It’s just a relentless barrage of shock value: violence, vulgarity, the darkest corners of New York City, lost youth, drugs, sex, crime, blood, nudity, the mob, raw sexuality, hypocrisy, fear, authority, pure chaos, anarchy, assault, cruelty, heartlessness, power, intellect, stupidity, and sheer primitivism...
For me, the most powerful moment in the entire movie—that assault scene!
