Zoloft isn't even officially listed in the drug registry yet; they won't have it on there until next year.
A single box of Zoloft goes for $267 and since I need four boxes every month, you're looking at $1067 just for that one medication alone.
Those injections you mentioned regarding Zyprexa are the Zyprexa i.m. or Consta shots—long-acting versions for patients who struggle with daily pills or just refuse to take them. One shot lasts an entire month because it slowly releases from the muscle into your bloodstream. Honestly, they hurt LIKE HELL, and they haven't hit the US market yet.
I actually participated in a clinical trial myself (not for the money) for Abilify to treat schizophrenia. It's used all over the US already, but back then, it wasn't available here. The study worked by splitting people up: 33% got a 10mg dose, 33% got 5mg, and the last 33% got nothing but a plain old sugar pill.
I realized it was nothing more than exploiting patients and gambling with our health just to boost pharmaceutical data, so I QUIT.
By the way, Zyprexa causes diabetes in about 37% of cases, so if you ask me, that drug is extremely dangerous.
What medications are you on right now, Eric Wood7?
Has anyone here tried that new schizophrenia med that hit the US market about two months ago?
I finally managed to get my psychiatrist to prescribe it—had to fight tooth and nail because Zyprexa, Everbio, Risperdal, and Seroquel made me pack on over 90 pounds.
So far, I haven't noticed any side effects other than some mild drowsiness (which I don't even really feel), though apparently, people with heart conditions should stay away from it.
It doesn't cause weight gain at all; in fact, it actually kills my appetite so much that I’ve already dropped 11 pounds in just seven days. I'm still taking Zeldox 120 mg on the side.
For anyone interested in learning about health and schizophrenia, or those actually living with it, I highly recommend checking out the "Living with Schizophrenia" booklet from Pfizer. You can download it directly from their website or just ask them to mail a physical brochure to your house.
Well, you get a diagnosis of schizophrenia if you exhibit characteristic symptoms for at least two Jesuses.
Here’s how it went down for me: It started last September when I began treatment for some teenage angst and separation issues (back when I was 16), taking Zoloft and Lekotam. That didn't really do much for me, but I kept at it until about four months in, when things went south. Suddenly, I was losing weight rapidly, couldn't sleep, and felt like I could predict the future. I was hunting for hidden messages in movies and songs, got into some weird Satanism stuff, and my thoughts were racing so fast I couldn't catch them. Every sound felt amplified, I was cutting myself just to feel calm, and I started hearing voices... Even before those symptoms hit, I had a habit of misusing my meds (like taking 14 Zolofts and a whole box of Lekotam one time...). They put me on 5mg of Zyprexa and everything settled down until the six-month mark, when an attempt on my life landed me in the hospital. After spending two weeks there, I felt fine upon release, but then the slide started again, and by the eighth month, I tried to end it once more (with two boxes of Sanval, two of Lekotam, two of Prazina, and two of Sanval...). They barely managed to save me in the hospital, and after staying for two weeks, I was discharged with a prescription for Leponex and a final diagnosis of F20-shiza paranoid schizophrenia. I've cycled through a ton of medications; here's a list of some:
SANVAL
ZONADIN
DORMICUM
ZOLOFT
FEVARIN
PROZAC
CIPRALEX
SEROXAT
COAXIL
LEKOTAM
NORMABEL
VALIUM
XANAX
LORSILAN
RIVOTRIL
ZYPREXA
LEPONEX
RISPOLEPT
SEROQUEL
PRAZINE
MODITEN
HALDOL
TOPAMAX
TEGRETOL
LORSILAN
XANAX SR
Seroquel and Moditen are used against psychosis, Cipralex helps lift your mood, Prazina is for calming down, and Topamax works to stabilize your mood.
So, people keep telling me I should slow down and actually eat a decent meal, but I’ve always been pretty stubborn about my goals...
Anyway, back when I was on this kick two years ago, I dropped 70 pounds in a single month. It all stayed off until this summer when I started taking Zyprexa.
So, I jumped into Herbalife because my cousin is a distributor, plus I saw some good things being said about it on here. I actually gave the Herbalife and Zone combo a shot, following that advice from MacGregor. And hey, don't go blaming him—that was totally on me. His posts just seemed legit, so I decided to try it. Honestly though, the Zone thing was way too much work for me, so I ended up just surviving on an apple a day.
What’s your experience been like with rapid weight loss? Right now, I’m doing this Herbalife thing where I just have two shakes a day and an apple. I’ve already dropped 17 pounds in a single week. I know, I know—it sounds totally unhealthy, but still...
Does anyone here deal with F20-shiza or any other psychotic disorders? Do you know people living with this? Generally speaking, what’s your take on this illness? Please, feel free to share anything related to the topic.
I was recently diagnosed with F20-shiza. I'm 17 and currently taking Seroquel, Cipralex, Moditen, Prazine, and Topamax.
