You dark fascist! Have you repented for those blasphemous sermons yet? Fascist! Come out and play! Fascist. Are you familiar with the Kreatorov Great Plains?

Dennis Hall41 said:Of course he’s fed up with you. I wouldn't have expected anything less after those top-tier metaphors about dropping your pants...😁

It’s barely even a metaphor at this point, since you missed an absolute orgasmic piece of music...

Dennis Hall41 said:To me feels like classic post-hippie, proto-Luciferian rambling that starts getting on my nerves after just a few minutes. Objectively speaking, the most mature artist this week—in terms of humor, humanism, narrative depth, and masterful command of roots American music—is definitely John Prine. Donald and Lydia, Paradise, Illegal Smile, or Sam Stone would eat everything else on this list for breakfast. Maybe except for the title track Jolene and some stuff by The Stooges.

Oh, the sweet, beautiful variety of it all...😁

I was done with Prine after three songs. If you're going on a trip with Sanders, you need an open mind. Giving up after the tenth song is like stopping mid-sex before you've even gotten your pants down.

Most of this stuff doesn't really hit for me lately either. Probably just a mix of what's being pushed and my own mood.

Blindly speaking, Pharaoh is my favorite. I’ve practically worn out my digital library listening to Kreator over and over... 🙏 Between Sun Ra and Alice Coltrane, they're my go-to jazz legends right now.

Back in Yugoslavia...

I honestly think Škoro was just looking for any excuse to sell out early...

Dennis Hall41 said:The Eagles moved 64 million copies of Hotel California and Greatest Hits in the USA alone. I won't even get into the rest, but they definitely hit the 100 million mark. Just imagine if a band could sell 1 to 1.5 million back home...

Well here are the stats. I was expecting names like Prljavac, Fleetwood Mac, or The Doors... Basically, nobody tops 800,000 per album. Though combined, they probably have a few million sales under their belts...

I can't keep up! On a slow day, I might manage three or four, maybe five, but that’s nowhere near enough for this many suggestions. So, I just end up voting based on what I already know. I actually just finished a documentary on Miles Davis and really feel like chatting about him. Most others didn't even get a fair shake... A whole week to listen? I'd probably drop at least five posts here in that time alone.

Dennis Hall41 said:I just nuked my entire intro post. I was working on it in Word on my PC and accidentally hit cancel when the save prompt popped up. Total rookie mistake. Not exactly high-IQ stuff... It was one of the best things I've ever written. Now I have to rebuild it from scratch, but we all know the second version is never as good as the first.

🤣

We should just have an Album of the Month. People suggest for a week, vote for a week, then spend two weeks actually debating... That way, people would actually listen to the stuff instead of just skimming. Honestly, if someone is that hyped about a suggestion, why wouldn't they just start their own thread? If you aren't passionate enough to write a quick review when you nominate it, why bother suggesting it at all? We could spend half the month discussing the options and the other half digging into the winner to actually learn something.

I’m just a guy from Brooklyn and I’m a huge fan of the Bell, regardless of where I'm from.

Their fifth album, and a worthy one at that. It’s basically their creative and mainstream peak. In my humble opinion, it’s also one of the last true flashes of rock that actually resonates across generations... whether you're a die-hard fan or just passing through.

For me, it's the last one. I dig the direction they're heading...

This all kicked off when I stepped up as a moderator. It’s honestly beautiful. Like trying to irrigate the Sahara. You’re going to need way more than just two moderators and a handful of enthusiasts to pull that off. I don't want to be a total pessimist, there's still a spark of hope, but...

"A bit more lively" is purely subjective. Following the album of the week and the weekly picks, things are basically dead, aside from an occasional random piano riff in the middle of the night. It’s about on par with a quiet library... There's actually more action happening over in Photography, which—in my opinion—is seeing about a fifth of the traffic it had back during the lockdowns.

Whatever, let's just invent some game where Dennis Hall can mess around with, I don't know, a urologist while five or six other people throw up on him, and everything will be right back to normal—back where everyone knows your name. Losers!

Edit: Forgot to mention this. The situation when you took over the subforum was such that you inherited a totally restructured space where all the musical junk had been cleared out to focus on albums, which ended up becoming the main driver for activity via the album of the week after you initially disagreed with it.

Handling the restructuring solo was a thankless task, but given how much free time I actually have, I gave up relatively quickly once I'd finished clearing out the trolls.

Reading that was straight-up disgusting.

And this thread isn't dead; the mods are basically on vacation right now and won't be back until Labor Day. I've got my proposal ready to go.

The place really lit up then. Honestly, it was gross. Ah, good old days of failed moderation. I mean, if two dedicated moderators couldn't get things under control, why should I blame myself?

I’d go with Cher, but none of my favorites are even here. Friends let me down, my own brother turned his back on me. Lost every single battle, but I'm still fighting the war... Your obsession with feeding us this garbage is bordering on insanity. Not sure what the point is, but hey, at least you're having fun, I guess.

I love somewhere. The Bling Ring doesn't really stick in my mind, though I think it was alright. The Virgin Suicides was perfect for me, but man, that was ages ago. I'm still trying to force myself to get through Lost in Translation, especially after nodding off during the first few minutes back when it first hit theaters. 🤷
