Occult bleeding in Health ·
😕Ugh... honestly, I’m right there with you on the whole colon cancer fear. My gut has been acting up for a few years now—just constant issues. And look, I haven't gone in to get my stool checked yet, because let’s be real: if that test comes back positive, I think I might actually just drop dead right then and there. Between the back pain and some bladder stuff I've been dealing with lately, it's a lot. But anyway... if nothing else, I totally get why you're terrified. Even if it feels like a massive deal, I feel it too, maybe even more.

I’m trying to figure out if anyone else deals with this constant burning and aching sensation down there—it’s not even bleeding or anything, just this weird, unsettling feeling like everything is about to slip out 😲 and this massive, radiating pain everywhere else too.... I don't have any spotting or bleeding, but man, the stinging and soreness in my lower half is just brutal... I honestly can't tell what's causing the burn or why it hurts so much.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Look, I’ve got a situation that’s a bit more intense because, honestly, I’m a total panic attack sufferer and a massive hypochondriac. My biggest fear is getting hit with some terrifying diagnosis, so I end up avoiding the doctor altogether. About two years ago, things started getting pretty rough with what I think were hemorrhoids. It started with some kind of intestinal infection, and then I had this one instance of bloody stool—I mean, bright red, fresh blood... but after that, it hasn't happened again.
Since I deal with panic attacks, my gut gets incredibly cramped up all the time. And of course, following those recurring bathroom issues—even though my bowel movements are mostly normal now—I get this intense burning and pain. It feels like everything "down there" is hurting—my bladder, the whole area around my rear... it just feels completely inflamed.
When the pain hit a peak during one of those bad stretches, I finally saw my primary care physician. She gave me an exam and concluded it was just a single external hemorrhoid and that nothing else looked wrong. Before that, I actually went to my gynecologist because I couldn't figure out where the pain was coming from, and she told me everything was fine there too...

The thing is, whenever I'm stressed and dealing with those bowel movements, that stinging and burning sensation kicks in. Usually, I just slather on some baby cream or use chamomile compresses, and that typically settles things down within a day or two...

Anyway, I'm wondering how I can get my hands on these specific remedies that are sold over in Canada—is there any way to get them here through local pharmacies? There’s gotta be a way to find them in the States... I see ads for all sorts of meds around Pike Place Market, maybe there's a way to order through them?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Mark Kim31 said:Hey guys... my hemorrhoid just popped and started bleeding... I mean, the bleeding actually stopped, but the thing is still right there... (an external one). Honestly, I'm a little freaked out because my doctor isn't available right now... Is it actually normal for a hemorrhoid to burst like that, or am I in trouble? HELP! 😲 I'm using Ultraproct ointment for the hemorrhoids

Honestly, I think it might actually be a good thing if it pops—it probably takes some of that intense pressure away, so maybe it won't hurt as much now?😕

Lawrence Walker37 said:It was quick and done... hopefully for good this time. The whole procedure takes maybe 15-20 minutes—they just give you local anesthesia right there, and then the doctor gets to work. You definitely feel some discomfort while they're doing it, especially when they're clamping those arteries, but honestly, it’s totally manageable. Once it's over, there’s just a bit of lingering soreness, nothing crazy; a couple of Advil tablets usually does the trick.

So, for everyone out there staring at their hemorrhoids wondering what the hell to do—if you think THD might be the answer (just make sure you get checked out first to see if you're actually a candidate; I had Stage III myself)

God help us all.

If you don't mind sharing, which doctor did you go to for this?

