Birth Control - General Discussion in Women's Health ·
I have a question regarding birth control pills.
So, the routine is taking them for 21 days, followed by a week off to allow for my period. I read somewhere that sperm can actually survive for up to nine days, which got me thinking—what happens if I have sex (without a condom, just relying on the pill) during those nine days right before I stop the cycle? Since ovulation typically occurs once I stop the medication, would there be a risk of pregnancy?
Thanks in advance for any insight 🙂

p.s. I just realized this is a women's forum, so I’ll ask the admins to please move this thread over there. I don't check this specific section very often, so I wasn't aware of the female-only subforum rules.🙂

She's an open book while I'm totally introverted. Then I met this guy who's a Leo—supposed to be this bold, fearless, high-energy type—but he was actually timid, cheap, and incredibly quiet. Seriously, I don't buy any of it.

There are actually so many different factors involved—your rising sign, your moon sign... 🙂
it's quite typical for Capricorns to be skeptics about horoscopes. 😁

I don't know, I've always found psychology interesting, though I haven't delved too deeply into it, unfortunately. Still, I have kind of embraced astrology. Especially once I learned it dates back over 6,000 years to the Sumerian people, whose origins and vast knowledge remain such a mystery to us... 😉

But there is a certain logic to the system, I suppose, with the four temperaments and the four natural elements...

I used to be a firm believer in that whole four temperaments theory, at least until I started diving into astrology. To me, the zodiac provides a much deeper way to interpret how people actually tick.

For instance, since my sun sign is Scorpio and my rising sign is Sagittarius, I honestly feel like I can slide into being sanguine, choleric, melancholic, or phlegmatic depending on the day. I don't really have one set default setting; I guess it all just depends on the situation at hand.
Maybe you should try looking at astrology through a psychological lens? It’s actually older than Hippocrates, and I find it offers a far more nuanced analysis than his framework ever did. 🙂

They set these impossible standards, feel like failures when they miss the mark, and end up being their own worst critics. Naturally, they can't tolerate their own company, so they just keep running from one thing to the next.

If that doesn't hit home, maybe you’re just chasing happiness through other people. It's driven by this irrational fear that being alone equals dying. Realistically, you aren't going to be unable to feed or care for yourself for two years straight. The issue with this manufactured dependency is that you lose control over your own life; if someone you care about moves away or passes on, your happiness goes down the drain with them. And you can't really blame them—they're just living their lives.

At the end of the day, you're the only person you can truly rely on—you aren't going anywhere. Everyone else is just passing through, so you might as well learn to enjoy your own company. Take some time to get to know yourself and do things you actually enjoy. Treat yourself like a friend—with a little respect and kindness. You don't have to lock yourself in a room for a month; just try being alone for ten minutes a day until it feels natural. If it doesn't? Fine.

But trust me, once you realize how much solitude recharges you—bringing back peace, focus, and genuine joy—you'll start looking for every excuse to steal a few moments for yourself.

One more thing: true solitude—real quality time with yourself—happens in total silence. No TV, no music, no video games, nothing to distract your senses. That's what actually recharges the batteries. Just take it slow, a minute or two at a time every day...

There is definitely some truth to that...
I hope I'm not getting too deep into this, but sometimes, I guess, being ALONE feels pretty heavy. 😢

Dana Morales64 said:This has been an issue for as long as I can remember—I’ve always been a social creature, someone who thrives in a crowd. When I'm out with people, everything feels effortless; time flies, there's no boredom, and life just seems manageable. But the second I walk through my front door, I’m lost. I’ll step into my room, and within two minutes, the restlessness kicks in. If the house is quiet, it’s even worse—this wave of paranoia and anxiety just hits me out of nowhere. If I go a few days without seeing anyone, things start getting weird; I feel like I'm losing my grip, I get hit with this intense fear when I'm out walking, sweating, constantly looking over my shoulder, terrified that I’m eventually going to end up completely alone. Then, I hang out with friends and suddenly everything is fine again. It’s like I have these social batteries that drain incredibly fast—if I don't "recharge" by being around people every couple of days, I hit some kind of internal social crisis. It’s possible I’m more attached to certain people than I let on, even though I’m never clingy or overbearing in a group setting. As far as actual life decisions go, though, I’m fine—I can handle pressure and I usually know exactly what the right move is.
The core of it, though, is purely social—this constant, nagging fear that I’ll end up isolated, even if there isn't a logical reason to feel that way since I have plenty of friends and a solid support system.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of cycle, and if so, how did you manage it?

I wouldn't say I'm quite as extreme, but I'm pretty close.🙂
For me, there's always someone at the house—noise, smells, just that sense that you're "safe."
The problem arises when my parents head off to their lake house for a few days. The first day is great; I enjoy my own company, blast some music, all that. But then... well, even the TV can't quite fill the void of "living" sounds. I just don't like being home alone.
Regarding the social side, it's the same thing—after a few days without socializing, I physically feel the need for company, like there's this subconscious itch I can't scratch.
I suppose this tendency developed because we simply haven't built the habit. Especially if you grew up in a large family where someone is always moving around the house... you really need to be able to be alone sometimes. It's healthy once in a while.🙂

That movie was absolutely stunning!
I’m just such a huge fan of Michelle Pfeiffer!
I actually have a friend living in New York City who spotted Michelle at the big Starbucks premiere a few weeks back. Honestly? I'm kind of jealous. It just doesn't seem fair.😢

Well, if only we all had lightning-fast metabolisms...
I am truly happy for you, though I do hope everything is alright regarding your health.

I actually suspected it might be a diet; I went through a similar situation myself when I was on a really strict regimen about a year ago...
