Sure, it would deal a heavy blow to organized crime, but it would also make everything way too easy to get your hands on. Give it enough time and it might even become as socially acceptable as grabbing a beer or lighting up a cigarette. We’d almost certainly see more fatalities too—not necessarily because the stuff is low-quality, but simply because so many more people would be using it. And let's be real, even high-quality drugs aren't exactly great for your health...

I'm not exactly saying we should just legalize everything, regulate it, and call it a day, you know? I guess I just dream about a world where if someone decides to get hooked, they actually end up footing their own bill for rehab if they care enough to seek it out. That's all.

It’s true that when you look at the death toll, these two are clearly ahead of the curve regarding drug-related issues. But honestly? I wonder if things would even be this bad if drugs were legal—if they were marketed just like Budweiser or Miller Lite. Who knows.

What I’m trying to get at is that personal responsibility should be the bottom line. If you want to use drugs, go ahead and do it in moderation; it doesn't bother me one bit. But once you cross that line into addiction, you should be footing your own bill. That’s my point. If I’m staying clean and skipping the booze, why should my tax dollars go toward someone else's rehab?

Look, I don't think it's ever justified to pick up the tab for people with drinking problems. In my book, everyone should be responsible for their own habits. If someone else wants to be generous and pay for them, that's their business, but I don't see why I should have to step in.

So, are you suggesting that because alcohol is considered one of the most destructive substances out there, it somehow excuses addicts from their responsibilities?

Honestly, who cares? Let them try whatever they want. Once the high wears off and reality hits, they’ll realize exactly what they've gotten themselves into. If you ask me, I'd just shut down all those state-funded rehab centers entirely. You want help? Pay up or deal with the consequences. It’s a simple equation: pay for your treatment or face the music. At least then we'd have one less addict on the taxpayer's dime. You made your bed, now you lie in it.

Man, if you just feast from 11 PM straight through to 3 AM, everything's going to be pure indulgence. Just watch how fast you'll gain weight.😁
