So, I just finished watching this video and I’m curious to get your take—did I make a mistake picking up the 6950 2GB, or should I have just held out for the 7870? Looking at the projected price for the 7870, it'll probably be around $567, while I ended up paying $667 for mine. It's not even about the money for $100, per se—I'm more concerned about performance. Is the new card actually going to blow this one out of the water, or are they pretty much neck-and-neck? 😁
Windows 7 is miles ahead of Vista—and don't even get me started on comparing it to Windows XP. I've been running Windows 7 since the day it launched, and honestly, I haven't run into a single issue. It’s easily the best version of Windows yet. 😁
Alright, look—I wasn't really trying to tell everyone else what to buy. I just wanted to mention that I picked up this power supply for myself and I'm honestly pretty happy with it—it’s running perfectly with my new graphics card, so I figured I'd share the good news with you all. 🙂
Honestly, my main priority is just making sure it can handle my GPU—if I end up doing CrossFire later on, I’ll just upgrade to a beefier power supply then. 🙂 I mean, at the end of the day, Corsair is Corsair. I don't regret paying a bit extra for peace of mind knowing I have a quality unit instead of some random off-brand junk—no offense to Mushkin
Henry Kim3 said:I've still got the drivers that came with the graphics card when I first bought the PC... Is that enough to get by?
If you aren't exactly sure which manufacturer made your parts or what the specific models are, why not just download Speccy? It'll scan everything and show you exactly what's inside your rig. Honestly, it's probably better to just grab the latest drivers from the web anyway.🙂
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my little mini laptop—it's only got one gig of RAM and a dual-core CPU—and it struggles a bit every now and then. But it shouldn't be an issue for you... since you've actually got 2GB
... about a month ago I picked up a PC with integrated graphics, so I was wondering if an upgrade is actually doable?
... motherboard: ASUS P5G41T-M LX3
... looking to grab a GPU for around $333 (any suggestions in that price range?)
... oh, and one more thing—my power supply is 400W... would that be enough juice?
If I were in your shoes, for $333 I'd probably just scour Facebook Marketplace for an NVIDIA GTX 460 or maybe check out a local shop like Best Buy (I wasn't sure what the exact price was, so I just wrote it that way)—anyway, regarding that 400W unit... honestly, I'm not entirely sure if it could handle an NVIDIA GTX 460. Personally, I've been running an XFX 5770 with a 400W PSU and it’s been running smooth as silk, but then again, the NVIDIA GTX 460 is a bit more demanding, so who knows?
Nathan Reyes59 said:You could also grab an AMD Radeon HD 7970 for $1300—honestly, if it was priced around $1533 just a few days ago, it isn't actually that bad. But since it's a newer card, they're definitely trying to squeeze out every bit of profit while they can, which isn't exactly surprising when you're dealing with tech companies, right? Plus, there's an AMD Radeon HD 7950 available for $1183.
So, which budget retailers are we talking about here? Like Best Buy? Or maybe Protis?
I just saw that the 7950 finally dropped alongside $1333, and honestly—wtf? Isn't that a bit steep... I mean, it's practically double the price of the 6950 version..
fadedorca66 said:That power supply might hold up, but honestly? I'd rather spend an extra bit of cash and just grab something like an XFX 450W—it'll handle it without any issues. Don't listen to those manufacturer recommendations too closely... they always pad the numbers just to protect themselves from cheap power supplies.
I thought you were strictly capped at $100 and didn't have a cent more to spare—my bad! 😁
heheh no worries 🙂) I'll take a look now, maybe I'll end up picking up that AMD card after all
Alexander Moore67 said:Look, my lazy little scientist friend—in the world of power supplies, the formula is simple: quality equals price. Trying to run an AMD Radeon 6950 on a PSU like the one $100 is 🤣 And honestly, not reading a single thread about power supplies is just being a bit shortsighted.
I’m no scientist, I’ve got a PhD, actually—but regarding power supplies, he immediately tells me it won't work and suggests I should just $67 buy something higher-end instead. He keeps pushing that 400W unit on me... it isn't that I can't afford to shell out for $67 something better, it's just that I was asking if this specific one could actually handle my GPU...
I honestly don't know if I'm speaking Turkish or if you're 😁 Why on earth would I drop cash on a 400W power supply when I already have one sitting right here? Regarding that office model—I mentioned I’d stick with it because HERE it clearly states you need something better than 500W, yet you keep insisting on pushing that 400W unit on me.
fadedorca66 said:I’d definitely go with this one: though if you can stretch your budget just a little bit, maybe grab this: .
I'm not entirely sure—right now I'm running a 400W unit and my 5770 handles everything just fine. But honestly, I'm wondering if it can actually handle an AMD Radeon 6950? Everyone keeps telling me I should probably have at least a 500W power supply, but then I noticed you're using a 400W one...
Hey everyone, I’ve got $100 on hand right now and I’m thinking about picking up OHT this power supply. To be honest, I haven't really heard of this brand before—it probably doesn't hold a candle to something from Corsair, right? Still, what do you guys think—will it actually handle my HD 6950 2GB card without any issues?
Justin Gray81 said:He’s always getting worked up over nothing... honestly, just look at his avatar and you'll see what I mean. 😬
Haha, well, what can you do? 🙂 But seriously, I'm genuinely confused here—look: I checked the official website, right? I scrolled through the whole thing, and there is absolutely no mention of version 12. I even checked some torrent sites just to be sure, and nope, only version 11 shows up. So, I don't get how PC Chip is sharing it if it doesn't even exist yet? It's not like anyone else is talking about it. I tried asking him about it, and he just totally lost it. 😁
Edward Foster23 said:Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well! Could someone give me a quick rundown on how this compares to Nero 7? I've been using Nero—got a legitimate version—so I'm just wondering what the actual benefits would be if I decided to switch over to Ashampoo instead. Thanks in advance!
If you ask me, Ashampoo is actually better than Nero—just go ahead and install it, you won't regret it.🙂
Noah Miller6 said:@osmani...... Man, come on... Just grab it from Newegg and don't overthink it too much... There's less than a day left before the deal is gone...
Hahahahhah why the tension? I was just asking because I wasn't quite sure—no hard feelings at all. 😁
Noah Miller6 said:I mean, what part of this isn't clicking for you?
It's just frustrating—how am I having such a hard time finding version 12 on the official Ashampoo site when PC Connection has it listed right there? That's all I'm saying...