Look, I've been dealing with some serious business down there for a while now—pretty sure it's hemorrhoids. So far, my GP told me it's just one external one, but I have a gut feeling I've got internal ones too. About a year ago, I noticed bright red blood in my stool, and lately, for the last 7 or 8 months, things have been stinging and aching like crazy after I go. Sometimes the pain just hits out of nowhere, and it feels like everything is inflamed. I've been trying everything—slathering on creams and washing constantly—until things settle down enough that my gas and IBS issues aren't flaring up. But once that happens, the whole area starts hurting again... Honestly, I'm terrified of the doctors, the exams, and the actual pain.😲
Living with Spondyloarthropathy in Health ·
I’ve been living with this diagnosis for about a decade now. I’ve got that positive RH... I can't even remember the full technical name. Plus, my rheumatoid factor is positive too... honestly, I could probably have any rheumatic disease under the sun, but they’re treating me for seronegative spondyloarthropathy. My first rheumatologist sent me to physical therapy—which was a total bust for me—and then I switched over to an immunologist at the Mayo Clinic... and then? Nothing. Just endless blood work, over and over again. I mean, sure, my labs look okay, and my last spinal scan didn't show any signs of active inflammation!
I’ve basically stopped obsessing over the illness (maybe that’s a bad move, who knows?), but I seriously don't have the bandwidth to go hopping around from one exercise session to another, and frankly, my desire to swallow a mountain of pills is pretty much zero right now.
What really gets to me are these constant aches all over—especially in my spine—but it feels more like connective tissue pain than actual bone pain. Sure, my bones ache here and there, but I don't deal with that stiffness or those textbook symptoms everyone talks about. I’m a carrier for the gene, so maybe I just have a mild version of the disease, but I’m not letting it win... screw that... I'm not backing down!🤣
I might end up seeing someone again soon, but I haven't a clue where to go. Maybe some private specialist, because if you ask me, I think I'm actually dealing with fibromyalgia... and that's the real culprit... always exhausted, my whole body hurts, anxiety, irritable bowel, panic attacks... it’s like when you’ve had a brutal workout and your entire body feels inflamed and tender. That’s why I’m leaning toward that being the main issue.
If those wild, unbearable pain flares ever catch me off guard, then yeah, I’ll take all these test results back to a rheumatologist or an immunologist.

Sophia Thompson93 said:You actually helped me out. Maybe it’s my bladder causing the stomach pain, but honestly, the hemorrhoids aren't even the main issue—they rarely flare up, but I’d rather just stay ahead of them with those suppositories. Thanks, everyone.

I think I’m dealing with almost the exact same nightmare as you. See, nothing is bleeding on my end, but sometimes when I’m on the toilet, I get this weird sensation like something is actually protruding—though I guess it slides back in afterward. I also deal with this constant, nagging pressure right at the anal area, just a super uncomfortable feeling. On top of that, I get frequent stomach pains; I’m pretty sure I have IBS or something, since I’ve been struggling with these random cramps and abdominal aches for 15 years now... so yeah, combining the two is basically a recipe for total misery. Plus, the constant gas is enough to drive anyone crazy, especially because it leaves things feeling pretty much like they're burning down there afterward. Basically... it sucks.🤷div>

Alex Moore62 said:I highly recommend Dr. Cavcic over at Sunce in Trnje—he’s super chill, and you’ll actually get a decent, informative conversation out of him, which is exactly what you need right now. I'm not entirely sure if he's seeing patients at their other clinic near Jarun, though.

Thanks... I already have two doctors on my shortlist, and now I'm adding this professor to the mix. I think someone else already posted something good about him too... anyway, I’m definitely going to schedule that exam... I've already gone to see my primary doctor for at least part of it, which is honestly a huge step for me—some people don't even bother doing that... so... just gotta pull together a little more nerve and do this. 🤷.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
No biggie. Honestly, my anxieties are basically just my daily reality at this point—I deal with them more or less successfully, though some days are definitely harder than others, but hey, it is what it is.
The thing is, I am absolutely terrified of this exam. It’s not even about the pain or discomfort—it's the "what if" factor. What if they find something else entirely besides just hemorrhoids?
I don't have those nasty purple bulges or anything; they're mostly skin-colored. I'm not bleeding, I go once a day, and my movements are pretty much normal size, but man, the constant aching, the burning, and that nagging sensation that something is just going to slip out of my rectum at any second... it's exhausting.
There is this relentless pressure there... I actually went to see my primary care doctor and she took a look. I mean, I assume she knows what she was doing while she was poking around, but she just said she saw one prolapsed hemorrhoid... now, whether my internal ones have migrated outside or what... I have no clue.
Bottom line: my fears are through the roof, the pain is constant, and I am a total nervous wreck.
I've been scrolling through all these private clinics, trying to figure out where to go... because I know I can't just ignore this forever.
So, yeah... fingers crossed I make it through this alive.

