Running a fever? in Health ·
Honestly, don't even bother. That’s exactly what my radiologist told me—if your blood work comes back clean and your doctor can listen to your lungs without finding anything suspicious, there’s just no reason to subject yourself to unnecessary radiation exposure... but, I ended up going anyway just to be safe, and everything turned out fine.

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Just wanted to share a little victory here. I finally tossed my thermometer out the window about a month ago. I’ve officially decided to just accept those 98.6 readings 🙂 🙂 🙂

Does anyone happen to know of any natural remedies for soothing thyroid inflammation? I’m asking for an elderly person who has been diagnosed with clear issues in that area...

Just wanted to check in and report... my doctor ended up sending me for a chest X-ray because of this fever. The results came back mostly clear, though they noted some mild hyperinflation in the lung fields—which, honestly, sounds like Greek to me. Apparently, it's nothing to lose sleep over, but the damn fever just won't budge. It’s like trying to put out a kitchen fire with a water pistol. How are you ladies holding up?

Melissa Moore39 said:Everyone’s out there living their lives, even if they're feeling under the weather... but honestly, if the fever is the only thing bothering you, don't go down a rabbit hole of endless medical searches and stress yourself out. I deal with back and neck issues that are so brutal I can't even sleep at night. It's not just your typical lower back ache—I don't know what kind of pain you're dealing with, but mine is relentless.

Well, in my case, the lower back pain is tied directly to pelvic pain. I’ve gone through the whole gauntlet—OBGYN appointments, urology specialists, everything—and all my tests came back perfectly fine. I even had to undergo laparoscopic surgery to have a benign tumor removed, and despite that being successful, the pain persists. At this point, I've just accepted the chronic discomfort as part of my reality, but the fever is what really has me worried... Have you been prescribed any antibiotics or anything like that yet?

Melissa Moore39 said:I just left my immunologist's office, and they're telling me this whole thing is tied to systemic inflammation. Apparently, there's some kind of rheumatic autoimmune issue brewing, though they said it might be too early to pin down an exact diagnosis. I walked out with a mountain of prescriptions and was told I just need to be patient...

Good grief, at least someone is actually getting answers... maybe I should go see an immunologist myself. This constant burning sensation in my cheeks is becoming unbearable. What kind of tests do they even run? Is it just standard blood work, or something more intensive?

Good grief, I'm right there with you—mine showed up today too...🙂>

Hey everyone, how are those temperature readings looking for you all? Honestly, I’ve stopped checking mine altogether because I already know what the number is going to be... 🙂 Melissa Moore39, have you managed to schedule those follow-up appointments with the immunologist yet? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out fine.......

Good grief... I’ve been getting these sharp stabs in my back quite often lately—it feels almost like it's coming from my lungs, though that might just be because I smoked too much that day. On top of that, I’ve had this nagging pain in my pelvis for years now. It feels like it’s my ovaries or something, but every single gynecological exam comes back perfectly normal, my blood work is spotless, and even when the doctor listened to my lungs, she insisted everything was fine. Honestly, dear, I’m only 25 years old and I already have such an extensive list of ailments... it’s truly dreadful. Have you actually sat down and consulted with an immunologist yet?

If you’re seeing those numbers only during the second half of your cycle, then you’re almost certainly looking at ovulation... mine consistently hits around 98.6–98.7°F... and I can tell the exact moment it crosses that threshold because my face starts feeling flushed immediately. It makes me wonder, though—what kind of specific testing can an immunologist actually run to pinpoint the issue? Give us the details! Who even referred you there? Was it your primary care physician, or did you just take matters into your own hands and book the specialist yourself?

Melissa Moore39 said:It’s like almost half the month—maybe two days out of every week—where I just feel... off. Most of the time things are fine, but now they're starting to suspect an autoimmune issue because my spine is acting up too. I have an appointment with an immunologist soon, and I'm just praying this stops hitting me like this. It’s enough to drive a person absolutely insane.

