Bone Marrow Donation in Health ·
I'm thinking about heading over to the Mayo Clinic to sign up as a donor, but I've got some other medical stuff to sort out first. Looks like I won't be getting there for at least a month into next year.
I’m curious—don't tell me none of you have ever dealt with doctors essentially shaking you down for cash (either directly or through the back door) just to get a shred of respect or decent medical care.
First off, my bad, Lahore.

hats off to the doctors.

I’m quoting myself here just to show this future doctor that I’m not generalizing—though a little context goes a long way.
I hate it when people twist my words or add things they didn't say.

Look, there are decent doctors out there who are genuinely kind souls; I’ve met plenty in my life. But there are far too many who are the exact opposite.
I have doctors in my family, so I know how the industry works, and an error like this is a massive failure. That’s not just layman talk; that's coming from someone who knows the field.
I feel terrible for the guy and his family. I can't even imagine what they're going through. I hope nobody else ever has to deal with a situation like this.
Lahore, just shut this down already
Oh yeah, sure, cover his back. Why bother holding a doctor accountable if they screw up?

Honestly, you're coming off as the biggest hypocrite in this whole thread.

Look, honey, I really hope you don't end up in the medical field one day. Your mindset is terrifying.
Who even said anything about killing him!?

You clearly missed the entire point of the story and don't understand half the words being used, but hey, I guess I shouldn't expect much from you. 🙄

It’s a total waste of time arguing with someone who isn't even fully formed yet and thinks they're a future doctor. ☕
Anyone can screw up. But you have to own the consequences, which is something we rarely see happening around here.

Exactly. They mess something up on a patient, and suddenly nobody is responsible. It’s always been fascinating to me. You get these medical review boards where the doctors investigating the error are buddies with the ones who actually caused it—of course they're going to cover for each other. There’s just no such thing as justice in this system.
I hate to disappoint you, but it’s not because you’re studying medicine that I think you're conceited—it’s your attitude.
Look, I don't have an issue with medical professionals in general. There's a massive difference between having a problem with doctors and having a problem with doctors who are incompetent. Don't twist my words. 🙄

I'm not bitter; I'm just pissed off when I see people being this lazy with their jobs. That's all. Nobody is forcing you to be there. If you aren't up to the task, find a different career. Trust me, they're out there.
Oh, sure. They just killed your brothers. That’s all doctors do. Your brothers were perfectly fine until those doctors decided to end them.

I assume you're just another imaginary med student.

Yeah, they were basically infants when they were killed. And no, they didn't have health issues before that. If you think this is some big joke, I feel incredibly sorry for you.
Honestly, I think living as someone as heartless as you are is the worst punishment you could ever face.

You act like the rule is that doctors just want money. You're sick.
Well, if they only wanted cash, they wouldn't bother with medical school. The grind isn't worth the tiny paycheck unless there's more to it. But why am I even explaining this? I won't bother.

Look, honey, the reality in this country is that if you pay up, you get better service. I'm not saying it's always true, but in most cases, it is. Believe what you want. Call me sick all you like; the truth remains the truth.
Hats off to the actual doctors out there.👍
Look, I lost two brothers because of incompetent doctors. So, I’m asking you—is this just some "routine error" that happens all the time?

I wouldn't wish what we went through on anyone.
Unfortunately, my experience with the medical field has been nothing but bad. It feels like everyone is just out for a paycheck.

I honestly couldn't care less about med students. As for the ones who actually intend to honor their oath? God bless them. As for the rest? They deserve whatever comes their way.👎
I don't even want to start listing my encounters and experiences with doctors. My mom was on disability leave for three years before finally transitioning to permanent disability, and I know exactly what we went through with them. Total crooks. Just hand over the cash and suddenly everything is fine—you get whatever treatment you want. Of course, all of that comes with "connections" that are more than useful. That’s why I’d much rather go to a private clinic and pay upfront than deal with the public system where you still have to grease palms just to get some basic humanity. Unfortunately, surgeries can't be done in private clinics yet, but once that changes, we are getting far away from these 👎

Doctors like this wouldn't last a day in their own profession.
I wonder how they'd act if this happened to their own kid, though that's hard to imagine when a top-tier specialist would actually give their own child the attention they deserve.

My old friend Mirna doesn't need it for birth control—she needs it for her health. She’s dealing with terrible bleeding and wants to know if anyone has experience with this or if there are side effects. 🙄
We knew about the price, but we had no clue it would actually make the list. Is that a sure thing or just speculation?

Ladies, I need your input. My mom needs it.
Her gynecologist suggested she get a Mirena IUD to manage heavy bleeding since she’s entering perimenopause and isn't sure how to handle it.
She saw a second doctor who told her it wasn't time for that yet. If anyone has experience with this, we'd appreciate the insight.😘