Alex Moore62 said:General practitioners definitely shouldn't be the final word here—you don't want to mislead someone when their whole recovery might hinge on seeing a specialist right away. Honestly, if you're spiraling this hard, just go get checked out ASAP. It'll save you from all this pointless dread and misery.

Personally, I think stressing out ahead of time is just bad business. You start dwelling on these nightmare scenarios that almost never actually happen, and before you know it, you've completely drained yourself. You end up making yourself sick just because the stress nukes your immune system. Not to sound too "woo-woo," but there's that whole idea about not "inviting" bad luck—if you dwell on the negative, you're basically manifesting it. You gotta keep the vibes positive to see positive results.
Same goes for obsessing over stuff that’s totally out of your hands—you know, things where you have zero control over the outcome. Why burn your energy on that?
I get it, though—easier said than done. 😉

I'm right there with you... everything is fine until we're talking about actual illness. See, I've been dealing with certain mental hurdles—anxiety, panic attacks, and pretty intense hypochondria—for about 20 years now. I've even sought treatment for it, but honestly, it hasn't been much help.
Here's the thing: if a person is rational—meaning they're mentally sound—then they can process things the way you're describing. But when you're battling an actual illness or one of those disorders I deal with, being "rational" becomes a massive uphill battle. Because at its core, the whole point of the sickness is that it occasionally makes you feel completely "irrational."
Man, I'd love to be part of your group of level-headed people, but... I guess that's just wishful thinking on my part.
But hey, look, you have to seek treatment... try every possible avenue and see every specialist available. Still, there's a protocol: you start with your primary care doctor, and then you move up the chain. I truly believe even general practitioners have more than enough "enviable" knowledge to handle specific issues; otherwise, their entire job wouldn't make any sense in the first place.

Alex Moore62 said:And why don't you just ask for a referral to a specialist or just go to a private clinic? This isn't something you play around with.

What I really want to know is if anyone here has actually gone through rubber band ligation. I haven't found anyone who’s written a full-blown post about it—just some random passing comments saying it's a nightmare.
On the flip side, my doctor keeps telling me it doesn't hurt at all, that you can function totally normally afterward, basically implying there's zero reason to call out of work. Honestly, I don't see why someone would lie about that. 😕

I am seriously not joking. I already saw my primary care doctor—she did the whole exam, the finger thing and all—and she's not some total moron who wouldn't notice what's going on... and yeah, I'm planning on seeing a specialist privately too. It's just that I'm a total panicker and a massive hypochondriac, which just adds layers of extra dread to everything... everyone is scared of doctors, but for people like me, it's a hundred times worse. But look, I shouldn't be spiraling here; there are other threads for the anxiety stuff, so I won't drag that out... but yeah, if you're asking if I'm absolutely terrified? Yes, I am.😲

Good grief, (honestly, my own glands under my armpits are acting up too😁), maybe you should just look into group therapy—I know some folks who dealt with hypochondria and that actually did the trick for them. It’ll definitely distract you from obsessing over the issues. I know two people who go regularly and they swear by it, say they absolutely love those sessions. Honestly, I'd probably go myself—if I wasn't totally broke.

So, if you don't mind, shoot me the doctor's name and their number... I'd seriously consider giving it a shot myself...

So, I gotta ask—what do your hemorrhoids actually look like?
Basically, I finally worked up the nerve last night to take a good look at my anal area, specifically where those lumps are. But here’s the thing—it’s not red, and there aren't any crazy veins popping out or anything. It just feels like these larger, subcutaneous swellings... you know, like big bumps under the skin rather than some open wound or something gross like that. And now? Now I am freaking out big time????
I always pictured hemorrhoids being these bright red growths, ugh, so who knows what on earth I'm dealing with here!!!!!!!!!!

