Does anyone know someone who does stuff like this? http://lh3.ggpht.com/_TKLYTmaiMLY/Ss...gdalena078.jpg (Or is this something you can just get made anywhere?)
Sadly, I don't have any.😢 We told the photographer strictly no food or plate shots, and honestly, in all the chaos, I totally blanked on the cupcakes, damn.
You can order cupcakes anywhere these days—just keep in mind the price climbs fast depending on the flavors and how fancy they look. 😉🙂

And how much did the wedding cake cost?
Btw—I love your cake! 😉
I think hers was about $28....
Wedding cake prices really depend on the flavors and how many guests you have. If you go with three layers using things like Black Forest, White Forest, and some third thing I can't remember because I'm clearly not a baker 😵 it works out to maybe $15 per person—that's for a "standard" wedding cake, like three tiers for 100 people. Your best bet is just to shoot her an email http://slastice-kod-katice.com/ you'll find all the contact info there. 🙂
Thanks. 🙂 Here's the kicker, though: that was actually a fake cake. 😬Just sponge cake and frosting. I served cupcakes on the plates instead. Basically, three different flavors to represent the three layers of the one we cut—like vanilla bean, Black Forest... 🤔kill me if I'm wrong on the third one, I'm not exactly a pro baker, I just know what tastes good. 😬The decor turned out great. Each flavor had its own little vibe, and honestly, everyone loved them. Highly recommend. 🙂
Check out our wedding cake. 😍 The whole spread—cake and sweets—came from Katie's at that Hershey's shop in Small Town, USA. Right now, they’ve got a deal on wedding treats for just $9 a pound. Everyone absolutely loved them, so if you ladies are looking for something sweet, definitely give them a shot. I can't recommend them enough. 🙂
Jesse Hughes2 said:Well, I could have guessed that might be the case... It isn't about being cheap, it's just that I don't see the point in paying $30/lb for dessert if I can find a better deal elsewhere. In my experience with weddings, people only eat a tiny amount of sweets, and there's always leftovers regardless of how gourmet they are. So, does anyone have recommendations for delicious desserts that won't break the bank?
I pay $23 /lb for homemade ones—personally, I think they're delicious, and they're a legitimate local business... Not trying to sound like a walking advertisement here, though—if you want the details, just shoot me a DM.🙂

Cech 😍 Feels super retro to me... 😍 If you swapped that white ribbon for a black or dark brown one—man, that would be moody. 🙏
feralmoose32 said:I swear, I am just so indecisive about absolutely everything... even when it comes to picking out cakes and pastries 😢
I totally feel you... Oh man, I really do. 😢
Morgan Stewart50 said:@ Chris Sanchez11 - I am absolutely voting for that first one, the modern version! It is just wild! Even with those little hearts included! 😁😍
Oof... I love it too—mostly because it isn't cookie-cutter. But then again, I’m trying to keep the whole wedding vibe as elegant and classic as possible... in an unconventional way. My dress is black and white and I’ve got a black hat, while my guy is rocking a white hat—we're going for that 😍Bonnie & Clyde look. It’s driving me nuts, though, trying to make everything fit into just two colors.😠
Finally found something I’m actually vibing with—now the struggle is deciding which one. 🙄
The first one is stunning because it’s got such a unique look 😍—though the colors won't be exact, I'm thinking a sleek black and white combo instead. And let's ditch the glitter entirely; that's just not my thing. http://www.cakethat.com.au/bowe%20001t.jpg
Then there's this one. It’s a total classic, maybe even a little basic, but man... it's gorgeous.
feralmoose32 said:Chris Sanchez11 - They’re all lovely, really, but I feel like they’re missing a certain... something. Then again, I can't stand it when they're overdone, but these? These feel just a little too plain for my taste...
You know what actually stresses me out? I just want this custom piece to turn out exactly as perfect as it looks in the pictures—you know, that flawless vision—and I'm honestly terrified that nobody is going to nail it quite right... I have such a specific idea of perfection in my head... Honestly, looking at photos from girls online, I've barely seen anyone who actually gets it right, mostly because I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist about these things...
Exactly! I want flawless edges! Like, perfectly smooth—sharp corners, everything. My anxiety is kicking in thinking it won't turn out that way, even though a friend is making it and she's guaranteed it'll be fine. Plus, I've seen her cakes before, so there really shouldn't be any reason to worry.
