It honestly drives me crazy how a single kiss on a show like Big Brother before 9 PM triggers a massive moral crusade from all the pundits and politicians, threatening to pull licenses and everything, yet at noon I look up at CNN and witness the cold-blooded MURDER OF A HUMAN BEING 😢 absolutely insane! 👎
Lately, moms with strollers have been driving me absolutely crazy at the grocery store. 😬 I totally get that you can't just leave a baby out on the sidewalk, but seriously, ladies—you don't need to shove the stroller to one side and then block the entire aisle with your other arm! It makes it impossible to even reach the shelves. 🤷
I honestly don't get what the goal is, but hey, maybe I'll just get a concussion from a rogue stroller today. 😁
coastalowl212 said:electricpilot4, just imagine all these comments—plus the fact that you can't even have kids without IVF! 🙄
I'm telling you though, you'll probably be back on this thread soon enough. Once you're visibly pregnant in a week or so, everyone will jump back in to give unsolicited advice, comment on how you look or how big your belly is, and start sharing their own birth horror stories—not to mention the people who act shocked if you don't want to know the gender or if you keep your baby's name private!
Man, for some reason, pregnancy just becomes public property!
Same goes for weddings or pretty much anything else. There's always gonna be people sticking their noses where they don't belong. Honestly, if you can, just ignore them and their comments entirely.
Anthony Watson35 said:Honestly, my only fear is they'll start handing out those bananas or chocolate bars themselves, and then someone's gonna find a reason to say I bit them...
I’m not even scared, honestly. Let them try. I already know exactly where those snacks are gonna end up. and knowing you, I bet even your own crew knows better than to mess with your stash! 🤣
Ashley Price57 said:"Are you prepping your nipples for breastfeeding?" -"No, I read that it's actually useless nonsense" "But I was covered in sores! You have to scrub them with a towel!!!" -"I won't... That isn't recommended anymore. Thanks for the advice, though.." "Fine, maybe I am old-fashioned, but I'm just trying to help you. Everything has changed lately, but my intentions are good, you know? Don't take this the wrong way, I only want the best for you. Whatever, I just hope you don't end up having bad luck like I did with those wounds... I was just thinking of your own good, okay?" -"Right, thanks.." "Am I really that old-fashioned? Honestly, you modern moms have the internet and everything at your fingertips, but you can't believe everything you read. You say you won't give the baby chocolate, but just wait until they ask—you'll see how hard it is to say no then. It's easy for you to talk now, but I'm telling you this for your own sake so you don't make decisions too early. Not everything on the internet is accurate, you know..." -"Thanks for your opinion, but I'm sticking to my guns: a six-month-old doesn't need bananas or chocolate.." "BUT I'M TELLING YOU FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.........."
God, these conversations are so exhausting... Am I just being overly sensitive? 🤔
Yeah, you totally are. 😉 Just roll your eyes and be like "sure, whatever" and then top it off by saying you're gonna put your kids to sleep with moonshine and poppy seed tea. That's exactly how our grandmas and great-grandmas used to handle their kids back in the day 🙏
My sister’s gynecologist seriously pushed my blood pressure through the roof today. I had a 9:20 appointment, so I played nice and waited until 10:00. Then, I just knocked on the door like a normal person, told her my scheduled time, and asked when I could be seen. Of course, she immediately caught an attitude with me... When I finally got in at 10:20, she was looking at me like I’d personally committed a crime. She checked my BP using some weird gadget, didn't even glance at my urine sample, and then just slammed my referral onto the desk like she hated me—PLUS she told the doctor I was being "difficult and complaining"...🙄 Like, seriously, get it together! What is even the point of making appointments if you're just going to make people wait for hours?😵
Anthony Watson35 said:Ughhhhhh, I seriously CANNOT stand it when people stick their noses into whether someone should get married or not—and why. Like, seriously, just fuck off. We got hitched two and a half years ago, kids weren't even on the radar, but everyone—and I mean EVERYONE—kept asking me, "So, when are you expecting?"!!! As if that's the ONLY reason anyone ever gets married, or like everybody who's pregnant is suddenly on a deadline to rush to the courthouse! 😠
It basically goes like this: "We can't help meddling because we're just so worried about the baby's future! The whole wedding would be for the baby's sake. We have to stop thinking about ourselves and focus on the little one. It's all for the baby." 😬