Chloe Gomez6 said:Honestly, I get that weird sensation right in the middle too. Since I had my Bartholin gland removed earlier this year, I can never tell if it's lingering post-op discomfort or just some chemical reaction—it’s all kind of blurred together. And god, the neurosis and anxiety involved... I can only imagine how much you're spiraling😢. But look, if you actually go see a proctologist, it might turn out to be something else entirely. Not trying to freak you out here, just being real.😁

Heh... the thing is, I'm totally terrified that I've got some massive, life-altering issue going on... but then again, I already went back to my doctor and she basically told me there's nothing to worry about. And of course, that was exactly what I needed to hear because I'm too chicken to push for more tests... I'll eventually deal with it, I guess. It's just a matter of when I finally hit my breaking point and just call someone to schedule an exam.
And honestly, everything around the area just aches sometimes... everywhere... I even felt like my groin glands were acting up, though they don't feel swollen or anything. Even my armpits feel sore... maybe it's some nasty nerve pain 😕🤷😲... it's not exactly a sharp pain, more like this intense, painful itching. Nothing is swollen, which is normal for me... ugh... maybe the best move is to just suck it up, face the music, and get these fears cleared up once and for all 🙄

Chloe Gomez6 said:Sometimes my leg starts acting up—just one side, the left one😁. It feels like a nerve is being pinched or something🤷. It’s just an occasional thing, though. And honestly, what did she say? That she couldn't feel anything back there?😕 Maybe she doesn't even know what she's looking for. Also, what's the deal with that "skin tag" thing? (I think I've got one too). Why won't that little bit of skin just retract? To me, it just looks like a tiny little tail hanging out—totally pointless.😢
I don't really know what to tell you. Wait, didn't you post on those other forums too? Thinking maybe it was some gynecological issue? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?

No, you haven't mixed me up—I was posting over there too, because at one point everything down there just started hurting so much I couldn't even tell where the pain was coming from. First, I went to my primary doctor, who didn't see anything suspicious 😕, but then I ended up seeing my gynecologist because everything down there was burning and aching, and I thought... well, I won't say what I thought, but even he concluded that everything was more or less within the normal range, aside from a minor infection... so I got some vaginal suppositories and things were O.K. for a bit... I calmed down... but now, things are acting up again. There's this stinging, cutting sensation, and sometimes the pain just spreads out everywhere, though I haven't noticed any other spots hurting... I'm not bleeding, but I did feel some thickening around the anal area for a while... and now all I have are these intermittent pains and moments where it feels like my intestines are about to burst out of me... just this constant pressure on the anus... yeah, I don't know what else to say.
When I apply creams, it "calms down" a little... but then once I sit for too long or after a bowel movement, the pain or burning comes right back.
My stools have been getting more regular; for a while they were kind of "unprocessed and soft," but now they're... mostly normal... I'm a super neurotic and anxious person, though... and I'm pretty sure those two traits aren't helping—they're actually making everything way worse. 🤷

Here I am again 😲!
So, look, I went to see my doctor who gave my backside a full inspection 😉 and she told me it was just one single "prolapsed hemorrhoid." Even when she did the whole finger-in-the-butt routine, nothing actually hurt... but, uh, now I’m feeling this burning, stinging, cutting sensation down there again 😲 and I’m totally lost... can that prolapsed hemorrhoid just swell right back up like that???
And... I gotta ask, does it ever feel like the pain shoots down into your leg (like reflex pain), or am I just losing my mind? It honestly feels like the ache is spreading everywhere. 😕
Basically, I’ve been dealing with gut issues for years—you know, that whole irritable bowel type of situation—but lately, the bloating and gas have gone absolutely haywire.
I don't have any blood in my stool, but whenever I go, it feels like everything down there just gets scorched afterward, like the movement itself is totally destructive... I am seriously going crazy over all this. 😠

graniteorca96 said:I'm thinking this bigger one is maybe about 2 inches away from the end of the colon—there’s no way you could spot it without a scope.
The doctor told me these are basically old scars at this point. He said chances of them healing are slim, but hey, miracles happen, so he suggested I give the ointment another shot for a bit longer. 🤷

As for symptoms, I get this dull ache all day long—especially when sitting down—but then it turns sharp whenever I'm actually using the bathroom. Honestly, I thought the pain was going to drive me insane; I felt so totally helpless. 😢 No bleeding on my end.
I did notice things tend to peak once a month, usually about a week before my period starts.

