James Watson84 said:I’m inclined to agree. We’re looking at vasovagal syncope here. It isn't exactly a disease in the traditional sense, but rather an oversensitivity—mediated by the nucleus in the brainstem—of the Vagus nerve to specific triggers like heat, hunger, or stress, which ultimately leads to a brief loss of consciousness. Since the Vagus nerve acts as the counterbalance to the sympathetic nervous system, it causes blood vessels to dilate and the heart rate to drop, resulting in a sudden dip in blood pressure that briefly starves the brain of oxygen and energy. This is usually preceded by a fleeting sense of weakness, lightheadedness, or nausea. Because this can be a recurring issue, one really ought to avoid the typical triggers—crowded spaces or stifling environments—while ensuring they stay hydrated and never skip breakfast. The real danger lies in the fact that these episodes happen while standing or sitting; if you don't catch the warning signs, you face a potentially painful and dangerous fall. If you witness someone going down, the protocol is to lay them flat and elevate their legs to boost venous return to the heart, rather than rushing to pull them back onto their feet immediately.
Thnx taj😘 So, does this mean I'm stuck with this for the rest of my life, or what?
I had a checkup with my doctor yesterday, and she wasn't thrilled about my blood pressure sitting at 95/50. I went in for some blood work this morning so we can actually get to the bottom of things, though she seemed quite concerned; she even mentioned potentially heading to Mayo Clinic if my platelet count isn't where it should be, although her money is currently on blood pressure issues, iron deficiency, or maybe my blood sugar. I’ll have the results tomorrow, so we shall see.😲
I had a sudden blackout today. I hopped on a bus this morning—it was packed, easily a thousand people—and within minutes, the air felt incredibly heavy, like I just couldn't catch my breath. I decided to hop off at the next stop to get some air and clear my head, but as I was stepping off, everything just went black. I hit the ground hard, completely out of it. Some kind woman helped me up and gave me some water, and then I called my husband to come pick me up. This isn't even the first time; the last time this happened was last winter under identical circumstances—just an overcrowded bus and zero oxygen. To make matters worse, I’ve been waking up feeling like I’ve been through a physical brawl for months now; I can't seem to get any decent sleep, though I did manage to crash for twelve hours straight last night. I'm constantly thirsty, too, and frankly, I have no idea what is going on with my body. A few months back, it turned out my iron levels were bottoming out, and while the supplements helped, I still feel utterly depleted. What should I be doing here? I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon. Has anyone else dealt with anything remotely similar? My blood pressure is usually perfectly fine...

It'll turn out fine.🙂 Giving birth carries a certain weight and purpose to it, whereas getting your teeth pulled doesn't really have much depth. Sure, it solves a problem, but labor is a completely different beast altogether.
Lisa Cooper37 said:Everything is going to be fine!! They’ll just numb the area, extract the tooth, and throw a few stitches in there for good measure!!! Just stick to soft foods—think pudding or lukewarm soup. In a couple of days, you'll head back to get the stitches out and it'll all be behind you!!! You might feel a little sting once the local anesthetic wears off, but if you can't handle that, just take an Advil!!! The shot itself is the worst part. It's really nothing to worry about!! Grab a drink on me! Just kidding."
I suppose I should have anticipated this reaction. I do enjoy a good shot of Jägermeister, so perhaps I thought it might provide some much-needed courage.🙂 Honestly, my fear of the dentist is quite intense; it’s embarrassing to admit that I wasn't nearly this terrified when I was in labor. Good grief.
Lisa Cooper37 said:So you still have an eighth tooth in there and need surgery then!!!! You'll be in experienced hands over there!!!! You could even try going to that new hospital!!!!!!!
It’s definitely still in there; I already posted about this in the dental thread. First the tooth cracked, then we tried to fix it, and now gangrene has set in, so it has to come out. I just got off the phone with a friend who told me the procedure isn't actually a huge deal, though it might hurt later on, and I'll probably end up with a couple of stitches and all that. She mentioned the staff there are pros and handle these things regularly—apparently, a med student might observe, but they won't be the ones performing the actual work. Honestly, I'm pretty terrified.😢
Lisa Cooper37 said:If you can't afford private care, then just go to them!!!!!!!!!!! Just be careful about who actually ends up pulling your teeth!!🤣 If they realize things are getting complicated, they might hand it off to a dental student, or if it's serious, someone a bit more experienced will step in!!!! From what I've seen, the experience there is a total coin flip! Some people swear by it, while others swear they're never going back!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, my own dentist actually wanted to handle it herself initially, but since the case is a bit complex, she didn't feel comfortable proceeding and referred me over there instead.

