I mean, what was even the logic there? Like, why would they even bother asking me all those questions just to close an account that had been totally dormant for ages... seriously, what's the point?

I mean, seriously, can't the government and the bank just... I don't know, sync up? Like, shouldn't they be able to just cross-reference everything and see if I have my US citizenship, what my visa status is, and who I’m actually paying taxes to without all this extra back-and-forth?

And honestly—since both Sarah Morris57 and I use the exact same bank, and we actually took out a joint loan together to fix up our place—it’s not like they're in the dark! I already updated my last name to his through them, so they should totally be aware of our marital status and who's living under the same roof... right?
(Hmm, maybe that's why they didn't even bother asking him about it in the first place? 😵)

So, Sarah Morris57 tells me he actually went (for something else entirely, obviously) and she grilled him with questions—but only three of them! And get this, they were just the same old things everyone’s been talking about, specifically stuff regarding an American visa. They didn't even bother asking about me or anything else...

So, I ended up not going—I just didn't make it in time, plus they haven't even bothered calling me back these last couple of weeks...
Jose Diaz3 said:Interesting. I find the people you're describing quite curious. To be honest, I’ve never encountered comments like that. No one tries to lecture me. No one talks nonsense. And certainly, no one threatens me with anything regarding my family.

The absolute peak of stupidity I encounter is just strangers asking, "What are you going to do with Bella once the baby arrives?" That's it.

Perhaps there aren't any condescending remarks because they know I'd shut them down instantly if they tried. Who knows. 🤔

So, MM is selling the car—we actually have two right now and one had to go, but he's letting the other one slide because it's way more sporty... plus it's smaller, so trying to cram two dogs AND a car seat in there would just be a total circus!
Some guy actually had the nerve to suggest he should just get rid of the dog so the car fits better. Ugh! He wanted to write back such a nasty reply, but honestly? He just reported him for being off-topic instead, and the mods scrubbed the comment. 😬
Jonathan Patel42 said:So, ladies, I was wondering if anyone else deals with this little quirk of mine. I actually still have these pair of jeans sitting in my closet that are right at the limit of fitting, but they aren't even maternity jeans—they’re just regular ones. And honestly, I can still pull them on without feeling any squeeze at all. Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, she’s so lucky to have kept her figure," but that isn't really the story here. It turns out my mother bought them for me, maybe two or three sizes up from what I usually wear, back from a time before I was pregnant. She does this quite often, actually; she buys me so many things that are significantly larger than what she wears herself. I mean, hello? It makes me look like I’m drowning in fabric, but in her mind, she thinks it’s perfectly fine.........

The other day, a woman approached me to ask when my due date was and if I was still working. I told her that I had actually stopped working—since she knows how much my job demands of me—and then she hit me with this comment. She looked to be about 45 or 46, and she said, "You know, back in our day, we worked right up until the very moment we went into labor!"
I honestly can't help but think about how incredibly difficult things must have been back then.................
And strangely enough, I haven't heard a single mindless or insensitive comment from a man yet; it seems to be almost exclusively the women who say these things...

They’re all just sitting there assuming they'll get shut down, so they don't even dare to open their mouths. 😬
If only ladies were actually that bold for once, right? 😁
Men, sometimes they really do turn into total girlies—honestly, even Sarah Morris57 knows more about her coworkers' pregnancies than I do at this point! But hey, they actually drop some pretty solid advice every now and then, and you can definitely find some useful gems in the chatter. 🤣

He’s been clued in for a long time now that he shouldn't be blabbing about stuff he wouldn't say himself if the roles were reversed, and from what I can tell, he's playing it safe...
If I ever catch him letting his mouth run too far, let me tell you, he'll be wishing he was back in labor instead of having a relaxing Sunday off! 🙂
Ugh, honestly, I just can't be bothered to sit through that—I’ve got way more important things to do with my life, even if that just means sitting on the couch watching my cats try to hunt flies...
Justin Rivera17 said:luxemburg - that’s exactly what this thread is for. :-)

Look, if you ask me, you should start practicing—specifically, how to handle people being condescending. The next time someone tries to lecture you or act like they know better, just hit them with a calm, deadpan: "So what?" or "Hey, we're all different, right?" Honestly, I just want to actually enjoy my food without feeling like I'm gonna barf... luckily, everyone's wired differently, I guess...

Just try to stick to healthy, varied meals. I know it feels like a massive uphill battle right now, but seriously, the nausea will pass.

A buddy of mine told me the other day that I look great, but then he totally panicked, thinking I was about to blow up because I started looking like a complete wreck for a minute there... This same genius told his wife he doesn't get why they're even deciding on the baby's name together—he claims when *he* has kids, *he's* the one picking the names, because that's just how it's done in The Family.

Honestly, I have no idea how he's still single, especially with an attitude like that.

Ugh, whatever, that trick didn't even work with my family when we were talking about other stuff.
With the really stubborn ones, I just cut them off—I tell them straight up that it's none of their business or that I don't want to hear it because I didn't ask for their opinion!

