Anaphylactic reaction in Health ·
Look, I wouldn't be quite so quick to generalize about all doctors, because at some point down the road, you might find yourself needing to rely on a colleague who could actually save your life, I guess.

I wouldn't touch that medication with a ten-foot pole if I were you; honestly, it might be better to just call your doctor and walk them through exactly what’s happening. It sounds like you're having some kind of reaction to the oral penicillin, and since that could potentially be pretty dangerous, it's probably worth being cautious.

I wasn't quite sure where to go with this question, so I figured I'd just ask here... the label on my antibiotics says that anyone who has ever had an anaphylactic reaction to penicillin shouldn't take them, and since I actually am allergic to penicillin, I guess I'm feeling a bit stuck.

So, here’s the plan—I think I’ll just observe what the ladies over at the Bodybuilding house are up to and try to mimic them.
I suppose I should start by saying there’s really no need to panic, since this whole thing is just about your platelet count

It basically happens when your platelets are being cleared from your bloodstream faster than your bone marrow can step up and replace them.

The good news is that the condition is manageable. I imagine your doctor has already run all the necessary labs and probably put you on Pronizon, which should ideally get things back on track within about a month if you stay consistent with it. You’ll definitely want to circle back with your physician after that, though, because you'll need regular blood work to keep an eye on those fluctuations.

I don't mean to alarm you, but I actually wanted to offer a bit of encouragement instead—in life-threatening situations, medical teams can handle things quite easily with a quick blood transfusion or even, I think they call it in certain parts of the country, a splenectomy.

If I were in your shoes, my advice would be to stick strictly to whatever medication your doctor prescribed and try to load up on organic, pesticide-free raspberries and blueberries. If you're able to afford it, maybe even spend some time out in the mountains while you continue your treatment.

Wishing you all the best

Has your doctor ever tried adding Remeron to your regimen? It’s honestly such a solid medication; I've noticed it can really start making a difference in how you carry yourself within just the first week. You might find you actually have some drive again, or just feel a bit more active and engaged with life...
I’d suggest having a real conversation with your doctor about it, though, and please don't go changing up your meds on your own. Some of these treatments take quite a while to really kick in—I mean, we aren't talking days, sometimes it takes years for things to settle

And honestly, try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Getting out into nature is probably the best supplement to whatever your doctor has prescribed

Sometimes, if you're struggling with insomnia, taking 1 mg of Xanax before bed can help

You don't really need to send me private messages.

The whole point of this forum is to provide support for everyone who needs it, so let's just keep things here.

Maybe just let me know how I can help out while you're waiting to see a doctor.

I guess it might be helpful to know if you've already reached out to a physician about what you're going through; if you have, did they give you a specific diagnosis? It also helps to know if there's any history of similar issues in your family, or if you've been dealing with headaches—and if so, how often they tend to show up.

If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know. I guess I’m happy to lend a hand before you end up finding someone else