We were actually holding out hope that he might be able to drain that fluid buildup again, thinking it might give her some semblance of relief. Instead, the doctor told us that the fluid isn't even the main issue anymore; the tumor has progressed significantly, spreading into the brainstem and the other hemisphere. I had this sinking feeling in my gut all along, which made sense in hindsight, but hearing it out loud still hits like a physical blow. I’m sitting here crying, feeling completely useless and overwhelmed by how much I want to help her. It feels like my hope is slowly flickering out, and she’s my last anchor. Oh, my sweet Mom, we had so many more years left to share together.🙂 It's a damn shame

I did a little reading on the subject and it really freaked me out. It was uncomfortable, sure, but from what I can gather, there could be a million different reasons for it. So, thanks a lot.
A buddy of mine was diagnosed with a tumor once. He’s perfectly fine today, but he went through hell. Just go get checked out; it won't cost you a thing.😘

😘 P.S. I’m certain that everything feels a little easier for her when she's by your side, and that she holds an immense amount of pride in you.
Maria Barrett2 said:Hey, quick question... I was on Cilest for a while and then switched over to Yasmin. I took my usual seven-day break before starting the new pack, but then I read somewhere that you aren't actually supposed to have a gap when switching birth control brands—that you should just start the new ones immediately without any days off. So... does anyone here have any experience with this?
On another note, I feel like I’ve been gaining quite a bit of weight since starting Yasmin. Should I just stop taking it and go back to Cilest? I'd appreciate some help. My gynecologist is insisting that Yasmin is the best option and says I should just stick with it since I've already started. Thanks.
I don't quite follow. You finish your last cycle, take your standard break, and then start the new brand just like you would with the old one. That's exactly what I did, following my doctor's orders, and everything turned out fine. In my case, it was the same type of pill, and I eventually went back to Cilest because they suit me better.
Sam Hall15 said:hm... for a migraine, you really need to have additional symptoms... and if only Motrin helps, have you tried all the other painkillers? If not, how can you be sure? 😁
Believe me, I've tried them all; I was practically losing my mind until the Motrin finally allowed me to drift back toward some semblance of normalcy.
Here’s the situation... I’ve been dealing with this relentless pain for days. It’s my head, my ears, my sinuses, my teeth—basically everything from my forehead to my jaw. At this rate, even my eyelashes might start aching. I haven't been caught in a storm, I haven't fallen, I haven't hit my head, and I don't even have a cold. It’s just that every single day around noon, everything starts falling apart, and the only thing keeping me from throwing my head against the wall in pure frustration is Motrin. My doctor insists it’s just a common cold and that it’ll pass😕 ......... What should I do?
Honestly, I feel like I’ve been run over by a semi-truck every single morning, and quite frankly, getting any decent sleep or actual rest feels like an impossible task at this point. As for the state of my nerves after all this, I won't even 👎
Angela Wright said:I’m inclined to agree. Even if there's some truth to the rumors, I can't wrap my head around why they’re dragging their feet on an official announcement just to let hearsay circulate like this. Honestly, if a man has passed away, he has passed away. He was—or remains—one of the more prominent figures in the American political landscape. This supposed delay in releasing information feels less like standard procedure and more like we're dealing with some sort of dictator where they have to double-check everything to prevent a coup... The whole situation is quite distasteful, as someone of his stature deserves better than having such news dissected on a random internet forum.
Zaro, what kind of politician is this, always waiting to release news until certain interests or business deals are settled? I know cases where presidents pass away and there's a delay of a few days just because of protocol and all that nonsense.
