If you want to be sure about your PC, maybe find a local tech enthusiast nearby who knows their way around hardware... or just hit up a repair shop.
Just a heads-up, if you're planning on doing a fresh install of Windows 10, make sure you back up everything on your C: drive (the system partition) to a different disk or partition first. And don't forget—besides your music, photos, and movies, grab your desktop files, emails, and your browser data like bookmarks and saved passwords.
So, I downgraded from Windows 10 back to 7 yesterday. Everything looks pretty much the same, though I did a massive cleanup and deleted everything I didn't need. Honestly, there aren't any decent technicians around my area; they always seem to mess something up and then charge an arm and a leg to fix it. I think I'll just hold out for another month or so and then pull the trigger on a brand-new machine. I don't even have multiple partitions anymore. When my SSD bit the dust, it was just gone. Now I'm stuck with just a 110GB C: drive, which is basically nothing for modern gaming. I can barely play Super Mario.

If you plug it back in and Windows 7 boots up fine, check Disk Management to see if it shows up. If you’re planning to install Windows 10 on that SSD, you really ought to wipe those partitions clean and create a fresh one first. It’s like cleaning a slate to make sure everything is actually working right. Once that's done, unplug the hard drive and run the Windows 10 installer from a USB or a disc. After the installation finishes successfully, you can plug the hard drive back in. Just keep an eye on your BIOS boot settings to decide which drive is the primary one... Since motherboards have specific SATA ports, try plugging the OS drive into the SATA0 slot so it stays the priority.
ps: Regarding AHCI, yeah, it's totally normal for the disk controller in the BIOS to be set to AHCI mode.
Thanks a ton! I’m honestly a bit out of my depth here. I know the basics, like getting an OS up and running, but messing with cables isn't really my thing. It was working fine a few days ago and then suddenly everything froze up and now the SSD is just gone. Also, does Windows 10 take up more space than Windows 7?
So, about a month ago, I set up this little 100GB workstation all by myself. I swapped out an old, dead terabyte drive for a 60GB SSD, and honestly, everything was running smooth as silk. But then, after a month of perfect service, the whole thing just froze up on me. I had to force a restart, and when it came back up, it gave me this headache: reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key
Then, later on, it started showing this instead: AHCI BIOS Version0001.0075 ahci drive unit
It finally decided to boot up again after a bit, but things are messy now. I don't think Windows 10 is even on there anymore—I suspect my dad might have been tinkering under the hood and replaced it with that ancient Windows 7. To make matters worse, when I open my files, the 60GB SSD isn't even showing up in the list; I only see a 110GB Local Disk C. Once I get the OS and a few basic apps installed, I’m basically out of space...
I had it installed about two months ago, but I ran into some weird error, and now my computer won't even recognize the SSD at all. That's where my 60GB of data lives. Meanwhile, the standard hard drive shows up fine with about 110GB on it—plus Windows takes up maybe 50GB...
Any idea why this happens? Is it something I can fix myself, or should I just take it to a pro at a repair shop?
I managed to install Windows 7 just enough to get by, but I really need that 60GB on the SSD back!
Hey friends! If any ladies out there see this, I’ve got one tiny request: please don't be someone who lives for gossip or spends all day obsessing over makeup. I'm just looking for a chill girl—or honestly, a guy too—who won't judge me or look at me like I'm some kind of weirdo. I'm 26, living in Indianapolis, and I'd love to find a solid group of people to hang out with. Think D&D sessions, movie marathons, grabbing coffee, hiking, and just truly living life while I still have the energy for it. So, hit me up...
I've got a cat, I'm big into gaming, and I love being outdoors. I can be a bit of a wild soul when I'm out in nature, but the right person could definitely help ground me. 😁
Hey everyone, does anyone know a good doctor in the States who actually specializes in hormone regulation? I’m asking because things have been feeling worse and worse lately, but most general practitioners just brush it off like it's a minor mosquito bite. If you have any recommendations, please shoot me a DM with their contact info or email.
Or, if you're curious about what I'm dealing with, I can send you a private message detailing my symptoms. Thanks!

🤦 honestly... it's not worth the energy... When I was living in a big city like Philly, I actually loved the sound of those streetcars screeching around turns 😁 it’s kind of soothing to me, like white noise. For anything else, I just pop in some earplugs, shut the window, and drift off. I've gotten really good at filtering out the junk and only tuning in when something important happens, like a doorbell or something. If we get annoyed by every little thing in the 21st century, we're in trouble. Think about how much more intense it gets later—we already have cities that literally never sleep. ah....

Walgreens hasn't responded to our warnings, so it seems an inspection is the only logical next step.
Have any of you dealt with something similar? And in your experience, does the situation actually improve once the inspectors finish their measurements?
So what?☕ What’s even THAT noisy? If it bothers you, just shut your window while you sleep, use earplugs... or just move to the countryside. You Chicago folks are a little spoiled... I live right above a Walmart, and every single morning at 5:00 AM they have bread deliveries and the same old routine—banging, clattering, dragging those massive heavy carts around inside the Walmart downstairs. Plus, I get cafe deliveries too, where they're tossing crates everywhere. And don't even get me started on the wild Saturday nights when people are partying right under my window until late. So what, people shouldn't work? You're probably way up high, though. I'm on the first floor and I am extremely sensitive to noise when I'm trying to sleep. What am I supposed to do, 🤷 vent about it on the internet?
