Mosquito bites and stings in Health ·
So I did a little digging online, and I'm leaning towards it being Aedes albopictus.
It looks almost identical to the one > mentioned—but this one seems more likely since it's already established in Italy, and we're just right across the water from them...
And honestly, the more I read, the more it seems they carry the exact same diseases...

The map shows it living right there...
Mosquito bites and stings in Health ·
I live up in Buzet—which is way up north in California, far from the coast—and I got bit by this mosquito the other day... I actually watched the thing eating me before I swatted it, and honestly? I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. Now I'm starting to think I should actually be worried.
Does homeopathy actually work? in Health ·
Honestly, if someone’s dealing with a stutter, they should probably see a therapist instead of some homeopath.
I mean, homeopathy actually works for stuff like allergies and rheumatoid arthritis, though...
Iodine in Health ·
I don't think we have that listed in our database...
try calling a supplier or maybe a pharmacy over in New Jersey—they might have it there.

What kind of iodine and why do you even need it?
If it’s just a supplement, salt is already iodized anyway—no reason to stress...
Why check blood? You'd only see that in an acute poisoning case.
If they're still alive, you test hair—that’s where everything builds up anyway.
Just call the CDC. But don't expect them to pick up the tab; you'll likely have to pay for the analysis yourself, so be prepared.
Is tap water safe to drink? in Health ·
So, I was out with my college crew at the CDC for some "field training." We toured all the different departments to see how they operate—the woman in charge of water quality basically told us the tap water here is top-tier. She said there’s zero reason to be afraid of filling up a bottle straight from the sink. Apparently, bottled water only tastes better because they load it with extra flavors anyway.
William Martinez36 said:Sure, you can drink—but it shouldn't be a daily thing. Those people who have a beer after lunch or a glass of wine every single day? That’s not it.

And why not?
Has anyone ever taken Isoniazid? in Health ·
tuberculosis...

There are even pills now that come pre-mixed with Vitamin B6 to help cut down on the neurotoxicity.
The drug has a ton of side effects—basically everything listed in the manual could happen—but there just isn't an alternative.

My mom was on it years ago, but her liver enzyme levels went south so fast she had to stop taking it immediately.
You can drink—he probably just mentioned the vomiting because it takes time for the meds to hit your stomach and actually absorb. If you throw up after taking birth control—say, an hour or two later depending on the pill—you basically have to retake the dose... I mean, obviously, it hasn't been absorbed yet, right? You'll end up with low blood levels and zero effectiveness.

Honestly, I have no clue what you’re even trying to say or what your actual question is here 🙂.
Give it another shot 🙂—maybe this time it'll make sense

Dark circles/veins under eyes in Health ·
A friend mentioned to me the other day—why are my veins showing under my eyes? I’ve always had dark circles, not even super dark right now, but they definitely count—no matter how much sleep I get. It's not anemia; I just have really low blood pressure and a fast metabolism. But you've got me thinking now 🙂

depends on your definition of "eating well"—if you're hitting at least four massive (!) meals
in a single day, then sure, you're eating well!
🙂

So we're just ignoring the role of the kidneys now?🙂

"Fertile days"—as if anyone actually knows when those are anymore...
The odds aren't great, but you never truly know, right? Anything can happen. Plus, it's way too early to tell.
Struggling with being underweight in Health ·
I'm 5'6" and 110 lbs. I’ve always been skinny—my mom used to say I was skin and bones—but I think I look alright now. Doesn't really matter to me, though. And as for eating whatever I wanted in huge amounts? Yeah, that's never happened.

Look, if you actually want to build some muscle, try hitting the gym more and upping your protein intake. Who even cares about body fat? 😁

Price doesn't mean a damn thing—it's all about what the lab actually records. You can grab a cheap one for twenty bucks and get the exact same concentration reading as some overpriced brand twice that cost. Why bother overpaying?
I'm scared :( in Health ·
Pregnancy tests basically just track how much hCG is floating in your urine.

On average, you’re looking at a positive result about 10 to 14 days after conception. It varies—sometimes earlier, sometimes later—so you might want to look up specific hCG concentrations per week and which brands can actually detect them. You'll probably hit that window right around when your period is supposed to start, assuming you had ovulation on day 14 of a standard 28-day cycle.

Look, there's no way for you to know right now, and even a doctor won't see anything on an ultrasound yet. Just wait another week. If your period doesn't show up, take a test, then go see your OB-GYN for a definitive answer. Good luck. 😉
Arava in Health ·
Yeah, let's be real—any drug targeting this condition is going to have side effects. But if you're getting your liver enzymes checked every three months, it should be fine...
Arava in Health ·
So, Dr. Miller (he's with Mayo, so he gets me info fast 🙂) says Arava works—but he’s had a handful of patients on it, and half of them had to drop it because their liver enzymes spiked.

He thinks Humira might be the best move, though the price tag is insane. Methotrexate works too, but you're looking at long-term side effects and constant monitoring.

Honestly, let’s not even start on our doctors here. 🙂 Shout out to the good ones—the patient ones who actually stay up to date with new treatments.

Anyway, if you want, I can ask my sister what their first line of defense is for this condition. I've just been studying the meds so far, but I don't hit pharmacology until next year—so I'm probably not exactly an expert yet. 😁 She’s a resident over at the Mayo Clinic, so you aren't going to get bad info from her—not that she’s even seen your mom or anything. Just give it a few days for the communication between the US and wherever you are to settle in. She usually gets back to me eventually; she's just slammed with work. 🙂