But honestly, I have no clue what the final result should actually look like. The ones I posted are pretty much what you described; they're okay and cute, but something's lacking... 😢
All I want is a simple, elegant cake without all the tacky stuff. :blue_flower: Guess I'm just being way too picky...🙄
Look, Mickey Mouse and Gabrielle—it honestly doesn't matter. 🙂 I actually found it pretty funny how we met. It was at some random event hosted by my wedding maid of honor while I was scouting for wedding cakes and desserts. 🤣 To be honest, I wasn't even sold on the candy shop at first—mostly because her staff can be, well, ice-cold, to put it mildly. 😕 Here’s the scene: I head in to pick up some birthday treats for my guy and leave her $50 but she isn't just unfriendly, she actually gives me this look like "are you kidding me right now" when I ask about the different chocolate options. Okay, fine, everyone has bad days, but sorry if I'm leaving $50 I think I deserve a smile and a decent attitude in return. 🙄 Plus, after reading those reviews about the prices, I wasn't even considering her. 🤷 (Not counting my grandma, who keeps calling me to say the candy - perfect 😠 items from the shop are amazing) But honestly, I ended up liking the woman through our casual hangout.🙂 She walked me through how she makes her cakes, why the pricing is what it is, and basically answered every single question I had. As for the staff (which I didn't even bring up), man, I get it. From what I gathered, that's her biggest headache; with the job market being what it is right now, she's struggling to find reliable women to work for her. She started a website recently, so here it is if anyone wants to check it out. http://candy-at-kittys.com/ 🙂
P.S. We were laughing because I asked her, "Wait, your name is L... and your business is Candy at Kitty?!" She just told me rhyming works wonders. 🤣 Maybe Kitty is her mom or grandma. I'll have to ask. 🤷
Linda Ward312 said:That young lady you ran into isn't "the" Kate, because the owner doesn't actually work the counter at the shop. She's just the person working sales there. The real Kate has a son who's in his 30s, so I highly doubt she's some young thing 😉 but honestly, it doesn't really matter—if you love the sweets, go for it! I'm still torn between her and Tom & Ann. 😕
We actually met at my godmother's Christmas party. 😉
We’ve already got this massive dessert buffet set up with so much sugar that it feels ridiculous to buy even more stuff on top of the chocolate fountain (we've got three types of chocolate!), the chocolate hazelnut mousse, their pastries, and those fruit baskets—but every single 😁 is being stubborn about it. So, I’m just gonna grab a few pounds from Kate to keep the peace and keep everyone happy. 🙄 As for the cake, I'm not spending more than $600 on it—period. I'm drawing the line there. 😁 She lives right around the corner and she's great, so I won't bother looking anywhere else. 🙂
Kate knows because I told her myself. 😂 The woman got a little bummed out, and honestly... I didn't mean for you to take it personally. 🙂I totally get the whole budgeting thing. For me, it feels stupid to throw around tiny amounts for photographers or flowers and all that stuff. And I don't need a ton of extra cake either—just a few pounds so the cake doesn't end up being way too much. 🙂
Look, it’s all subjective—what’s pricey to one person is just standard to someone else. 🤷 Everyone’s going to grab treats from whoever they want. 🤷 Back in the day, I had neighbors selling homemade sweets for about $22 a pound. Honestly, I’d much rather just buy from Kate; I know she’s reliable, and her stuff actually tastes great. 🤷 As far as custom cakes go, I know hers are awesome and she’ll nail the exact look I’m going for. At first, we were thinking about getting a cake from Magnolia Bakery, but man, that would’ve cost us... Not that I’d mind paying the premium, but their designs feel a bit cookie-cutter and don't really let you customize. And I’m not even gonna argue about flavors. What hits the spot for me might not be your thing, and vice versa. 🤷
Just wanted to drop a few quick details about the sweets from Katica. 🥳 The price per pound $23 plus a wedding cake (Black Forest style) for 150 guests, 4 tiers - $167. ☕ My wife was honestly shocked when I told her how people on this forum keep claiming she's overpriced and listing all those crazy numbers. Based on what she showed me, her prices are actually pretty reasonable and the pastries are delicious. 🤷
Bottom line: Katica (who, by the way, isn't even an actual Katica 😉) is just a cool, down-to-earth woman with great, affordable treats. 😛 😁
Jacob White37 said:As I have previously stated, the cakes at the Capitol Center are quite simply the best...
😍 We shot them an email about the wedding catering, and they basically said they're down, but there's a catch: those two amazing cakes they make just don't have the structural integrity to be stacked into tiers. But hey, we haven't backed out yet, so if we decide to go for it, they can whip up as many individual slices as we need.