Good grief... I mean, is it even possible for you to get anything done or function normally when your temperature is spiking like that? What did your bloodwork show? Does it actually point toward something specific? I ask because my back is constantly killing me, too, yet my doctor just keeps pointing at my lab results as if they explain everything. He hasn't even sent me for a lung scan, which, honestly, is a relief since I'm a smoker. That would be a nightmare...

Melissa Moore39 said:Some people can just shrug off a temperature of 99.1 or 99.5 and call it their baseline, but for me, the second I cross that threshold, everything falls apart. It’s like my body just shuts down—muscle aches, exhaustion, total malaise. It's been going on for two years now, and let me be clear, this isn't just "my normal" temperature because I feel absolutely terrible and drained.

So, are you consistently running above that mark every single day? And what kind of diagnostic tests have they actually run for you so far?

Dennis Lee68 said:but personally, I feel like 100 degrees is still pushing it for a "normal" reading, even if I don't feel particularly terrible right now. To make matters worse, mono just hit me out of nowhere, and my temperature hasn't budged an inch since... actually, let's just stop there. Once you start falling down those "medical advice" rabbit holes online, you'll find enough terrifying diagnoses to keep you up all night. 😲 .

Exactly. Honestly, once you start digging through textbooks or scouring the web for symptoms, you'll end up finding some catastrophic illness that just serves to freak you out for no reason. If you say you feel fine at 100, then that’s what matters. Besides, I trust my doctor—she says if anything were truly wrong, it would show up on a standard blood panel. It's like those people who run a fever of 95 and don't even blink; if you aren't panicking, why should you?

My doctor just listened to my lungs and basically told me there’s nothing to hear, so there's no point in wasting everyone's time with more tests... Honestly, I've been dealing with this feverish feeling for four or five years now. Even though my back feels like it's being stabbed constantly—but hey, I am a smoker, so... I guess there are plenty of us out there dealing with similar issues.

I have a question for the group. I went to see my doctor regarding this persistent fever issue, and honestly, the whole encounter was maddening. At first, she seemed completely baffled by why my temperature stays elevated like this. She even ordered blood work, but since the results came back perfectly normal, she basically told me to just accept that this is my "new normal" and move on. Just deal with it. That's it. No further questions asked. It feels incredibly dismissive, like being told to ignore a smoke detector just because there isn't a visible fire yet. It’s like when someone tells you a rattling engine is fine just because the car hasn't broken down on the highway yet—you know something is off. I was reading online about how even high-profile figures, like Tom Brady, had to seek out specialists and immunologists for similar issues. If the blood work is clear, doesn't that actually necessitate *more* digging, not less? Surely we shouldn't just stop looking simply because one test didn't flag anything. I'm hoping I'm not just being paranoid... but what have your experiences been like with doctors? Does anyone else feel like they're hitting a brick wall when the standard tests come back clean?
Gynecology question in Health ·
Is the issue actually sorted out? I went under the knife for that recently, though my surgeon insisted the whole thing was pretty much unnecessary... He basically said it was just a formality to rule out everything else and confirm the diagnosis.

Well, I suppose I’ll finally weigh in on the actual thread... I’ve been sitting here with this nagging low-grade fever—somewhere around 98.6 to 99 degrees—for years now. It’s constant. I had my tonsils removed three years ago, thinking that might be the culprit, but no luck; the sensation remains unchanged. Just a few days back, I went in for a full panel—CBC, electrolytes, coagulation studies—and everything came back perfectly normal. Absolutely textbook. So, what else is there to test? My doctor is just giving me the blank stare, offering zero answers or direction... yet I can still feel it, this persistent, localized heat radiating right through my head.
Gynecology question in Health ·
Honestly, you shouldn't let this get to you too much. I actually had mine surgically removed just two months ago. These types of tumors are generally quite benign—they aren't something that requires immediate removal unless they reach a certain size or if your CA-125 levels start climbing. In my case, they decided to take it out while they were already performing a diagnostic laparoscopy; it just made sense to handle it all at once. So, really, don't worry about it too much.