They even went on about how much trauma I'd cause my own kid once they realize they were conceived outside of marriage. 🤷I'm just a single mom, what am I supposed to do? 🤣
Honestly, it sounds totally ridiculous typing this out, but people actually believe this stuff. And they aren't even uneducated—they've lived their whole lives in places like Chicago, they read books, they have electricity, TV, high-speed internet, hot water... everything. 🤣
Seriously guys, it’s unbelievable but true—a nurse at a local clinic in a suburb told me that kids born out of wedlock are treated differently even at the hospital! Back then, I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. 🤷 Like, are other babies going to point at him and refuse to play? I mean, come on, I refuse to believe there's any other reason! 😕
rowdyviper7 said:I honestly just got incredibly frustrated out of nowhere because of my aunt. Out of the blue, she decided to lecture me about how we "have" to get married, and then she goes on about how the baby shouldn't have my last name at the hospital, only to switch to my father's surname a few days later. She couldn't even explain for the life of her why any of this matters—it’s honestly ridiculous. It feels so wrong that my dad would even have to go down to the registrar's office to formally recognize the child (seriously, that’s just awful...). I can't stand the thought of my baby being seen as some kind of outsider from day one—that is easily the most offensive word in the English language! To make matters worse, just a few days ago, she was all, "Oh, kids these days, just do whatever makes you happy, times have changed and nobody cares about those old traditions anymore." Now? Suddenly, she’s completely flipped. I have no idea what's gotten into her or who's driving her hormones crazy lately... ugh...
girl 😠 In my case, his parents are the biggest headache. They just don't get—and honestly, they never will—why we aren't rushing to the altar right now, even if they're forcing the issue. I finally ended up in a massive blowout with them after trying to explain myself over and over again to no avail. Honestly, I didn't know how else to handle it besides pure anger and exhaustion. 🤷
Michelle Nelson4 said:What nonsense... Honestly, when I was married, our baby actually had my last name at the hospital simply because I hadn't updated my paperwork in time. When you go to the vital records office, you both just follow the standard procedure, and he just signs the acknowledgment of paternity—it really isn't a big ordeal at all. And calling a child a "brat"? That’s a bit much... I haven't heard anyone use that term quite so harshly in ages.😲 It’s probably best to just tune her out; she'll likely change her tune once the mood passes.
I tried that! But then I started breaking out in hives every time I heard them talking through their son. I swear, I can see it—they've clearly coached him, and that actually feels way worse than when they come at me directly. 😠
bubimira, from my extensive experience, I can tell you the most important thing is how you organize things in your own head. Make a pact with yourself that this stuff won't touch you, and don't get sucked into those long, pointless arguments with people who have such rigid mindsets. Yeah, sure, we'll see, definitely, yup, yep, just stick your finger in your ear to everything they say. 😬 At the end of the day, the decision is entirely up to you and your partner (half-crazy as that might be 😬), and nobody has the right to step in as an uninvited guest.
Steven Barrett6 said:My coworker seriously sent my blood pressure through the roof yesterday. She actually had the nerve to look at me and go, "Ooh, let me see my little chunky girl." Honestly, she can just go jump in the trash! Like, what the hell is her problem?!!! I’m not "chunky," I’m pregnant. For the record, I’m 140 lbs and 5'5", so if I wasn't expecting, those extra pounds wouldn't even make me "chunky." If there hadn't been a crowd watching, I wouldn't have stayed polite. I would've shut her down right then and there by saying, "I'm not fat, I'm pregnant." But obviously, I’ve got way more class and basic decency than she does...
People are just so incredibly stupid. Even if I were 220 lbs, you don't call a pregnant woman "chunky." It's common sense. Plus, I'm already feeling super sensitive about my weight right now, so this really stung...
There are a million better ways to bring something up without being a total jerk...
Literally the exact same thing happened at my office last week! Honestly, I don't think it's rude or anything to call people out when they cross the line. I told two people straight up, I'm not fat, I'm pregnant, and one person got super awkward while the other one just stared at me with this huge look on her face and went, Wait, really? Look how big your stomach is! Hahaha!