Things have improved a ton since I started chugging 2 liters of water a day and making sure to get a walk in every single day. 3.1 miles(Though I've cut back on the walking lately—those 3.1 miles walks were just when I was on vacation), plus I started taking bran which really helped soften everything up. I've also ditched anything spicy and cut my coffee down to just one cup a day.

Ugh... man, I feel almost exactly the same way. No bleeding for me either... but on top of that, I've got this stinging sensation too! 🤷
I'm definitely going to have to book an appointment with a specialist soon... I'm pretty regular, once a day, and nothing looks weird... not hard, not soft... it's just that I'm a super high-strung person—totally neurotic and anxious.

graniteorca96 said:Jonathan Long4, honestly, just go see a proctologist and figure out what's actually going on 😉

I was in pain for like 3 or 4 months—just constantly buying up creams and suppositories. (The Hadensa at the pharmacy near Pike Place Market worked best for me because of that cooling sensation).

In the end, I finally called a private specialist. The doctor told me to use two glycerin suppositories in the evening to clear everything out, then show up for the exam the next morning.

They have this special chair—not exactly a chair, more like a recliner thing—where you basically stand there, strip down to nothing, lean over the support, and they do the rectoscope exam. It stung a little bit, but honestly, not even worse than just having a bowel movement.
It was over so fast that I didn't even have time to feel embarrassed.🙂

I've got internal hemorrhoids and three anal fissures. Two small ones and one big one 😢. Those little tears were actually what was itching the whole time, and I just assumed it was all hemorrhoids.

He suggested surgery if things don't improve after a month, and it's been almost three months now. I've been using St. John's Wort oil, and while it's not perfectly O.K., it's definitely better.

If it doesn't get better, I'm going under the knife. What else can I do? I can't live like this.🤷

So where exactly are these anal fissures located? And what kind of symptoms are we talking about... a dull ache or something sharp? For me, it's this constant burning feeling... but my GP told me she doesn't see anything suspicious... just one "prolapsed" hemorrhoid... whatever that's supposed to mean.
The pain isn't nearly as bad as it used to be, but I'm still low-key terrified that it's all going to come rushing back.

I’ve got like five different creams lying around—Factually speaking, I've got some herbal stuff with Linaria, Hemopro, Nevan's... plus some earplugs and stuff, so yeah, I think I’m pretty well stocked 🙄.
My doctor actually put me on Amoxicillin because it feels like I’ve got a mild bladder infection going on—it's hurting down there, vaginally and everything... so I'm gonna knock this stuff back. Honestly, it feels like I'm already feeling a bit better tonight since I took the Amoxicillin. I've been dealing with bladder issues for years, and lately, because of the heat, I've been constantly showering with ice-cold water 😲 (yeah, great idea, right?) and I think everything just got super inflamed... we'll see how it goes, but I definitely need to see my GP, and maybe a proctologist too—we'll see if I go if these problems keep acting up. For instance, whenever I get bad gas 🤣, it ends up burning my butt 😠 afterward, so... things are definitely not okay... but hey, hopefully, it's nothing seriously dangerous 😕!

😠So... I finally dragged myself to my GP and just laid it all out there. She asked if she could take a quick look at 😲, and I was like... yeah, sure, go ahead 🙏.
Anyway, now I’m sitting here totally lost... she basically told me everything looks fine on her end—just noted one tiny, irritated hemorrhoid—and said nothing looked abnormal. She did a quick finger exam 🙄, which didn't even hurt, but now? Now I'm feeling this ache that feels more like vaginal pain... plus, I've got this whole new issue with 😂 (which honestly isn't even funny), but whatever... the point is, everything down there was hurting before, and now I can't even tell where the pain is actually coming from anymore. Who knows what's actually going on with me????😠
