Is having five kids actually worth it? in Psychology ·
jadewalker63 said:I hope the admins don't take this down—it’s not even my own thought, I just read it somewhere. There's this saying that goes something like this: No matter how many people you add to a family, the collective IQ stays exactly the same. 😂 🙈

Pure foolishness... I read extensively, yet I have never encountered such a saying; we clearly consume different literature. You shared that quote here simply because you find it trendy and happen to agree with it. It is superficial and lacks depth. IQ? Please.
I come from a large family... and look at the professions represented... computer programmer, auditor, electrician, two nurses, an interior designer (who graduated on the Honor Roll abroad), an accountant, an administrator... and there are still students to count, among others. Afterall, the number of children is irrelevant; what matters is their upbringing. 😍
I refrain from profanity; I never use it.
In my social circles, at my workplace, and within my own home, such language is non-existent.
Growing up, my father used coarse language, but my mom never did. Profanity is inherently unsightly and lacks basic decorum.
Having lived in the States for over twenty years, I have never encountered the kind of vulgarity one might hear among certain groups back home... It seems to me that swearing is, in most instances, a behavior passed down from parents to their children. My mom would discipline my siblings and me whenever we dared to repeat our father's outbursts, and for that, I am grateful. Naturally, the environment one inhabits also plays a role; if a community tolerates foul language, it contributes to a culture of incivility.
Why do people swear so much? Perhaps it is because they aren't truly listening to themselves, failing to reflect on what they have actually uttered or heard. Maybe they believe it makes them appear "cool," or perhaps they simply lack the vocabulary to express themselves differently—using it as a crude emotional release valve.
Fate in Philosophy ·
...one can "perceive" destiny if they aren't blind to what is right in front of them. Clearly.
One simply needs to aggregate the factors of their existence—environment, family, and so on—to understand the trajectory of where they are headed and where they will ultimately land. If one desires a different life or outcome, the solution is to alter both one's surroundings and oneself. Destiny, or the final result, remains within one's control. Based on my own circumstances—being born into a large family of over ten children in a small rural town—what do you imagine my fate was supposed to be? Destiny is merely the culmination of specific actions or inactions. Simple as that.