And now, with all these ridiculous horror stories people are telling about giving birth... I've decided I'm going to be super direct, even if it comes off as rude. Honestly, I'm just over it! It's better if they get worked up instead of me—and I'm the one who's pregnant and wasn't even the one bringing this stuff up in the first place!

Today, I actually had to scrub a post from my own husband's Meta wall... he posted something about how organs shift around during pregnancy.
I know he meant well—he just finds that kind of stuff fascinating—but I really don't care about that right now, and more importantly, I don't want to encourage anyone else. If they see he can post it, they'll think they can too!
So, let them see that even he gets the delete button... maybe then they'll realize their posts will get nuked too if they try it. 🤣
It feels like every single time I turn around, someone’s asking if I’m scared of giving birth—and if I’m lucky, they immediately launch into a long-winded saga about their own labor experience or some horror story they heard from a friend at brunch.

Honestly? Giving birth isn't even my main concern! When I look at kids and parents out in the world, I'm way more stressed about the "terrible twos" phase, the whole school transition, the constant pressure to compare kids (and it's not just about money!), school violence, and then puberty... oh man, puberty. I was looking at these girls today attending their sister's First Communion, and they looked like they just rolled straight out of a club downtown—I mean, seriously, tiny little things dressed up in these ridiculous 6-inch heels and enough makeup to cover a house, when you can tell by their faces they're barely even in middle school yet. Plus there's a million other things...

As for the actual delivery... yeah, it’s probably not going to be a walk in the park. It’ll likely be awkward, painful, and messy afterward, sure, but at least it has a beginning and an end! It's a defined event, unlike everything else that follows, and once it's over, I'll be way too busy running around with a newborn to dwell on it.

We wanted a baby, and we're all going to navigate this wild ride together—the pregnancy, the birth, and the chaos after—but honestly, the actual birth feels like such a tiny slice of the whole journey. It's just funny how much some older ladies seem to love nothing more than trying to scare us half to death...
I’m literally sitting here inhaling a mushroom pizza right now—and I mean JUST mushrooms. Like, that's it!
Since I’m vegan, cheese and ham were already out of the question, but honestly, my diet has just been shrinking lately... I can't stand tomato sauce, and don't even get me started on oregano—it's a total no-go for me. I’d kill for some olives, but I'm too scared to try them...
Luckily, the folks at this local pizza joint totally get me, so they whipped this up with a few sympathetic looks tossed my way.

I mean, when it comes to those whole anti-money laundering checks, they aren't even looking at whether I'm married or not... totally irrelevant, right?

Something like that...
I'm pretty sure they're feeling the heat to get as many completed surveys back as possible, but man, this was just not okay.

Look, I seriously had to ask this lady over at Chase three different times just to get a straight answer out of her.
Most people would’ve just taken what she said the first time around—and honestly, I almost did—but then you realize she was totally dodging the point! She wasn't exactly lying, per se... she was just doing that thing where you dance around the truth to avoid being direct, you know?

So, basically, part of that info is actually required by federal law—it’s non-negotiable, you just have to fill it out. But the rest of it? That’s just for getting to know our clients better so they can pitch us specific credit cards, loans, or whatever... and in those cases, the customer totally gets to decide if they want to share that stuff with the bank or not.

I mean, I’m definitely going to politely ask them to let me know which questions are mandatory and which ones aren't.

And then there was that thing someone mentioned about being asked for his girlfriend's Social Security number...
Seriously, she can just deal with her own bank.
Since when is my legal obligation to hand over someone else's private info?

1) Do you hold any citizenship other than American?
2) Do you possess an American green card?
3) Are you a politically active individual?

Do I seriously have to answer stuff like this?

I honestly don't get why they even care about the last one—like, what's the point?...
I guess with the first two, they're just trying to gauge if I'm some kind of flight risk or something. 😬

So, do you actually have that part about the legal requirement in writing somewhere? Like, could you just drop that one specific sentence here? I was downtown earlier and they were spinning it one way, but I really want to know exactly what they’re required to do—just so I know where the line is drawn before things get weird...

So, get this—I just got a call telling me I need to swing by my local Bank of America branch ASAP. Apparently, they’ve got some "legal obligation" or whatever, and they need me to drop in to update my info right away.
I’m actually kind of looking forward to it—mostly because I want to see exactly what they think they have the right to ask me... and more importantly, what I can totally just ignore...

So I was reading this article about some lady getting grilled at a service counter—and get this, I’m actually a clerk myself, so I totally get the vibe—but she said the cashier didn't even bother mentioning it was optional... instead, they just acted like it was some mandatory requirement!
It’s like, okay, fine, if you go to a place like Target, you can just say "no thanks" to the loyalty card and pay with cash without making life difficult, right? But when you're at a big bank like Chase, suddenly trying to withdraw your own damn money becomes this huge ordeal just because someone wants to harvest your data... it's wild how much more complicated things get when you just want privacy.