Yeah, hilarious... I'm totally "fat"... it's just all those burgers, fries, and pizza I've been eating lately! 😵
Seriously though, those comments are so annoying!
And oh my god, another thing that drives me absolutely insane is that someone in my apartment building—living on one of the upper floors—throws trash out their window every single day 😠 and then when I look out at our beautiful local park, all I see is their junk. It just ruins the view and makes me so mad! Ugh, some people are just so uncultured! 🙂 🙂
Ugh, I’m seriously losing it because this half-Republican Party guy is acting weirder than usual 😲 Honestly, I wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I’m sleeping right next to an idling construction site!! 😱
Honestly, the funniest thing about riding the subway is seeing those tiny old ladies who sit down and their feet just dangle there, swinging happily in the air 🤣
I’ve become so rounded and unsteady on my own two feet that I’m totally bulletproof against any comments from retirees. They don't phase me at all. 😛
Honestly, I would never deal with having to lock off parts of my own house just because some kids have zero manners. There should be clear rules about what’s allowed and when. If their parents didn't teach them, then I'll be the one to lay down the law, whether anyone likes it or not. Rules are rules, especially in my own home! The weather is gorgeous right now, so use that as an excuse to gently "evict" them. Just say, "I need some downtime, I'm wiped—hey kids, let's go for a walk! Go play outside since there's nothing for you to do in here." 😬 Pick a side and stick to it. You aren't obligated to babysit unless you actually want to, period. Tell yourself that and act on it without feeling guilty. Those kids have their own parents for a reason. It’s super obvious you’re a sweetheart, so if you can't be blunt with your mother-in-law about what's bothering you, make your husband do it. This is a shared issue, and he needs to step up and take responsibility. 🙂 Get your life sorted ASAP, because if you don't, I'm scared no one else will—not those clueless parents or even the grandma. Fingers crossed for you, stay strong! 👍
Why is this getting under your skin so much though? !
Linda Ward312 said:Next time you're at the front desk, just tell that lady, "Hey, I'm pregnant" right off the bat. 😎 If they don't call you in immediately after that, then you've got every right to be annoyed! One time, I actually took a Post-it note, wrote "Pregnant" on it, and slapped it right onto my referral paperwork—and lo and behold, they called me in before everyone else.
Honestly, what bugs me is how people think you should just spend the whole day napping 🙂
👍
If any of you ladies are living that unmarried life, you totally get what I’m getting at. All these mindless questions about marriage, weddings, or that fake "concern" over my kid's last name, whether the dad acknowledges them, or how people will judge them for not being born into a "traditional" family (EXCUSE ME??!!). Then comes the unsolicited advice—it’s honestly gross! 😠 😱 Growing up (and thanks to her for that 👍), my mom taught me that you don't just pry into private stuff. If you don't know someone well enough, mind your own business! But nope, nowadays everyone thinks they have a right to weigh in on absolutely everything and stick their nose where it doesn't belong. It's unbelievable.🤷 I seriously refuse to believe anyone can look "wrongly" at MY CHILD just because we aren't married. wtf?!
edit: I’m starting to have massive respect for single moms. Who knows what kind of nonsense they have to deal with from the neighbors? 😢
The bathroom! I’ve always been a bit of a neat freak when it comes to the bathroom, but now I’ve officially lost my mind. It's just constant hair, dust, little specks everywhere, and those annoying limescale spots on the tiles... ugh, this bathroom is driving me absolutely insane! 😠
Last month I went to see my doctor for some sick leave, right? I walk into the waiting room and—as usual—it’s packed to the rafters. I quickly scan for any open seats and spot this elderly lady sitting there, but there’s a purse sitting in the chair right next to her. Since I didn't think it was cool to make her sit alone while her bag took up the space, I turned to the old lady, pointed at the purse, and asked if the seat was free. But oh boy, 😁 that lady just stared at me, snatched that purse up, and practically bolted out of her seat! 🤷 Man, talk about karma hitting me instantly! So, yeah, I sat down. 😍
