Wait, isn't the violin actually one of the hardest things to master? Like, there aren't these rigid little rules you follow, you just have to intuitively listen to every single note you're pulling out of it... I've been wondering lately which instrument is the absolute toughest to learn, and which one is basically a walk in the park.
Actually, now that I think about it, maybe the tuba is the real nightmare (that's how you say it, right?!), since you basically need lungs like an elephant just to get through a set. And a synthesizer is probably the easiest of the bunch... *sniff*... well, that's what I play anyway.
hmmm... yeah, it’s a whole different vibe when someone is being straight up with you but still keeping things friendly, because otherwise, they can come across as just plain rude or like they're trying way too hard to act tough... and then there's that other thing, where someone just builds these massive walls and won't let anyone get close because, honestly, they just aren't that into people at all... you can tell immediately
Honestly, getting a compliment from someone who’s usually stingy with the praise feels incredible, it hits way harder than those two hundred cheap shots from people who just throw flattery around at everyone they meet... you know, the types that basically just suck up to anyone with a pulse...
Yeah, but check this out. Someone shows up in some new skirt and asks me, "Hey, you like it?" To me, the thing looks terrible, so I just go, "Ugh... man, that is just awful." I’m never gonna say, "Yeah, that looks great." But because that's just how I talk, people don't usually take it as an insult... I mean, it's just my vibe, and eventually, folks realized that if I say something is "trash," it actually means they nailed it, and if I say "wow," they should probably be worried... so they've learned to take my "this is hideous" as a massive compliment, while my "holy crap..." actually means it's incredible. 😁
Oh, sure, they might be doing better, but I don't give a damn about that... I’m doing just fine on my own terms, and honestly, I expect people to actually take the time to see my worth and recognize what I bring to the table, you know? That’s just how I roll... And if we’re really going to get into who's "doing better" than whom... man, there are endless little theories out there for that...
Ugh, man... So you’ve basically gone ahead and defined "unlikable" as anyone brave enough to actually tell the truth. Look at me, 🙂 and honestly, whatever. It doesn't bother me one bit. But let's be real, people—myself included—just have this hardwired craving to hear something sweet about themselves, something to give them a little ego boost... even when we suspect deep down it’s total BS, our brains still process it as a win, and there’s really nothing you can do against basic biology... But seriously, what's your deal though?! Did you get absolutely shredded just for being honest for once?

Hehe... just sitting here waiting for the inevitable backlash. 😬
You can't seriously go around claiming that people with high IQs are naturally prone to certain mental illnesses! Where on earth are you getting your data from?! I mean, look, everyone else deals with their own fair share of health issues, and yeah, scientists and whatever else might lose their minds occasionally, but still... It's just putting people into little convenient boxes... Sure, maybe there’s a slightly higher statistical chance they could end up being a Narcissus, but that definitely doesn't mean every single genius out there is some massive Narcissus...
nah, look, if someone’s actually got a brain in their head and they realize it, they might come off a little full of themselves because of that, but that isn't narcissism. when you're dealing with a true narcissist, they act that way because they're pathologically obsessed with themselves, which is a legit psychological disorder. it honestly has nothing to do with how smart you are, you can't just claim—like, intelligent people have all these different conditions, schizophrenia, whatever... they might be cocky because they're brilliant, but that doesn't make them a narcissist!!!
I mean, it really just comes down to how someone plays it; if you’re playing polka, then yeah, it’s gonna sound like polka, but generally speaking, the accordion is kind of a goofy little instrument... you just picture those heavy-set guys from the Midwest in their short shorts and thick mustaches, knocking back some Budweiser at a backyard BBQ 🙂
now, say They Might Be Giants decided to throw an accordion into one of their tracks, and suddenly it actually sounds pretty decent. but they aren't some local garage band, you know? it all depends on your technique. if you're aiming for that high-pitched wailing style, then damn, it’s gonna sound like polka, but if you play it differently, it doesn't have to...
I don't know, I’m not usually one to be this hard on myself, but honestly, sometimes I feel like I've got a bit of an ego, though at the same time, I can't help feeling like everyone else is just... somehow better than me, and like I probably care about my friends way more than they ever care about me, if that makes sense...

