I saw a segment on TV recently where a gynecologist mentioned that healthy women—non-smokers and such—can take them continuously until menopause.
I've been on birth control since I was 18, and now I'm 24. I started with Diane-35 because of irregular, incredibly painful periods and acne, but for the last two years, I've been taking Yasmin. I take breaks every year and a half, lasting about three months. I never had any issues before, and my gynecologist never even sent me for blood work or anything like that.
Now, for the first time, I'm experiencing side effects—terrible vaginal dryness—so I’m planning to either take a break or stop Yasmin entirely. My skin always seems to flare up during these breaks, which worries me; first, my hair gets much oilier, and after two months, painful breakouts appear around my jawline and neck. I want to know if there is any way to prevent this. It feels like I'm far too old to be struggling with acne, and I have no intention of taking Yasmin for the rest of my life just to manage my skin. Is there anything I can do to keep the acne from coming back?

Maybe you're pregnant? 😁 Just kidding, just kidding... I just don't know anyone who has gotten pregnant while on the pill.
Yasmin works immediately. At least, that’s what my gynecologist told me, and it's what the pamphlet you get with Yasmin claims. As for the others, I wouldn't know.
I know one thing for certain. Why don't you just ask a gynecologist or read the booklet that comes with the pills? They work from day one if you take them on the first day of your period. At least they worked for me.
I think Diane is definitely superior to Yasmin... she would have killed me if she had the chance.😁
I took Diane for four years, through my entire college career, and never even bothered checking my bloodwork. I was using them to manage PCOS. Later, I stopped, but my acne came back in full force, so I switched to Yasmin for a year. I quit this past summer, so I’ve been off them for three months now, but I’m thinking about starting again. They worked wonders for me—zero issues, no cellulite, no breakouts, and no side effects. Still, I should probably get my blood checked first...
Where can I go in downtown Chicago to get blood drawn privately for a coagulation test near Millennium Park or Lincoln Park, and what's the typical cost?
The title pretty much sums it up. The weird thing is, this only happens to my big toes, and it’s been going on for two years now. It specifically flares up during that seasonal transition when I switch from sandals to boots. The top layer of the nail just starts peeling away, almost like I can strip it off halfway down, but it's just that upper layer. Could this be fungus? If it were, why does it resolve once the nail grows out? Basically, the damaged part grows out in a couple of months, and then I'm fine until next autumn. I've been using Plimyco just in case—the pharmacist recommended it. Should I focus on buying something to strengthen my nails instead?
I see nobody is interested in my little pills:-
For me, my period means stomach cramps, constipation, and vomiting, though just for the first day. Everything was fine when I was on birth control, but I recently stopped and things went back to how they were—at least my cycle is regular now. To handle the cramps, I take one 2 mg Aspirin than Pregavin, and it works wonders. Just one pill once a month. The only issue is the pharmacist at my local drugstore won't sell it to me, so I send my mom; she always manages to get it. It settles the cramps incredibly fast. I'm just not sure what to do about the constipation. 😕
