have conceived if you had sex 5 days before... sperm can hang around that long, which is why they suggest waiting 19 days after the actual encounter

Wait about 18 days after having sex (assuming you aren't certain about your ovulation timing or the length of your luteal phase) before taking a test.

If it comes back negative, you aren't pregnant.
If it’s positive, congratulations.

P.S. I see you already tested 19 days out. Just wait for your period to arrive and try not to stress too much. 😁

Just grab your gear and head straight to the OB-GYN.

And you don't even need to go to a private clinic.

I was expecting my period to show up around the 22nd or 23rd, but here we are on the 25th and I’m still waiting. Usually, my breasts get really sore a few days before it starts, but this time there's absolutely nothing. I feel bloated like a balloon, too, yet even that hasn't happened. We were both being careful, so I'm struggling to wrap my head around how I could possibly be pregnant. Lately, I've been needing to pee much more often over the last five or six days, and there's this strange pressure in my lower abdomen. I think I'll wait another two or three days before I finally take a test. I'm just praying to God that I'm not pregnant... What do you all think the odds are?!

Why don't you just take a test right this second? It might actually give you some peace of mind. Honestly, those symptoms you mentioned could mean you're pregnant, but they also sound exactly like what happens right before your period hits...
If you're already late, you might as well just go ahead and take the test. Just a little piece of advice for next time—try not to put yourself in this kind of position—maybe start taking the pill or just stick to using condoms. I hope everything turns out the way you want it to. Good luck!

A friend suggested I wait another two or three days just to make sure the test result is actually reliable. Honestly, I feel like I’m going to grab her by the arm and sprint straight to the CVS right this second. I’m just praying to God that it isn't a baby, because if it is, there won't be a single instance where I can get away without protection again... I really don't want to go through this twice. 😢

Peter Diaz22, if you're actually pregnant, the test is going to show it today or in maybe three days—it doesn't really matter when you took the last one. I remember taking a test four days before my period was even due, and it gave me two lines within ten seconds flat.

If there's a baby on the way, your urine is going to pick up on it immediately. Don't sit there driving yourself crazy with all this emotional torture—just take the test and get some peace of mind!!!

So, I actually used a First Response test myself. Those things can pretty much give you an answer 3 or 4 days before you’re even expecting your period to start. Honestly, I’m not quite sure what to tell you—it's a lot to process. Since I'm living here in the US, the market and all the products available are a bit different from what you might be used to elsewhere. Anyway, wishing you the best of luck!

Look, all these tests are basically the same level of accuracy anyway, so there's zero point in blowing your budget on the most expensive one.