Usually, they move in tandem; once you build a healthy sense of self-respect, you naturally become a confident person. Conversely, where self-respect is lacking, confidence tends to vanish as well, and if someone does possess confidence without that underlying respect, it usually isn't built on very solid ground.
Well, I don't know, I'm not sure how tightly those two things are actually linked, they sound almost identical to me, but whatever... I honestly feel like I've got one without the other, and it's not just my own weird feeling, other people have pointed it out too—that I don't exactly have both qualities in sync... like, people will tell me straight up that I lack self-respect, but nobody ever tells me I lack confidence, because I definitely have plenty of that, and I know it myself...
Just go for it, just lay it all out there like... actually, let me not even start with the comparisons right now, but look, it's fine, really, it’s just exhausting, you know? You basically have to train yourself to actually think positive thoughts, (and for someone like you, it’ll probably take at least two weeks before it actually sticks in your brain, or whatever) I mean, everyone wants to tell themselves whatever they want to hear, some people claiming they’re absolutely flawless and perfect, while others try to convince themselves they aren't quite as amazing as they pretend to be, (ugh, I had one friend who was such a walking trauma dump, seriously)
Self-respect? Yeah, I don't really have that... I've got confidence, sure, but that's a different beast entirely, though I'm not even sure if you can actually separate the two, but it just feels that way... but look, you basically just have to force it every single day—even if you don't actually believe it at first—you gotta tell yourself you're awesome, that you're hot, smart, incredible, and just rattle off a bunch of other good traits until you eventually start believing your own hype and actually start acting like it... and that's pretty much how it works. I mean, I'm not about to go digging through your entire life story right now, trying to figure out when things went south or what kind of trauma you're dealing with or what some jerk said to you back in high school, but I honestly think this method works... Man, maybe I should start doing this myself (though I'll probably just end up being an idiot, won't be an idiot, won't be an idiot... mmmm)
"A man goes through childhood, youth, and old age, while a Woman stays a child forever and, just like any kid, treats everything like a toy." Isn't it actually kind of the other way around?
"It’s not quite right to say every man is the architect of his own fortune; if anything, a man is always the sole architect of his own misery." That's just not true, positive thinking actually triggers positive outcomes...
I didn't really have the patience to read the whole thing from start to finish, though, because those opening lines alone... you'd have to be a total chauvinistic pig to write that garbage 🙂 The rest was alright, and the title is actually pretty spot on, it's just that nobody seems to notice—everyone is too busy nitpicking everyone else's flaws just to make themselves feel superior
Look, it’s not even about you wearing that damn expensive suit and looking sharp in it. It's more about how this whole messed up world starts valuing you way more just because of the designer threads and the luxury car you're driving, while all the actual, meaningful stuff just gets pushed to the side... And honestly, it happens constantly; we see it playing out right in front of our eyes every single day. You see decent, hardworking people getting passed over while the brown-nosers and the scammers are out there basking in the spotlight. Like seeing some corporate shark at JPMorgan Chase climb the ladder just by sucking up to the CEO while the actual talent stays stuck in the cubicle...
I mean, I guess it depends on who cares, right? Some people have way more empathy than others when they see everything going to hell. For instance, I'll be like—ugh, here goes another charity drive for some disease, whatever, people pass away every day anyway. But then there's someone else who actually gives a damn. Ugh, I don't even know what smart point I was trying to make... I totally lost my train of thought somewhere in these rambling sentences...
Are you trying to be some misunderstood artist or a deep-thinking philosopher or just something weird, man? Look, having empathy is fine within reason, but you really shouldn't overdo it... because if you try to carry the weight of the entire human race on your shoulders and worry about every single soul out there, your nerves are just going to snap...
Man, call me contradictory if you want, because that’s pretty much what I am... but hey, whatever, I guess the world needs people like me to keep things interesting. I’m not about to go changing who I am just because the world won't budge, and since nothing else is moving, everything just stays exactly how it is... I guess you just have to find a way to make peace with all of it, unless what else are you even gonna do...?

I mean, if you actually became mayor or whatever... or if you just somehow became super powerful and could call all the shots, I don't know... honestly, I'm not even sure what I'd change about Chicago besides, well, everything... maybe I'd try to rewire the collective consciousness or tackle those unwritten social rules that keep us from being truly free... you know how it is, like what Noah Sanchez7 is getting at, where everyone just gives each other these fake little smiles just to keep up appearances so nobody thinks anything of it, and then the next person smiles back for the exact same reason, just going around in circles while everybody involved feels like an absolute idiot... unless, of course, someone actually enjoys the charade... god help us...
