OB/GYN Discussion Thread in Women's Health ·
Austin Chavez76 said:Look, you all might not realize this, but I dealt with this during my pregnancy, so I know exactly what my doctor told me. It’s a type of thing that almost every woman carries; for some it shows up, and for others, it doesn't, but generally speaking, most women have Candida. We are essentially born with it. Sometimes it remains dormant, sometimes it’s triggered by a fungal issue, and sometimes it flares up during pregnancy due to shifts in pH levels and other hormonal fluctuations that occur during that time. My doctor prescribed Nystatin cream, but he also mentioned putting me on antibiotics because they kill that specific strain. He explained that for women who have dealt with this before—those who have used creams or various tablets—antibiotics often don't do much at all. However, for women who haven't experienced it previously (which was my case, both before and after), antibiotics are actually the most effective way to eliminate it. I took the antibiotics for three days, and it cleared right up. I am not sure how things are handled in your respective countries, but here in the States, especially when this appears during pregnancy, antibiotics are utilized because it can be extremely dangerous for the baby during those first twenty weeks. There is also an antibiotic specifically for common female fungal issues that works faster than creams; it’s taken orally and doesn't interfere with your cycle the way the standard ones do. You might not be aware of this, but this is exactly how it was explained to me, and I remember it vividly because the experience was absolutely miserable...
thank God I never had any similar issues before or since... and I certainly hope I never have to deal with it again.

Not an antibiotic, but rather an anti-MYCOTIC
I have been struggling with a persistent yeast infection for quite some time now.
On Thursday, my doctor prescribed two boxes of Diflucan, which consists of 150 mg fluconazole capsules, one per dose.

I took the first capsule this past Thursday and planned to take the second one in a week.
However, I am facing a bit of a setback, as my symptoms actually subsided yesterday only to reappear again today.
Does anyone here have any personal experience or insights regarding the effectiveness of Diflucan?

It is certainly not a keloid🙂

I should clarify that I am certainly no medical expert,
however, this young man has been dealing with injuries sustained six years ago—he’s twenty-two now—following a collision with a truck.
I am struggling to find the right way to describe the scar; it is circular in shape, the skin over it feels quite thin, and you can faintly see the capillaries beneath the surface.
Could someone please provide a proper description of what constitutes a keloid scar?

I am curious whether it is possible to place a tattoo directly over scar tissue. My boyfriend is planning to get some work done on his chest, but he has a scar from a car accident he was involved in when he was a child. To be clear, the intention isn't to use the ink to mask or camouflage the scar; he simply wants the design exactly where he originally envisioned it, regardless of the skin texture

I appreciate everyone's input
