Those were some answers regarding the cash... not exactly exhaustive, but decent enough. But what about those two questions?..................🙂🙂🙂:geniuses:
I was just scrolling through the archives in the moderator's corner and saw how you guys occasionally get into it with one another... The posts about all the drama involving romance are definitely my favorite part... haha... you moderators really are a cool crowd... But I actually have a question... how does the payment side of things work? And honestly, I’m curious what else you can actually do once you have mod status, besides just deleting posts? Answer me if you’re allowed to (for the money) or if you just feel like it...
And one more thing... how do bans actually work? Why do people get them, how am I supposed to know if I've been hit with one... and what's the deal with points and cards? I don't understand any of that, yet I see people complaining about it constantly... could someone clear that up for me? (If there's already a thread that covers this last part... sorry... I must have missed it... so just drop a link if it exists... okay?)
Bryan Sanchez86 said:First off, this forum isn't some training ground. Second, this whole site is a business—part of a larger company with an owner. That owner picks the admins and moderators, who basically act as "employees"—even if they aren't getting a paycheck—to handle specific tasks. It’s actual work, not just a way to kill time when you're bored. It's a responsibility, not a hobby.
So, if you actually want to be considered for a moderator role—whenever the owners decide they need one, rather than just whenever someone feels like it—you'd need to be around for more than a month, maybe hit a few hundred posts, and actually contribute something useful to the discussions. You also need to follow the rules, show some basic manners, and demonstrate a sense of fairness, integrity, and common sense.
That's just the baseline to even get noticed. It doesn't guarantee anything, obviously, since there are plenty of other people meeting those standards. Usually, when a spot opens up, the current mods suggest candidates, and then the owner makes the final call.
Hopefully, that clears things up.
PS. There's a shortcut, though: just wire $1,000 directly to the company account or the owner. 😁
thanks..........this is one of those rare times where an answer was actually satisfying and made sense.......
you've got a point there........... ps. let's just move this discussion over to the subforum since there's already a thread going there anyway... sound good?
what even is PZK... and about the other thing... I’m saying I’d be down to give it a shot if I could actually learn how to do it... which is why I’m looking for some small, obscure sub-forum just to test the waters. If one of those big-shot moderators decides I'm being a nuisance, they can just kick me out or strip my mod status, no big deal.
So, I’ve got two things on my mind... 1. (The easy one) How do I change that little line under my username and above the avatar? Right now, mine just says "Registered User," while cosmicfalcon12 is out here rocking "Forum Pirate." How do I pull something like that off? 2. (Question for the mods) What’s the deal if someone actually wanted to become a moderator? Even if it was just for a quiet, low-traffic sub-forum for a short stint, just to see if I could handle it... basically, is there some specific requirement you have to hit, or do you just put in an application and see what happens?
It’s a shame, really... though I suppose he's got a point. It would look pretty ridiculous having pictures attached to every single post, kind of like those cluttered message boards you see on some sites.
They seem like such nice guys... honestly thinking I actually pulled it off... we'll see how it plays out, I guess... but thanks in advance, I suppose.
I’m looking to add a signature line underneath my posts, you know, like those little quotes or random bits of nonsense people include at the bottom... I'm assuming you guys get what I'm talking about, but if not, just ask and I'll try to find a better way to explain it... Can someone please let me know how to do this? I'm actually pretty curious about it...
The last two sub-forums in General don't even have a moderator... seriously, is it really that much to ask to let someone step up and learn the ropes on these smaller sections? It wouldn't bother anyone, and nobody would end up hating them either, since if we managed to get by without one until now, a moderator won't exactly be busy handing out bans all day anyway.
Is being a fair moderator actually a massive headache, and what does the job even entail? Honestly, if it isn’t too much trouble and doesn't require some crazy amount of experience or constant attention, I was kind of thinking about giving it a shot by running a smaller thread for a bit, just to see how things work... please, if possible
