If they field a weakened lineup against Liverpool, SPFC is a lock for the win. They haven't looked particularly sharp against teams like Al-Ittihad lately... might actually consider hitting the sportsbook for once after all this time. 😁
hm, from what I recall, FIFA launched that intercontinental championship, but it was still branded as the Toyota Cup every year—likely because Toyota sponsors both tournaments or they eventually merged. I couldn't say for sure.
Wait, isn't that the World Club Championship now? Is the Toyota Cup gone for good? All I see is this Europe vs. South America thing... I've been a bit out of the loop lately; life's just been keeping me too busy.
What a joke. I’m stuck with this useless satellite dish where nothing works except the local news and some mindless reality shows. I can't even pick up the major networks or any decent sports coverage. Honestly, I can't wait to move next month so I can finally actually watch a game on TV.
It’s definitely happening. That guy Vela was talking nonsense yesterday, claiming they were actually biting on his feints, but this deal is a done deal. They secured him ten months ago; I just can't recall if they signed him as a straight starter or if he was already under contract but left to finish out the season elsewhere... Regardless, Raul is heading to Liverpool or wherever else because he’s squeezed out of the rotation. Personally, I’d rather see Owen get the nod, but the man hasn't found the back of the net ten times in the last two years. He's completely lost his edge in the k

I suspect the players have a choice, but they play the qualifiers just to build chemistry within the squad.

Who’s actually tuning in?
With a Brazil lineup like 👍 , having Ronaldinho on the pitch will be something else.
Strangely enough, I find myself rooting for Paraguay here; they’ve been my favorite national team since the '98 World Cup.
LET'S GO PARAGUAY!! 👋 The only frustrating part is that I can't help but love Brazil 😁. If this were Argentina vs. Paraguay, I’d be going absolutely wild for them.😁
I feel the same way about Paraguay; after the US and Brazil, they're my top choice, mostly because of '98 and one man, Carlos Alberto Gamarra.
For us, Ivić was the best, while Ćiro only earned his third-place spot. Looking abroad, Mourinho currently seems like the top choice. From the rest, I'd pick Capello, Luxembourg, Bianchi, and Cruyff. Capello won massive amounts of silverware across several different clubs. Luxembourg stands out because their success and methodology were truly unique on a global scale. Bianchi succeeded with Boca Juniors—a club I can't stand—winning multiple South American championships. Then there's Cruyff; during his tenure at FC Barcelona, they played the most beautiful football in Europe, comparable only to the samba dance of the Brazilian national team, all while securing several trophies.

They play well—beautiful, attacking football which I appreciate—but their main issue is a thin bench.
As for the game itself,
Ronaldinho was brilliant for FC Barcelona; Samuel Eto'o and Rafael Márquez were solid too.
For Real Madrid, Ronaldo Nazário was the standout, followed by Iker Casillas, Christian Gravesen, and David Beckham; Michael Owen and Zizi were decent enough.
The referee lacked objectivity. He missed an obvious penalty caused by Roberto Carlos when he went in hard on Maxi López, and that sliding tackle near the edge of the box on Ronaldinho was highly questionable. There were several other mistakes too, though they escape me now.
I agree with everything, except regarding Zinedine Zidane. To me, he looked disinterested today; he kept losing possession like he was half-asleep. He even had a chance to set up Ronaldo one-on-one, but he just fumbled it, acting as if he were blind to the fact that the player was standing there alone with Puyol... Gravesen was right on Ronaldo's heels immediately; damn, the man runs everywhere like a machine, he just didn't stay back to defend. Beckham was surprisingly good—excellent, actually. As for FC Barcelona, Ronaldinho spent sixty minutes sleepwalking before finally waking up in the last half hour. Samuel Eto'o was good, and Rafael Márquez was outstanding.
Ronaldinho is such an anomaly. He was born in a city where you almost never see a Black person or someone of mixed heritage; it's 99.9% white. Personally, I haven't seen a single person like him there.

It’s funny how people split into Real Madrid or FC Barcelona camps, even though most fans actually appreciate both. Most folks consider Ronaldo Nazário to be the greatest, much like they worship Pelé, especially down in Rio. He’s actually a decent guy; everyone says he hasn't changed since he was a kid. He recently used his wealth to build a massive multi-sport academy in the underprivileged neighborhood where he grew up. He's poured a lot of money into various charitable projects and helps just about everyone. Some of my wife's friends actually know him personally—they say he's a true gentleman. Unlike certain snobs like Romário and Edmundo. My wife follows her team just like most Americans do, and her family is always at each other's throats whenever there's a derby. The old man backs Club América, her mother is all about Flamengo, the grandfather supports Vasco da Gama, and the grandma is a Fluminense fan... and those clubs absolutely despise one another. It’s like having a family where each of the four members supports a different side of the rivalry—like if everyone in your house picked Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, or RCD Espanyol. 😁
I love São Paulo just as much as I love Flamengo, but I probably shouldn't say that out loud unless I'm looking for trouble, haha... Just kidding. 😁
This game is incredible. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen quality like this. If they maintain this level of play in the second half, we could be looking at a lot more goals.
It certainly does work; both the younger crowd and the older generation are interested. I know a guy from the Netherlands who’s lived here for a few years; in a final moment of impulse, he bought a house out in a tiny rural area with maybe four other homes. He renovated everything, and since deer and other wildlife roam free around there, the vibe is perfect. Business is steady—people are constantly dropping by, including Americans, Japanese, and various Europeans. Mostly foreigners, really. It definitely pays off if you execute the concept properly.
If only he wasn't at Real Madrid... I was thinking the Robinho - Ronaldo duo would actually satisfy me, but since we're talking about "anywhere but Real Madrid," let him stay at Osasuna. I can't stand Real Madrid... read that with a hint of irony.
